hey, vgp, i found a few visual glitches. i noticed the gfx for some 8x8 tiles in the treetops for your forest levels are the pictures of x's. you might want to look into that. see forest of illusion and lemmy's land 2 and look at the corner- edge 8x8 tiles of the treetops in those levels. also, there are a few other visual glitches, such as two frames when rob is flying, and if rob smiles while on chogobi. in these instances, his head is slid off to the side a bit. you could fix them with a hex editor, at least by what i heard. (i don't have a clue on how to use one)

hope you like my little survey, i don't think i have found any other glitches

yes, i did that, and made morton have 255hp well i decicded to change some nearby '03's to 'ff's to see if i could get ludwig and roy to have 255 hp, i believe i changed xD1F5 and xD157. i fought ludwig, and he had 255 hp, but every time he bounced to the right, he did this freaky ninja- spinning thing! you really need to try this!

i really know almost nothing about hex editing, so you might not wanna ask me any questions about it. hope you like it

to give ludwig, morton or roy 5HP open an hex editor and choose offset xD1CD, thats where these 3 bosses' HP is stored. Change the byte from 03 to 05 or any other number..this 'any other number' of course will be the boss HP

Hope this helps ya

thanx! i figured that out, but thanx anyway. hey, you really gotta try this funny thing i did to ludwig in the hex editor. go check out my reply in the "memory addresses has returned" sticky, it is soooo funny! you can do it too, it requires changing a few bytes that are easy to find.

Second, is there an item that makes coins turn to 'used' blocks? I know it isnt a very technical question but I cannot find an item that does that.

1. I'm not very sure on this, but I think this may be possible with ASM...

2. Yes, Blue P-Switches will do the trick...

yes, it is very possible with ASM, although finding the value that must be altered is not easy. Atma X found the rex's hp value at 197B8, and someone else found morton/roy/ludwig's hp at D1CD. you need a hex editor to change these values. hope this helps...

I love this topic.

If I could remake any game, I would definitely redo Kirby's Dream Course! It is for the SNES. Has anyone played it before? It's a minigolf game starring your favorite little pink hero!

If not that, I'd hire programmers to make it possible for hundreds of sprites at once in SMW. ...

How is it possible to make a help file? You know, like the one with Lunar Magic, with a .hlp extension? I mean, none of my friends know how to do it, so I looked here to see if anyone can tell me. Thanks.

Oh, and please forgive me mods, if I put this in the wrong forum, I don't know exactly which forum to post it in, so I went here.

Thanks again,

Don't cry! Because if it is a scrolling problem, such as you go upwards so far, you see garbled animations in the BG, try changing the layer 2 scrolling rate. Use the 'change other properties' thingy, and set the vertical scrolling to slow or none. Hope that helps! Well, if it is not a scrolling problem, I have no way to help because I have no idea of any way how to make garbled graphics unless it is by scrolling.

Please forgive the long post (that is, if it seems long), I am not very good at making short ones!

wow! this is really a neat tool! thanks, hyperhacker! I would really appereciate it if you could figure out what those unknown thingys in the top-right of the window would do. maybe a key that doesn't interact with a keyhole or other sprites, and can be stcked, like the SMB2 mushrooms! that would rock!

you can't yet. but blackhole89 is woring on a program to edit the music, but i hear it is fairlt hard to use. check that thread 'Solar Soundtrack Unfrozen' for details.

if you can't wait for it to come out, use the hack with the music changes by bouche. it has SMB3 music in it.

hope it helps,

the picture it shows when it bounces is a sprite. sprites and foreground tiles use different tilesets. the GFX for this sprite is in GFX00.bin, or the very beginning of ALLGFX.bin. that is, after you have extracted the graphics.

hope this helps,

the truth is, with lunar magic, you can't. but many other programs, such as tile layer pro and yy-chr can edit it. you need to extract the GFX from the rom with the red mushroom button, and the internal GFX is in the last two files.

hope this helps,

well, are you saying that you want the turn block and the bounce-sprite of the turnblock to have different pallettes? well, they do (tiles use the first 8 palettes and sprites use the last 8.). so just change the palette that it uses, custom palette for a single level, and if you want it to actually use a different palette, you can wait for sprite paint, or just use custom palettes on every level that has a turn block, but yes, waiting for sprite paint sounds better.

well this looks great, i like the idea of a huge last world. if you fix the few things keikonium pointed out, it'll be next to perfect (nothing is perfect).

BTW, keikonium, look what number your last post in this tread was!

Now I might have longer descriptions than everyone else, but it's all for the better if you take heed, now. Ahem.

