Gotta be the Stones. All Bush really has going for them is that Steve Albini produced one of their records. :p That, of course, is just my silly opinion.

"Hurricane" by Bob Dylan
That man is ridiculously talented... and the song just ended.

Now it's "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)" by Three Dog Night
hahaha, I love that Randy Newman cover. VERY fun song.

That computer would make an excellent FreeBSD web/file server. GNU/Linux would work too.

I'd say that humans have been rather arrogant and brutal with animals in recent history. Now, I'm not against eating meat and the like, but thinking of the means by which we acquire all of this meat(such as veal and hog farms) kind of makes me sick and I try my best to avoid financially supporting it.

It's also a rather bold assumption to presume that animals have no soul.

Whoa dude, you did Ketamine? That's some brutal chemical right there, same with the coke, might wanna steer clear of that jazz. The LSD probably isn't a good idea when you're depressed either, but it's not going to kill you or really do much of anything to you physically. Consciousness expansion isn't a good plan while you've got a bad head.
As for your grades, don't worry. A university acceptance is not your only hope of a higher education. There are these lovely institutions called Community Colleges that pretty much have open-door policies when it comes to admissions. Take care of your first two years at a community college and the transfer to a 4 year school as a junior is a breeze. Hell, you don't even need a diploma... my neighbor and longtime friend dropped out of Highschool, got his GED, and went on to get his masters degree in civil engineering. Nobody is ever royally fucked in these modern societies that we're in today, and giving up is like a slap in the face to the people who're not as lucky as you to have been born in such a fortunate situation as the one you're in(free education, roof over your head, food, and clean water).

My advice is to pack up all the videogames, television, drugs, and other distractions out of your life for the time being. If what you want is to pass this class, you need to focus. Get all of your homework done, don't screw off in class, and bug the teacher about extra credit every opportunity you get. If you let your instructor know how important it is to you that you pass this class and show effort, he/she will be very reluctant to fail you. If worse comes to worst and you do fail, it's not the end of the world either, like I said there's community colleges available for you. Don't give up champ, the world is your oyster. You just gotta grab it by the balls and take charge, don't piss away irrecoverable amounts of time with nintendo and whatnot while you have important shit to do.

The documentary was mild... Moore could have done so much more when it comes to smearing the folks currently in office. There wasn't much in there that I hadn't already known since the start of this mess. I did really enjoy a lot of Moore's humor in the film, he's a pretty clever guy.

"if the United States could play by the same rules as the terrorists play by..."
Don't kid yourself, the USA has been deemed a terrorist state by the world court and has been responsible for some of the worst atrocities of the 20th century. The USA plays by very similar rules as these guys, we may not cut off the heads of innocents on television... but we'll broadcast the showering of billions of dollars worth of missiles on to their cities. I guess as long as we film it from a distance it's not the same, right?

These guys are great, it's a nice blend of acoustic guitar, fuzzed bass, some electronics(not too noticeable), and brass.

Really cerebral and surreal stuff pulled off without sounding like over-compressed garbage.

I have a solution that I can almost guarantee you will work... Call him up/have a seat with him/drop him an e-mail and just flat out tell him you'd like to bury the hatchet. Ask him about specific problems he has with you, swallow your pride, apologize, and explain yourself. If you're open with the fellah and present yourself as sincere and in a non-confrontational manner, chances are he'll take what you have to tell him seriously and probably be sincere right back at you.

Who knows, you may end up being buddies with the guy.

Hmm, if you can manage to save up a little more, I'd suggest an Apple Powerbook. Those lil' puppies are pretty slick pieces of equipment.

I found a few within the range you're looking to spend though:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=34-149-007&DEPA=3

While I'm not daydreaming of playing a modern day Trotsky, I'm aspiring to study Pharmacology and hopefully get acquire one of those PhDs that make people take you seriously. Aside from wanting to be called *Dr.* Joe, I want to revive public research of the psychedelics. I'm specifically interested in the entheogens that occur in nature, such as Dimethyltryptamine and Psilocybin. The likes of Terence & Dennis McKenna, Tim Leary, Jonathan Ott, as well as my experiences the aforementioned indoles are what pushes me in this direction.

Marriage and life goals.... well, I'll probably end up marrying my current sweetheart and build a big windmill-house in Europe or Canada in the middle of nowhere. I'm most likely to become an eccentric old man publishing bizarre pseudo-philosophy

I'm a vinyl geek, I collect records. Mostly 60's psychedelia, Chicago blues, Jazz, and a few modern releases.

I've also taken to collecting various artifacts and artwork from early central/south american civilizations. I have some pretty nifty replica mayan stone sculptures, a painting, some old carved jade figuress, and the Aztec and Mayan calendars on brass fixtures.

Edit: I left out my book collection. I have a bit of a library of books on politics, philosophy, pharmacology, culture, religion, and a smaller selection of fiction.

My name is a rather fun naturally occurring psychedelic tryptamine that has had a profound impact on many lives throughout history.

You could probably get it running with a program called PearPC, but don't expect to do any video editing or any other processor-stressing work.
Your best bet would be to start saving for a G5 Powermac or wait a while for the G5 iMacs. OS X/Darwin is a wonderful platform, it's been my favorite after toying with various flavors of *nix and windows.
