Alrighty, Ill just, start up a new puzzler, maybe something to make people think more "out of the box" as you might say.

"Lateral thinking" is thinking out of the box, so lateral thinking puzzles are puzzles that are made to make you "think outside the box" Ill give one problem, worth points 1-5, and wait 1 day for an answer, during which, 2 hints will be given out if needed, but detracting from the score 1 point per hint.

Later thinking puzzles have seemingly imposible answers, but are very obvious when you get the answer. Prizes will be awarded at the end of 50 puzzles. Good luck to all!

Puzzle 1(1 point)

Happy or Sad?

"Three women dressed in swimsuits are standing together. Two of them were sad, and the other one was happy, but the sad women were smiling, and the happy woman was crying. Why should that be so?"

Maybe they're crying/smiling for each other's emotions?

The happy woman had tears of joy. The sad women were smiling over how happy thier friend is?

Maybe not. That doesn't explain the significance of the swimsuits. Maybe the happy woman just had hers ripped off, and the others are just evil.

Maybe I'm just sick.

There was a swimming contest, or a beauty pagent, or something of the sort and the 3 women are on a podium. The happy one is crying tears of joy while 2nd and 3rd place are sad to lose but smile to the crowd.

Im just gonna give NSNick the points now.

The answer was he was buried in the Poet's Corner of Westminster Abby. The plot for him was so small, he had to be buried sitting up.

Puzzle 4 (4 points)
Dinner For Three

"An ancient Arabic Puzzle goes like this: A hunter met two shepherds, one whom had three loaves and the other, five loaves. All of the loaves were the same size. The three men agreed to share the eight loaves equally between them. After they had eaten, the hunter gave the shepherds eight bronze coins as payment for the meal. How should the shepards fairly divide the money?"

In this case, fairly doesn't equal "equal".

The shepherd with 5 loaves gets paid 5 coins and the shepherd with 3 loaves gets paid 3 coins.

If they divided the loaves equally (8/3), then each of them would have eaten 2 loaves and two thirds of a loaf. Therefore, Mr. Five "provided" 21/3 loaves, and Mr. Three "provided" only 1/3. The ratio of 21/3 : 1/3 is equal to 7:1.

Therefore, Mr. Five gets seven coins and Mr. Three gets one.

You know what I hate? The fact that I've got books of this stuff, so I know a lot of these already. I won't ruin it for other people, since I didn't actually figure it out.
