Okay, let's get the bad stuff out of the way first.

Your palettes really suck. Almost every single palette is totally worthless. Most of the colors are too similar to each other, creating a monotonous look. The goomba statues are a good example of this. Some actual shading would be nice. Other palettes, however, create too much of a contrast. The dino rhino statue's colors don't fit well together. Same with the spiketops in the third shot. I would stick with some of the default palettes for a while, until you get better at paletting.

Your custom graphics also sort of suck. The weird ice blocks look really bad tiled. Your pillars suck for reasons I cannot put my finger on. They don't look bad, but try using them more sparingly with other graphics.

And speaking of which, most of your screenshots lack variety in tiles. Try, you know, using more than one or two tiles repeatedly.

Your palettes really are blinding. I can't quite get over that. Sorry, just have to emphasize that point.

Gigantic levels are not good. If this is a REALLY LONG LEVEL, which it seems to be, try splitting it up into smaller parts. There's nothing more annoying (Yes, NOTHING) than dying right near the end of a 20 minute level and having to start all over, or even halfway through if you're using a midway point.

Okay, now the good stuff.

I like the idea of a "haunted elevator." That shot actually looks pretty neat. I may have to steal your elevator idea, actually.

Those bushes as icy spikes look pretty neat. This is, of course, offset by that one nasty ice tile repeated over and over.

Changing the fireballs, that's not something most people do. Though the graphic doesn't seem spectacular, any change is pretty neat.

It looks like your levels should be pretty interesting, even if they are ugly. Of course, it's hard to tell from still screenshots, but what you've shown looks decent.

In conclusion, your hack needs a lot of work, but you seem to like what you're doing and have enthusiasm for it, so I think you'll be able to pull it off. Fix the glaring problems, and you might just have an interesting hack on your hands.

I somehow doubt Nintendo is going to go bankrupt. And Mario Party can't go bankrupt, if that's what you meant. That would be insane.

Once Mario Party 7 comes out, that will make NINE games. That's including Mario Party-e, though, so it might only be eight. In any case, the last Mario Party I played was four, and it was worthless. Three is uninspired but playable, two is the best I've played. Never played one. I'll probably get it on zee Revolution, though.

I don't think Mario Party will end until Nintendo goes back to making playing cards and sells Mario to, uh. Microsoft. Yeah.

Uh. It would be exactly the same. Except the main character would be green and named Luigi. And the secondary character would be red and named Mario.

This is quite possibly the worst hypothetical ever, unless I'm missing something.

I sucked at video games when I was 6. I still suck at video games, but to a slightly lesser extent. I used to find beating SMB3 really hard. Now I just find it hard. I used to think Gargoyle's Quest was the hardest game ever. Now I've finally beaten it, and it has been replaced with...actually, I can't think of any, so it still stands as the hardest game ever. But I beat it, damnit.

So, uh, yeah. I suck.

Actually, I think it's called that because that Link is BEFORE the NES Link. Then again, since www.zeldahq.com went down, I haven't really kept up on my Zelda storylines, so I may be hideously wrong.

Also, level only hacks are actually played occasionally, as long as your screenshots are neat. Heh. Also helps to not have shitty levels, but whatever.

Well, there was the Goomba King Dude in Paper Mario, but I don't know if he counts since I think he only had 2 followers.

Also, I'm going to have to say my favorite boss was, uh. One of them. Actually, they all sucked, and the 3rd Bowser fight was so anticlimactic since they toned it down so much. If I had to choose from one of the new bosses, though, I'd say Goomboss. At least he had a different strategy than a normal enemy.

Well, if it helps, I DID stop buying the games after I bought 4. ohmygodwhataworthlessgame. I refuse to buy any more unless it reaches Mario Party 666. I'd buy that.

They should make a massively multiplayer Mario Party with the same sized board. Imagine: 2000 people on 100 spaces, all vying for the same star. 2000 person minigames. How awesome would that be? That's right, not awesome at all, but it would kill the series once and for all. So there.

Holy crap. What, did you just read the first three sentences and get bored? Here, lemme try this again.

"They shouldn't make a massively multiplayer Mario Party with the same sized board. Don't imagine: 2000 people on 100 spaces, all vying for the same star. Not 2000 person minigames. How un-awesome would that be? That's right, not un-awesome at all, but it wouldn't kill the series once and for all. So not there."

Well, not really, but damned if the game doesn't feel like that at times. I speak of of game 4 of "Vs. Collection" for the SNES. You've probably never heard of the game. That's because it's terrible, except for game 4, which is remarkably fun for a reason I just don't know.

The rules of this tournament are simple. The first person to get to 50 points wins. 30-second matches. Controls are so simple I'd be quite surprised if you didn't figure them out on your own, but, up makes you fall slower, B jumps, and Y does an almost completely useless charge.

And now for the signups.

1. The Cube
2. Kyouji Craw
3. elixirnova
4. JDavis
5. Sonicandtails
6. Kitten Yiffer
7. Luigi-San. (MC Pee Pants for those with layouts disabled)
8.

Oh, some obvious stuff. You need to be able to netplay in ZSNES. You need to have hands. Eyes help too. Uh. That's it.

