Oh and those 'NES adaptors' are generally entire NES systems, shrunk down, with a small SNES program to output the audio and video through the SNES and get controller input. Just like Super Game Boy. I do think SNES was originally planned to be NES-compatible, though, given how similar they are. (Check out the controller registers! Exactly the same, but with a second register for X/Y/L/R. )

Yeah, that could be doable and practical on hardware, but what the hardware would have to do would be outside the scope of a ROM file for the system, because it would have its own little processor that takes the load off the main SNES and SPC processors, and so is not practical to do on a normal PC. Of course, theoretically, you could test it out on a PC by writing a few coordinating emulators. The results of that would be interesting.

Already said in Book Five.

Remember when they're in town and her and Harry. yeah. Skank.

She came off as whiny not skanky in it.

Anyway, I'm at Chapter Seven now in Book Six! It's been okay so far, but it looks like it's already building some interesting things. 'Ll be fun to see how it turns out.

It seems that Book 6 will top my list of favorite Potter books.

Spoiler:
It was such an intriguing story from start to finish. Dumbledore telling Harry about Voldemort's past and mother, but setting off Harry to find clues of his own. Then finding out why Voldemort survived that night when he tried to kill Harry; he had stored at least one piece of his soul in a Horcrux (he probably made six). Then Dumbledore is deliberately murdered by Snape when Dumbledore is at his weakest, pleading for help from Snape. That was the saddest moment I had ever seen in a Harry Potter book, but I think he was sent off well. I was actually crying. Now the three have resolved to take out the Death Eaters, Snape, and Voldemort as it looks like the Wizarding society is on the verge of collapse.

lags,

when I try to download your calculator, it says that the file is not found. I hope you didn't take it off.

I remember the calculator in VB, and I sorta remember its code, let's see how similar lags's code is to the one found in the samples folder. I do remember that the samples folder one didn't have trig functions. Also, how come you can only choose whether you want to raise a number to the second, third, or one-third power?

BGNG,

That's pretty good. Can you enter parameters that would affect how the graph is drawn?

And this was well into the afternoon, so it wasn't like the store had just opened.

Nope, didn't bother waiting in line. I simply ordered the book in February (for like 16 bucks) and waited....

I'll say it right out, even if I am the only one who believes it, it was no mistake. Some here have said it was flexing US muscles. No flexing US muscles would have been the testing, this was a full out one hit KO aimed directly at Japan. It was a decision not easily made. But any one who has done research on it can tell you that it was the best US based tactical option currently available.

And that is my opinion...

yeah

The atomic bomb got dropped because the U.S. government wouldn't accept anything less than unconditional surrender from the Japanese. I find that disgusting, personally.

Posted on 07-21-05 07:27 AM, in SMB3 World Map Editor Features Implemented Already (and a List of Ones To Be Implemented) Link
I have in bold, features of my SMB3 World Map Editor implemented. The remainder I plan to:

Load/Save (As) ROM
Export 24-Bit Bitmap of World Map
Scroll World Map that is wider than 10 tiles
Edit Tiles With Toolbox
View Sprites
Edit List of Sprites
(I Plan to Have It Where You Can Edit the Sprites On the Map)
Edit Pointers On Map But Can Already Load and Save Pointers
Choose A Stage From the Stage Selection Window
Edit Starting Space Data On Map But Can Already Load and Save
Has ASM Hack That Allows You To Change X Position and Screen Number, and Have the Dying First Stage and Game Over Bring You Back To the Correct Position
Edit Airship Flee Data On Map But Can Load and Save
Edit Lock Data But Can Load and Save
Change the Upper Nybble of Boom Boom's Y Position To Choose the Lock To Break
Edit Pipe Data But Can Load and Save
Edit the Y Position of Pipe's Special Sprite to Choose Which Pipe Set in the Table To Use

So you see, I am making progress on my editor, but it has been going slower than originally anticipated. I fully expect to be finished by the start of the Fall semester though.

You don't need ASM for decompression. C++ is Turing-complete, so given enough time and memory it can solve any problem the universal Turing machine can. (Then again, INTERCAL is Turing-complete too....) Perhaps the guy was making a reference to a big decompression job and recommended ASM to make it quicker?

I wouldn't say that he said, "You're gay! I kill you now!" though that is probably the level he thinks at. It's more of that he abused his son in hopes of him avoiding becoming gay, which in and of itself (and if true), is pretty bad and misguided as well.

Posted on 07-21-05 11:08 AM, in How Do You Pronounce Hexadecimal Numbers? Also, Spelling Them ^_^ Link
When the letters A, B, C, D, E, and F get inserted into the number system, the question come to, How does one pronounce them? Obviously, A, B, C, D, E, and F by themselves are pronounced as they are in the alphabet, but what about 1A? You can't really pronounce ay-teen, because 18 is pronounced that way and that would cause confusion. Same goes for A0. My solution is to shorten the A, pronouncing ah-teen and ah-ty, but what do you guys do?

Some of my pronunciations, and proposed spellings (made intentionally complicated so they can seem more established) for writing out the words:

1A, ahteen, acteen (the c is silent, as in indict and Connecticut)
1B, beeteen, bieteen
1C, seeteen, ceiteen (i before the e except after c)
1D, deeteen, deiteen (so not to confuse with die)
1E, eeteen, yteen (what the hey)
1F, efteen, eghteen (the gh is pronounced like an f, as in cough and trough and tough)

A0, ahty, aghty (the c would make it look too much like act, so the silent gh, as in though, takes over)
B0, beety, biety
C0, seety, ceity
D0, deety, deity (did I miss something?)
E0, eety, yty
F0, efteen, avoteen (if the olo in colonel can be made to be pronounced er then anything be made to be pronounced like anything )

(I debated whether to put this in the Craziness Domain, then I decided we were talking about something edumacational like spelling and alternative number systems, so this went into the General Forum. Please move it, mod, if you disagree. )

I considered pronouncing them that way, but then I thought, why would I pronounce 1A so differently than, say, 19? If you were counting them aloud, then you would want to try to adhere to existing forms, or at least I would.