This picture gets a 7/10, due to a few things.
1: Luigi could use a bit of a lighter color for his face.
2: The platform looks fine, but just darken the pink and orange colors of the palette it is using.
3: Thwomp looks great.
4: Background looks cool, but it CAN hold more than just 16 of those 8X8 tiles, you know. add a little something in between the pillars. If not that, then make the background color black, because I have never seen maroon light!
5: Now the last thing is that the blocks here look like they have a light outline and might also look goood if the blue was a bit lighter. Graphics are fine, just change the palette.

Wow! 9/10! I know you didn't get a ten, but I'm a bit hard to please.
1: The outline around the item box is orange, but it doesn't pose as a problem in my eyes, because it seems to... blend in! This may not need to be fixed.
2: The treasure chests that replace the brown used blocks are a bit strange since they float.... hmmm.... maybe you could use animations and put a little hand-drawn propeller tile underneath each chest!
3: AWESOME background.
4: I seem to notice the flower a bit more here, so I'll say this here. The others say the flower looks wierd, but they have problems. It looks fine. I see nothing wrong with it.

Pretty average. 8/10.
1: Lacks sprites. That is, unless you already killed off a few enemies.
2: Put one more berry or two on the bush.
3: Same floating problem with chests, I still suggest little propellers.
4: The white background color suggests an overcast day. Since you already have clouds, it looks like a strange fog or mist feeling. Make it a lighter blue.

Very involved, I give 10/10.
1: The idea of using clear translucent blocks for widows is very neat, and it even looks realistic!
2: The rain does make it a bit unclear. Remove a drop or two from the animation.
I have something to say to cpubasic13. These pictures are not and do not look stolen. He did not edit the graphics or much less use layer 3 in any of the photos, exept for the overworld photo. The graphics were changed, and that is all, and that is very possible, you know. Why am I saying this here? I just got the feeling that in this particular photo, you thought the rain was on layer 3. If that is the case, no, he put it on layer 2 and enabled the priority for the rain tiles.

Hmm, this needs some work... 6/10.
Mostly a decoration problem, I'll list the decoorations I think you might want to add.
1: Clouds. If you put a few layer 1 clouds in this overworld island, it'll look a bit more realistic. I am sure that at least one of these levels in this area has a cloud background.
2: Palette. Like everyone else said, the palette for the starting pad is messed up. Easily fixed, you know.
3: Graphics. Maybe a little sparkle or two in the level tile would look nice. And I am assuming the "T" stands for your name, right?
4: Graphics (again). The island does, come to think of it, look a bit square. Maybe put a few jagged edges on it. Oh, and put a little island or two in the water.
5: Layer 3 looks good here, although I suggest something else to replace the fireball graphics.

Looks great, but 2-point deduction from charging chuck. 7/10.
1: Why 2 entire points? The head for the charging chuck is seriously weird (halloween was 2 days ago, dangit) I mean, videogamerpat did a great job with the koopa head for the chuck, and I think you could do a much better job too if you put a little more effort into it.
2: Luigi's fireball looks cool, now I suggest that, if possible, you use more than one color for the fireball, 2, maybe three, but only if possible without messing up any other palettes. It already looks fine, but that was only a little tip.
3: The coin looks fine, but there's a little thing you must remember. This is not the first version of this hack you released, so make it say V.2. I assume (again) that the "T" is for your name.

Great going with everything else in these shots, Link2004!

"I did the best I can with what I had and what I know, so its up to you guys to criticize my game's backgrounds, rain, and overworld without even playing the hack."

Well, a few other people are being a little agressive, and I assure you, their explanations were a bit short. I like a good hack, so I separately reviewed each screenshot with tips on improving it, so your hack could be better. I never critisized, or a least tried not to, and I hope my info will help enrich your hack. It is true I haven't played this hack, and I don't plan to because I can just watch my little brother play it, because he liked your first version of this hack, but these were all judged from the screenshots.

"I worked real hard to make this game enjoyabe, so I hope everyone have fun playing this hack."

It seems very enjoyable to me, and I bet those that have played it have had a good time.

And I know this was a lengthy review, but I wanted the hack to be improved. If you would like, you could e-mail the unlocked versoin of the hack to me (IPS, of course.) if you want me to touch up the levels and fix graphics and all, and I could sent it back for your evaluation. I assure you now, that I wouldn't steal graphics from your hack for use in my hack, steal levels, or overworld, or anything for that matter if you want me to touch up your hack. My e-mail is swilder@mchsi.com. So, that's about it. Hope this all helps!

DarkLudwig.
