Well, first off I really haven't seen this movie, but I'd like to ask about it if anyone else has seen it.

Basically, what's the general plot? What can I expect? Please keep spoilers to an ultimate minimum.

I've heard it's an incredible movie, and recently I've seen a ton of comparisons to it in videogames, videogame magazines, movies, etc.

So it just kind of seems interesting.

It's a cyberpunk movie about this group of fugitive robots called replicants. The main character(played by Harrison Ford) goes out to find them and is known as a Blade Runner. Pretty cool movie. The whole atmosphere in the movie was a paradigm for other cyberpunk works to follow.(tv shows, movies, books, video games, anime, etc.) Similar to how The Road Warrior did the same for works set in the postapocalyptic future.

Now, if you enjoy anime, there are, coincidentally, two anime/manga which follow these styles closely. As far as cyberpunk goes, read the Battle Angel Alita manga(found in Barnes & Noble, Borders, etc.), and if you like stories set in the postapocalyptic future, go for Fist of the North Star.(ANYTHING BUT THE MOVIE, PLEASE)

If you want to get into Cyberpunk, read the genre defining novel Neuromancer. It really is the biggest contribution to cyberpunk...Pretty much...Ever.

Speaking of Neuromancer, I am currently trying to make a comeback as far as reading novels goes. I have four books that I need to read: Jurassic Park, The Two Towers, Mobile Suit Gundam, and I just cracked open Neuromancer.

This might be pretty random, but would Iria Zeriam / Armitage the 3rd fit as an "cyberpunk" type? (Animes)

Yea, definitely. I think Armitage is a better example, though. Simply because most of it takes place in cities. It follows the common cyberpunk model moreso than Iria because of the undertones and such as well as setting, etc.

I've been bought.

Hopefully I can pick this movie up or see it sometime soon.

But now that I think about it, yeah, Iria is quite different from Armitage, more like Star Wars to the least.

Judge Dredd's comic series is quite awe inspiring on that front.

I've seen the so-called director's cut of Blade Runner, and it's stunning. (It takes out Harrison Ford's narrative, which apparently Universal or whoever funded the movie made the director put it, and supposedly Ford did the narrative real crappy on purpose...so I heeeaaar. Can't say for sure if it's true.) That movie's got neat visuals, awesome music (hooray for Vangelis), and an ending that actually made my eyes a bit teary. I guess I have a thing for androids and computers that "feel"... 2001: A Space Odyssey made me tear up a little when HAL was being shut down.

*bump'd*

I just saw this last night, and I gots a question for any and all that saw it.

What happens at the end of the non-director's cut? And is there narration throughout the entire movie?

Because I saw the director's cut, which leaves many questions unanswered, but was supposed to be the original ending.

Then again, things aren't made better by the fact that the movie was a bastard child of 3 scripts, leading to a finished product that leaves so many fucking questions that are plain unanswerable in general.
