Hey!

I was thinking... In Lunar Magic, Why isn't there some sort of annotation tool? It would be neat if you could set some tiles to display themselves as being transparent in LM, and adding little icons to Map 16 tiles? That would help when you are making conveyor tiles.

I doubt enough people would make use of that feature to make it worth it.

I always thought this would be nice; a way to have different graphics show up in LM than in the ROM. What I do is just make crappy simple graphics for each block so I can tell what they are, then change them into something decent before releasing it. Could be difficult for people who use a lot of Map16 tiles though, since you'd probably need a few duplicates of other blocks.

Hey!

JJ, you never know. if something like screen-scrolling pipes make it into mainstream hacks, not just DWTLC, then the feature might come in handy, or having the ability to make hidden custom blocks with block inserter, then annotating tham to look like they are actually there, but transparent. Also, adding arrows to the pipe corner tiles would let a person know at-a-glance what direction the pipt moves in. Hyperhacker, that is kinda what I was thinking.

Or you could just use custom tool tips. Not as visual, but it works.

Keep in mind that LM is no longer being actively developed, so changes are mostly restricted to bug fixes only.

Hmm, come to think of it, LM must keep a list of blocks to draw transparent, such as the ones that are revealed by a POW switch. It probably wouldn't be too hard to allow such a list to be read from a file instead, like with the custom tooltips...

I've got a suggestion. (You won't care about it, but I'll say it anyway.)
How about giving away the source to someone who's interested in developing it futher? I'm not saying that you should give the source to everyone. Just to one person.

The main problem with giving the source code to someone to work on would be finding the right person to give the source code to. The person would have to:

1) Know C (or C++, whatever Lunar Magic is written in)
2) Know 65816 (or whatever) assembler
3) Have enough time to devote to Lunar Magic

Can you think of anyone from this forum (hell, even in the whole ROM hacking community) who would meet that criteria? I sure as hell can't. (Cue random people jumping in with "I can do it!")

lmao, I meet number 3 in that criteria, lol, I got way to much time, but I dont know hell all C/C++ and the smallest amount of 65816, so I say he just keeps it, and then he can make bug fixes when he needs to.

You mean like me? I'm not exactly an expert at C or 65816, but I know enough to get by. Though this has been brought up often and he doesn't seem to be interested...
