Another language quiz. From me. How boring. As always, points will be awarded. Here are the rules. I give a word and either "synonym", "definition", or "both" in brackets without quotes of course. This is just a game that can give you points for defining/synonym-ing words. "both" needs an answer for both a synonym and a definition, and no dividing up the things. Use only your mind as a source, nothing else. Some questions may have more than one word, you are not allowed to answer them separately. Any comments may be included in the brackets too. You may not use any form of the root word in the definition. These words are known well, but defined or replaced more difficultly. Good luck! 1. number (both), worth 2 points 2. calendar (synonym), worth 1 point 3. pen (definition) and pencil (definition), worth 1 point 4. smile (definition) and frown (synonym) and expression (synonym, any form of the word), worth 2 points 5. a (both), worth 3 points (edited by Geno on 03-27-04 10:24 PM) (edited by Geno on 03-30-04 07:06 PM) |

The bird/fish one I've seen before. And for the missing space one... seen that too. Spoiler: The bottom picture has the shapes arranged to have more area than the top one, and it's exactly one square more. |

Sorry Clockworkz, I accidentally typed schmultz, I meant schmaltz. Changed. Nudnik is answered, your answer is better but it was late. Abnausem: It's Abomasum. You didn't need the examples... |

There should be a one-post editable thread that has links to all this kind of stuff, kind of like the "help thread" in the old board.

I'll have to say, this is very creative. You could make the Big Boo fight at the start a little easier by placing 4 or even 5 blocks instead. The wind level was quite brilliantly planned at the end. If you fix up some parts, you'll have a very fun hack!

Oh yeah, two more suggestions. Verdant means "green", from the French word "vert", green. The levels show this well (BG), except for the one level with the clouds spelling "NO!!!" or something like that. Maybe try to make the FG more greenish, adding some green decorations and such. And your pirahnas have red stems, and look wrong. You should use the pirahna stem the cave has, and you can use custom palettes to get the greens (two shades of them). The palette the plant has should have a sprite palette that has only 5 or 6 colors used. The other black colors are hardcoded by ASM (which I hope Fu might be able to fix), but with custom palettes on they are useable. |

Well, the stems don't look wrong actually. They look a little bit odd in red, though.

I believe you need to change the alignment thing in the font tag to "top". Not sure though...

And there's SMAS to maybe add on the list, because SMW is obviously fully editable (LM), SMB3 is supported by MI3, and SMB2 is partially supported by SMB2D. We just need a SMB1 and a SMB2J editor, which can probably be put together. If anybody doesn't know the acronyms, I'll just clear things up. SMAS = Super Mario All-Stars SMW = Super Mario World LM = Lunar Magic SMB3 = Super Mario Bros. 3 SMB2 = Super Mario Bros. 2 SMB1 = Super Mario Bros. 1 SMB2J = Super Mario Bros. 2 Japanese, which is the Lost Levels, a harder version of SMB1. MI3 = Mario Improvement 3 SMB2D = SMB2 Level Discombobulator |

1. Wow. Nice. Points to you. 2. That's good. 3. Clockworkz won, very specific. 4. Yes. 5. Clockworkz, you may not use the word "a" in the definition of "a". I know, annoying, but I've managed to do it before. Your "an" thing is acceptable, though. It's up for grabs, this time with definition only and it's worth only 2... Changed the rules a little, will edit this post for Round 2. Round 2- 5. a (definition), worth 2 points 6. dot (definition) and line (definition) and circle (synonym) and square (synonym), worth 2 points 7. English (definition) and French (definition) and Spanish (definition), worth 1 point 8. yes (both) and no (both), worth 1.5 points 9. box (synonym), worth 0.5 points 10. list (both) and change (both) and water (definition, no science-ish definitions like H2O) worth 2 points (edited by Geno on 03-30-04 07:16 PM) |

Wow. That's seven points to you, making you take the lead. Congratulations, I'll post Round Three tomorrow. The scoreboard's in my bio. It's the full list of won points. |

Hmmm... possibly there could be a sticky LM/BI next release request thread... This is interesting, it might come in handy. Again, it might be annoying if you want to put a fast throwing one strategically for challenge, but who wants that much challenge nowadays? |

Round 3- (now a point famine ) All are worth 0.5 points, and have the setting "both". The theme is obvious: anagrams. 11. part and tarp 12. diaper and repaid 13. earth and heart 14. live and veil and evil 15. pear and rape (please, not that rape, the other one.) 16. sag and gas 17. (to break the rule), w00t and l33t Next round, it will go to 20 with very high-scoring questions. |

I believe all of these are actually possible, but they would take more than two GFX slots for FG and BG... |