EDIT: Tournament schedules will be drawn up when we've got enough contestants to justify one. In other words, don't worry about it now.

EDIT TOO: Changed the score limit to 50, in case you hadn't noticed, and changed the contestants to 8 since no one is signing up. So there.

I think one reason a lot of people think older systems have more great games is because of Emulation. It's easier to toss out the shitty games when it was FREE, plus you have easy access to a huge library of games. When you payed 50 (or 30, or 20) bucks for a game, you're a lot more disappointed if it's bad, or even mediocre.

So I voted both.

Yeah, I'm thinking that this was one of those Bargain-bin-from-the-start games, like the ones THQ has been publishing recently. At least, I hope some sucker didn't pay $50 for this. That'd be kinda sad.

Also, I put your name in as "Priere's Slave" since, er, I can't remember what your name was before that. So, you know, I can change it if you want, but you'll have to remind me what you used to be. Heh.

EDIT: Nevermind. thx kc.

EDIT2: Wow, and it's in your layout, too. Just loaded for me...

Am I the only one who thought Secret of Mana sucked? Sure, it's an alright game, but I wouldn't say it was top 100 material. I mean, the story was bad, the characters were...barely characters, the gameplay was really really repetitive, the music bordered on ear-bleeding, the ending sucked, and it had SANTA CLAUS in it. Really, it's almost a terrible game whose only saving grace is its multiplayer. Oh, and the graphics were alright.

Aaanyway...lists are never good. I could make a list everyone here agreed with, and an entirely different group would find a thousand flaws. "Official" ones try to appeal to everyone, and just manage to piss everyone off. What they should REALLY do is not number them. Just list the top 100 games in no specific order, that way you leave people some room for interpretation.

Actually, they used a pretty shitty emulator for the Zelda Collection since MM has slowdown in places where it used to run PERFECTLY FINE. I mean, seriously, Nintendo is the only company that can fuck up emulating its own system.

Soldat is a neat little side view action game. People compare it to Worms in real time, but it's more like...Quake in 2D. It's pretty awesome, and the newest version allows you to modify the weapons as you please. Does get old pretty quickly, though.

Gate 88 is an RTS game in space. It's sort of like Continuum (Or Subspace if you insist) with buildings and units and stuff. It's awesome except...my computer hates me and refuses to run it at a decent speed in a multiplayer game of any worthwhile size. Don't worry about that, though; if you have a computer, it's probably better than mine.

Wulfram 2 is a 3D team based tank shooting game. Sort of. It's very cooperation oriented, and if you're a good leader then you should get along quite well here. If not, then you'll have to hope someone on your team IS. Even if there isn't, though, it's pretty fun.

Gunbound is Worms with a Korean spin and a terrible community. If you know someone who plays it (or would be willing to play it with you), then it's fun. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

Hm. Here goes.

- I pace. Especially at night. If I'm standing up in the house after 8 PM, I'm probably pacing.

- I also talk to myself. No, scratch that, I whisper to myself. Often times in a bad British accent. And I'm usually arguing with myself. This doesn't look good when someone walks into the room to see the pacing, muttering guy with a fake British accent chastising himself for seemingly no reason.

- I almost always have to have something in my hand, or have to do something with my hands. While I was reading this topic, I was pushing the L and R buttons on my DS with my left hand and scrolling down with my right.

- About 1 out of every 5 nights while I'm lying in bed looking at the ceiling, I get the inexorable feeling that a car is going to fall out of the sky and crush me. Not a particularly worrisome thought, just a thought...

- I do fake Martial Arts poses at random when no one is looking.

- I type the period with my index finger.

- This isn't really a quirk, but...I've got sort of a...cot...bed that lies on the floor, and every night, it slides towards the door slightly. Somehow. I honestly don't get it. It bugs me.

This was actually an interesting topic to read, at least for me, which is rare for these "hay letz tel stuf abut ourselvz cuz were that intresting lolool" topics.

How come the "none" choice graph bar thing isn't showing up? Is that just me?

I can't see myself buying any right now. It may change in the future, but...consoles have begun to bore me. I'd rather just have a computer. If I was forced to choose, though, I'd pick the Revolution. At least it has that Nintendo touch, whether it be genius or insanity.

I'm going to have to go with Kyouji here in saying that most RPGs are generic and boring. And that includes every single SNES Final Fantasy. Most ACTION RPGs are boring, too, replacing mindless turn-based battling with mindless real-time battling. (I'm looking at you, Secret of Mana. And Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. And others.)

The only good Square RPGs I've played are Chrono Trigger (which, admittedly, kicks lots of ass), and Mario RPG. Oh, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was mediocre, which is above the standard for the other FF games I've played.

In other words, RPGs suck.

That said, if ANYONE could pull off a Zelda RPG, it would be Nintendo. Nintendo has made the only RPGs I've really liked. (Earthbound, Pokemon, Paper Mario(s), Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga)

That ALSO said, I'd still prefer something else. Zelda just doesn't seem like it would work as an RPG.

And just because I can, lemme throw this out: MMORPG.
