Posted on 03-30-05 01:20 PM, in An idea about the question one thread below this one Link
It's found here
What about a ghost mode ?

People might be able to select if they want to be shown or not on online.php and everywhere the user name is displayed. So the text line might display instead of "1 user currently in Help / Suggestions: user xyz" something like "2 users in Help / Suggestions: <user name list>, 2 ghosts/hidden users.

So they could be logged in and, whyever, could decide if they want to be active but not shown. This should be considered to be allowed viewed by admins for spamming and other purposrs. But other than that, the users would be hidden from all other users.

-> AntiVir PE - although it sends a lot of MB per update, it is a good free virus scanner (they must no be compared with paid ones, though, but it is actually the best German one) and with broadband/flat rate no big problem to update it though.
Performing a full scanning every two weeks. Usually nothing to find

-> Spybot - heh, checking ... once per month and never finding a tracking cookie again after the first run (removing Alexa and stuff)

-> Ad-Aware, see Spybot. Two eyes will see more than only one.

-> brain.exe

Edit: Something messes up the post, changing the grammar - eh ?
Quote me to see it

Edit2: Suddenly .. fixed

Nice choice, XK. That book has a holywood like ending, but until that, it is really a good read - if you have nothing against Brown's writing style.

But I doubt that only the knowledge of TRNSLATR's story will prevent viruses to haunt a non-protected machine

I'm topping you:
Zero viruses since several years, on that new machine since October 2004 also nothing new. Oh well, is it a "dick (length) comparison" about the number of viruses, how we would call that in Germany ?

I may lose that competition, but I'm rather happy to have zero viruses on that machine

Posted on 04-06-05 09:23 PM, in AcmlmBoard 1.A2 distributable released; hell slightly chilly. Link
Nice work though, I could set up it (previously deleted the old board files and SQL tables in phpMyAdmin) but had no SQL files, so registering a user from the board doesn't work; unlike setting up it in PMA works
I needed to use an old install.php from my AcmlmBoard 1.8x to create the SQL table structure, but still can't write into the SQL file data from the board

If I know how to fix that (or probably more, that Lycos sucks ), good. The new board is pretty amazing and contained some features I missed already.
Also the new register feature is neat; since I regged 2 1/2 years ago, I dunno know about the "new" registration, how it was used like in many other board systems

I have no problem with the window size in 1152 x 864, although the main reply window is slightly shorter than that one in editpost.php. But, then there are three windows in a row (two additional ones for post header and signature), so the sizes may be well chosen for people who have lower screen resolutions of 800 x 600 for example

Very long URLs like google image links (whoever want to use these ) get broken anyway on other boards too.

Blurriness sucks ... even though I have ClearType turned on on my newer XP computer, and using a CRT (which is in repair underway ).

Joke threads like this need to be prepared - and that didn't happen properly here
Heh, putting up my old classic avatar makes me more happy --- and is as important as the plain message of that thread

What is the point clicking the small "Login" button then ?
This actually bites with the thread of me, posted here too (ghost/invinsibile option)

I'm satisfied with the current way. Sometimes I may not be on my own computer, but another one. I won't need an extra logout command and can post with my password, without the fear I could forget to log out and someone else could misuse that. Sometimes my name is shown in brackets by purpose in the user list

Another idea might be to put a small checkbox into the login page/JavaScript code, which would be named

"Log me in permanently on this computer"

So if you did not check that box, it might log you out after fifteen minutes of inactivity then automatically. Not exactely what proposed, but maybe a solution some other users might want to share too

If dunno know how many resources Dillo uses, but since my main PC is being repaired, I'm using K-Meleon on my old one. It starts up a lot faster than Firefox but lacks some convenient details. But it supports mouse gestures by default and allows to modiy user specific files like userContent.scc, user.js and others via the preferences menu

When the computer comes back - I need to use that one for my work - I'll give it a shot then

I created a hotmail account for signing up my MSN account in 2002. I didn't know it could be done with every other account too then
But since I logged in twice in two years, each time MSN said my mailbox was closed due to non-usage. Why use hotmail when I have three e-mails ?
My Gmail one - shown in the profile, a freemail one - and my main one which I got from my ISP

I don't have RMXP on that machine, but it's far easier than expected
To enter a custom name, create an event with a "Enter Hero Name" command, which allows you to enter a screen with letters and your cursor, good old videogame style

The name will overwrite the default name of the selected hero.
To display the name in a message, put

/n[<four-digit-hero-number>]

into a "Show Message" command. If you use the default hero, put it 0001 into the parantheses.

Same here, I use them if my boss calls me and I need to do something (yes, I'm working at home, backing all my important stuff very often), but on the other hand things the Ancient Cave in Lufia II lose their full challenge when save-stated.

If I had a camera (or maybe taking one with my crappy cell phone cam ), I'd take a screenshot from my Lufia II cartridge, showing 97 hours in total, thus 80 hours spent for the Ancient and fully completed, except two Iris treasures
This on an emulator with save-stating ... no; I really "enjoyed" the Gold Dragons later, sacrificing an entire sunday, after I was not careful enough and got wiped out by "Stardust" three times

I finished that good ... roleplaying game too, but didn't knew about that cheat and if it even worked in the PAL version too
Hcking FFMQ ?

The enemy behaviour is too stupid, and if it might be worth to replace GFX and to change the dungeons via hex editing, is another question. Except some tracks (Focus Tower, normal and Boss Battle, Last Battle) I didn't like FFMQ that much

Nightwish - "The Kinslayer" from the album "Wishmaster"

A nice and fast track, supported by fast drums and well-placed usage of e-guitars.
The text is broken up weird in its syllables, but I like the song.
That CD is an older one and some may call that group commercialized, but I like the music they make.

On the other hand I'm currently really addicted to the group "Machinae Supremacy", even their homepage offers a lot of *legal* downloads

I couldn't install an AB 1.92 over my old 1.81 one.
Then I deleted all the SQL tables. Since a new reinstall also failed, I simply used the ... install.php from AB 1.81 () to recreate all the SQL table files, maybe missing one or two new ones which came with the newer versions.

The stats are images, generated by the GD image. Since it's still disabled, you have to use a layout without displaying images, but showing plain text numbery only.

Go into Edit Profile and change the following option to that one shown below:

What file size shows the inserted disc icon in Windows Explorer ?
HH, if you have another program installed (although it is said no to have more than one burning application at once), what shows that about the free disk space ?
It should not be an ASPI problem, since Nero brings its own ASPI when installed.

If you recently upgraded your Nero version and it worked better before, you should "downgrade" again
