I'm not going to withdraw my statement because it's part of the Holy Communion. Plus, it's not like I didn't know that before. I doubt that drinking the wine(blood of Christ) and eating the bread(flesh of Christ), has any meaning to people who don't believe in Eucharism. It doesn't pose any image of brutality or savage acts. Any enjoyment to an excess is harmful. I dont watch anime to an excess that my judgment skills are skewed. You really haven't said why you see marijuana as just a pleasure. Elaborate, please.

If you only smoke it once a month, why do you defend its use so much? And saying that it's a cultural Scythian thing doesn't legitimize it. Culture and tradition are things that can be avoided; your interests are determined by your choices, not by your genes. Breathing is something you can't live without. And since you don't have an addictive personality, I think smoking pot is something you CAN live without. It doesn't seem to really have any positive side effects. Your time wasted using pot can be used for other forms of enjoyment which are less harmful. You know it's harmful which is why you've limited its use.

Personally, I believe that alcohol, tobacco, AND drugs are big problems. (So obviously I don't think that laws really reflect my thinking) Pot may be illegal but I find it sad that I am no longer surprised that people I know use drugs or have used them.(In a small town with less than 5,000) So, I find it as my duty to try and stop people I know from making dumb decisions.(After all, most people will get addicted to drugs, so I'd best warn them of its dangers) And I'm not one trying to control people's lives, only supporting my opinion.(Drugs are stupid)

Originally posted by Zem Well, I didn't say that potsmokers are all dumb, just a lot. However, the rollercoaster thing does not apply because that is a natural danger. I could be staying in my house and still be at risk of it collapsing on me. Even though I can leave the house, how could I know that it's about to collapse? It's not necessarily something I control. The same applies to roller coasters but not really to drugs. Gavin: I prefer my cake with sprinkles of course. And by sprinkles, I assume you mean the standard jimmies. |

Yea man, I told you, didn't I? The guy making the show and Eiichiro Oda(manga dude, creator) were told to lengthen them as much as possible. (I've said this MANY times in this forum, mind you) So it's obvious that this whole thing is more for the money now than the art.

Nick and Zem: The collapsing house example still applies. |
Gavin: You expect me to be offended by you calling me gay? How childish.

I'm not telling anybody how to live their life. I am simply stating why I think it's bad. And everytime you guys lay an opposing viewpoint down directed at me, I respond. Except the difference is that I don't make fun at what you are doing. To me, drugs are a waste of time, money, and brain cells. And although the number of people I know who do it is astounding, it's still risky, because you CAN get caught. |

Well, that quote is true. I did say that. But I used the word "dumb decisions" because I feel that those are improper judgment calls. However, that does not mean the person using it is stupid and is a total nimrod, etc. And even though the effects of drug usage, however short, may not be visible, they are still there. Also, another main point I have is that why try it and risk being addicted? And those of you who aren't addicted and try it occassionally, why? After all,it is never more pleasureful than the first time you try a drug. |

I really don't see why you guys can't accept someone when they mention a religion in a sentence. Everytime that happens, you just bash their religion. And last I checked, such behavior isn't tolerated. I remember the days of yore when calling someone gay would result in a ban. (I learned that first hand, ) |

Cy: No it doesn't. I've seen it happen many a time, but nothing has happened. (I thought that someone would see it) Anyway, I haven't detected anything in Silvershield's reply that would lead you to believe that he is using the said rules of a religion as a false curtain. And that is a very insulting thing to say, mind you. And I find it absolutely HILARIOUS that someone must always bring up some scandal about priests when Catholicism is mentioned; it is largely irrelevant. It seems that you are just trying to point faults at the religion. (When in actuality, all you are doing is stating a point part of human behavior) |

Yea, definitely. I think Armitage is a better example, though. Simply because most of it takes place in cities. It follows the common cyberpunk model moreso than Iria because of the undertones and such as well as setting, etc. |

Originally posted by Silvershield Obviously, YOU are not a good reader, Gavin. Silvershield isn't talking about the presence of perfect Catholics. He is merely saying that one shouldn't consider themselves something if they aren't and can't back it up. It's as simple as that. (edited by The Dogan on 02-05-05 02:19 AM)

The only one I haven't played is X5. After X4, you can tell they're running out of ideas. Especially with enemies like Infinity Mijinion and Metal Shark Player. Great gameplay, terrible story. |
Spoiler: It also seems that in order to keep it interesting, they have to kill Zero off every so often and place Zero and X in an unfamiliar future.

The only problem with Scar's transmutation circle on his arm is that it would be undistinguishable at first site. Most people would easily mistake it as that tribal art stuff. |

You know, I'd like to think I live in the past also. However, there have never been any real good times for me. Because although I can look at things positively, good times I always look in the opposite manner. I look at them as transient objects that shall pass. And unfortunately, I am right. For instance, when I was six, I often cried because I knew my mother would one day leave me. Nothing happened suggesting such a thing, but it's just the thought of her leaving this mortal plane of existence that haunts me. And my friends in real life; although I have enjoyed many times with them, I don't have a kind of typical relationship. I don't hang out with them as they do with other friends in the same "group". I have barely ever gone out with them, even though I've known them for a while. (6-7 years) However, I can't keep looking on the bad side of things. It's only when I dwell on it that I get such feelings. I really can't change the way I deal with my friends. But I should value the time spent with them. We have had many close and meaningful conversations usually in private, but also laughed many times together; almost always in school. When I think about these things too much, I feel like my time on this planet has been wasted not pursuing true happiness, even though I never let my unhappiness get the best of me. While I KNOW that others live much worse than I; I can't really say that such a notion affects me. It's hard to not be unhappy and feel the worst when you encounter unhappy times. Maybe I will end up a person who is actually happy or maybe just a miserable being that dwells in the past; something I must decide. |

If you've stuck with it for a while like I have, it's funny seeing trends. For example, the "cool guy" of the show. First, Sasuke and Kakashi were really popular characters. Then, Naruto, followed by Gaara, and at the same time, other characters became huge. (During the chuunin exam) Then, possibly Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Itachi were considered cool. |
(That's not in their order of popularity, it's when they were at the height of their popularity) FUNimation should really learn how to release anime well because if they steal another good title and screw it up again, then I will jump off the GWB. |
