There are still games that have problems in VBA. Namely:

Classic NES series
Shantae (GFX errors, it looks fine in BGB)
GBA Video (I think)
F-Zero GP Legend (slowdown during races)
Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green (a bit slow in certain battles, usually if started in the grass)

It could use link cable and SGB border support too.

Doubtful. My CPU is 1.1ghz, and it only does that when battling in grass. Every other battle location plays at 100% (the grass runs 95%). However, F-Zero GP Legend is worse. The emulation speed goes down to 80% in a race. Special effects (as in the DKC2 mist) cause slowdown too. GBA Video is viewable in RBA, but not VBA.

Since there appear to be more like these, I'm going to start writing a compatibility FAQ. Anyone wanna help by testing other emulators and games?

Posted on 06-20-04 06:46 AM, in Darn, another saving issue! Golden Sun 2 this time... Link
Just like in my thread about Mario vs. Donkey Kong, this one won't save after I got it. GBA emulators are usually automatic when detecting the save type, but some games don't like that. Trying a different emulator didn't help either. Luckily, only a slim few games do this at first. Now what should be done?

Does anyone know how many units this game has sold? In other words, please, please, please tell me! I go berserk just thinking about it.

And yes, I'm aware that my post is unusual.

Excellent! Those YI graphics really stand out. And, those hills somehow remind me of the style Donkey Kong Country uses (anyone listening? that could make an awesome hack).

Posted on 06-27-04 11:43 AM, in Help! IE homepage = WTF? Link
It's still happening in IE (no other browser is affected). This isn't too serious, but how and why do such settings change on their own? No spyware or viruses are on the computer. It could be in my registry. The homepage problem is easy to fix, but just keeps coming back. Even upgrading to the new JVM and installing SP2 on Windows didn't help. Here's the name/path of two suspicious files.

C:\DOCUME~1\Rocket\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html (the page being loaded)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jmhhmf.dll (mysterious BHO for IE, has a different name each time my homepage switches back to that one I took a picture of)

http://s1di.d8t.biz/index.php Ahha! This page is almost identical to what's causing my trouble. I found it by looking at the annoying homepage's source info. On the very bottom was an address which redirects itself to what I typed in bold.

Aggh! If I'm not the only one here who's starting to hate MSIE...

This is quite unusual. Every time I try to download a file (building, city, etc) from the Simcity 3000 unlimited exchange, IE says "Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options..."

Going into the security menu and enabling every feature there is still won't let me download anything. What's up with this wretched browser!? Is there an option that will allow all activeX controls & plugins to run?

Edit: Oh boy, this is FAR worse than I thought. The game itself isn't working either.
I'll need a patch or something to make Simcity 3000 Unlimited work in Windows XP.

I'm sure you know the story behind what happened the last time I tried hacking R/S. That whole Treecko issue, then the ROM gave out and now just gives a blank "white screen of death". What in the hell does that mean? My computer resetting while in Elitemap shouldn't have corrupted the file! However, I want to hack so much that I'm still not quitting. Anyway...

How do I get TrainEd to work? Dumping the trainer image bank goes to trainer-045.bmp (which is blank), then RSball freezes since it appears to be the highest valid entry. Also: Is it possible to change the name and palette for trainers? How do I edit the title screen?

Speaking of white screens, why doesn't Final Fantasy 2 (in FF1+2 advance) seem to work in any emulators? FF1 plays just fine.

OK. My sapphire rom loads in PET, but it also wants those same images. I get an error message looking for "trainer-046.bmp" after clicking on the very top listed trainer. Would it be alright for somebody to post (or send me) the proper files?

There seem to have been no new ROMs dumped in the last 5 days. WTF do you think is going on? I'm certainly not ready for them to quit (not until all the Pokemon games are out anyway). Go ahead and rant about any other complaints you have with GBA emulation! I'd like to know why Final Fantasy 2 (in 1+2) won't work...

Posted on 09-01-04 06:21 AM, in PS2? Link
Since my PC is capable of online games, I'm curious about what options PS2 might have. I did use the DC web browser a little, but it was slow, none of my games can be played online, and I don't have dialup anymore (so the modem won't work). Why I'm asking:

A- I'd like to play more than just first or third person shooters.
B- I can't afford Xbox Live.
C- There's nothing worth the effort on GCN. PSO would be way too expensive, having to buy the BB adapter (let alone finding a store that actually sells one), a router or hub for the connection, and the monthly fee.

My current setup is 1 Windows PC connected to DSL via Ethernet, with no router/hub or hardware firewall. I'll need to know what games are good and exactly how to get the Internet into a PS2's network adapter (I haven't bought it yet). Be clear, I'm a n00b when it comes to this.

Their website is still up. Some of Acclaim's wrestling games are superb even compared to what's been made the last year or 2 (yuck! ), WWF Warzone is cool.

What I'm trying to find out is how to connect the adapter if I ever get one. A diagram would be nice.

It's Lugia, Ho-oh and Deoxys that can be found. Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi aren't in the game. It starts to feel like a Ruby/Sapphire remake after a while.

I never have problems with the PS1 (except memory cards), PS2 or Xbox. But, that Gamecube... It's mostly those **** first party controllers refusing to calibrate well. Up is supposed to be UP, not 3/4 to the side or whatever! I had to get a used Mario Party 4 disc repaired, and Zelda Wind Waker once froze in the middle of an ocean. Not to mention that Metroid Prime elevator glitch. A spare Dreamcast I "borrowed" won't recognize the first controller port, and my Saturn doesn't remember it's saved games.

The most obvious thing here is that a PStwo would be nearly impossible to fit in (top-loading ). All of these are "ntsc-u" models. Yes, the odd GCN plug is connected to DK Bongos. Inside the systems? Xbox has Ninja Gaiden (got yesterday), GCN has SSBM, DC has SA2, and PS2 has Castlevania SOTN. Those cases above my DC are Rouge Leader, and Metal Arms on GCN. Not to mention the upside-down CD, it's WWF Wrestlemania the arcade game for PS1. That red Lego hat sure is ugly when not being worn...

Now it may seem wierd to ask, but I need to know the basics of riding one. I've got the pads, helmet, etc. I especially don't understand how to turn. It doesn't have a steering wheel, of course. Any tutorials or whatever?

Somehow, I ended up with a strange looking treasure box that has Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda images on it. I've never seen such a thing on any collector's sites. Lots more mysterious than the familar SMB2 wallet(s) I have.
