I've been on Bisqwit's site since November (oddly enough, he even registered here a month before ), seeing the 8 minute SMB2 run inspired me to do some of my own:

- Tetris in 4:06 - fastest time to 999999, but I recently found an even better way so I might improve it later
- Monopoly in 0:35 (0:56 with the last turn) - how to abuse luck to get anyone bankrupt in 2 turns
- Dragon Warrior in 19:31 - that old RPG is really short when you take out the leveling part and random fights
- The Krion Conquest in 16:31 (not published yet) - Hard Megaman clone that now looks easy, while the character learned how to climb on walls

I have quite a few more I haven't submitted (or finished yet), mostly test runs or messing around with different games to find a good one to make a run of ...

The fun thing with those non-legit runs is that they really push the game to its limits and often show godly gameplay or unusual tricks (or glitches), or (like with luck manipilation) things that could never happen normally

About 4-5 cups of wine and I'm tipsy enough to start acting weirder (but still type fine), or half a big bottle of mint cream and I'm totally drunk and sick the next day, that's all I know from what I've experienced and I'm sure everyone remembers that one time I was drunk

I'm still using Pulse from the other Project Dolphin clone (Project Orca) that died maybe over a year ago, I'm up to 11.4 million since last pulse ... but if I join here and send that as my first pulse, I might look like a cheater, so I think I'll just start over from 0

It doesn't let me run both either, so I'll have to stop the old dead one

I just checked for me, changing both the posts and date:
Total posts: 40010 (26.88 per day)
Level: 266
EXP: 308769809
Gain: 11575 EXP per post, 0.833 seconds to gain 1 EXP when idle
Right above 40000, and passed 300 million EXP (mostly from idle EXP gain) My posting average really fell quite a bit more though ...

Current top 10 with the combined total:
#NameOldNewTotal

Colleen passed me soon after I hit 40000, as some of you already know if you check that certain other forum

But yeah, I'm not restoring anyone to the old total

The .fcm for my Krion Conquest run is still available on the page I linked to (while a .avi of it isn't), so all you need is the ROM and their modified version of FCEU and you can watch it

The game itself really isn't that great though, Megaman pretty much had everything better, and the ending is really crappy for how insanely hard it normally is to get there, but the run still has its fun parts since I go through the whole game fast without ever dying or unnecessarily getting hit

The randomization in Dragon Warrior depends entirely on the timing (for battle encounters too), so I just had to find the shortest one that gave me what I wanted ... like to always get excellent hits, always succeed with Hurt and Sleep against the Dragonlord (it's normally a 1/16 chance), keep it asleep the whole time ... and of course, to get only the fights I need, like all the Metal Slimes at the start, the 2 Goldmen, and the few times I die by purpose

On Bisqwit's site?

If you read carefully there, it's a site about "Tool-assisted console game movies", meaning slowdowns and savestates were used while recording, to do many things that are normally impossible Most movies there even had many thousands of re-records (reloading from a savestate), not only to avoid getting hit (or whatever) but also to get perfect timing or manipulate luck ... and they're all real, just obviously not played in realtime They get submitted as emulator recordings (from reset, no cheats), voted on, and then published if accepted (.avi is made) ...

Look at my Monopoly one for example (it's very short), just think how many times you'd have to try to get the "perfect game", and try to get through the starting menu that fast

EDIT: Just as more fun and games, anyone figure out how it calculates the levels? It's fairly simple, since I'm not exactly a complex calculation kinda guy, but soon (around Lv70, I think) levels are 1 million EXP/keys long, which takes a long time x___x)
Hmm yeah, I think that yellow on blue is better, but separating the border and text color would be nice

And Level = EXP^(1/4)

(Stage EVENT) - Omoide Ga Ippai [Ranma 1/2 3rd Opening] \ CoCo from Hiryuu
HEAVY 8 [2X] - AA - PERFECT 650/730 - GREAT 73 - GOOD 5 - BOO 0 - MISS 2 - MINES 0/0 - OK 12 - NG 4 - COMBO 271/781 - ERRORS 18936 - SCORE 149432678
I got AA in it on my first try (and still A at 1.5x), so it really can't be that hard The only thing that threw me off was the few sudden stops (causing the 2 misses and 4 NG's) ...

Posted on 02-26-05 09:59 PM, in ClearType Link
I use ClearType on a normal screen, have been using it since 2002 (when I got Windows XP and found out about it), and it never annoyed me at all I don't even notice the colors unless I zoom in or flip horizontally, and I use a fairly low resolution ...

There's just one setting you have to configure so that the antialiased text is neither too thin (like Karadur's example) or too bold, and then it looks good ...

ClearType also makes tiny text like this readable

As for "Standard" (which came with Windows 98, not 95), I never really liked the fact it only works on bold/bigger text, and it just doesn't look as smooth and clean to me, so I never used that

If it was up to me, I'd have fixed it long ago (it's been 3 months now), but there's nothing at all I can do about it

I'd really like it back myself, but not only for the number graphics, it's also for things like activity.php (posting activity graph), status.php (I had that on my desktop), and even the GunBound rank set and part of my layout (that I had to redirect to my local server's copy), a lot of the board's special features depended on it ...

That took long enough, but I've finally done it
(Stage EVENT) - The IMPOSSIBLE Song (The End of Hope) \ Konami from Hiryuu [0.3xMusic]
P1 - HEAVY 15 [3X] - B - PERFECT 1616/2435 - GREAT 621 - GOOD 135 - BOO 34 - MISS 29 - MINES 0/0 - OK 84 - NG 0 - COMBO 203/2660 - ERRORS 143197 - SCORE 73790304

(screenshot)

Of course, that was played at 0.3x, with judge 1 and life 1, and I had to fix the song offset, but that's what it took to make the impossible possible This is how fast someone would need to be to (almost) pass it normally, as shown by one of my previous attempts made to look like 1x instead of 0.3x ...

But I also passed Standard at 0.6x with normal difficulty, and can get B on Light normally

As for other songs, I can now score a full combo (and AA) in Legend of MAX on Standard and get A on Heavy, and usually A or B in other relatively hard ones, but I still can't believe how fast I've improved ever since I started playing this, when anything on Heavy seemed impossible

I got AA (94.2 million) on Paranoia Survivor MAX Oni today, and AA (96.3 million) on Quasar Almost did it on Legend of MAX Heavy too (94.8 million, 92.4%) ...

But that's still no AAA, getting perfect timing all the way through seems much harder than just getting all the arrows right

I still have yet to try it on feet, and don't know when I'll ever have a chance, but that would be interesting

First one for me (in 1998 on the NES) was Fighter, Black Belt, White Mage, Black Mage ... I beat the game around Level 35, then I did it with a Fighter alone at 50

I haven't had a chance to play any of the FF1 remakes, unless I decide to search for the ROM
