I look at the BAD drugs like crack and see the real harm. I look at relatively harmless drugs like MDMA, psilocybin, Lysergic Acid, Marijuana, etc. and see no more harm than alcohol or tobacco. And the people I linked to didn't do "heavy" drugs, except for the leader of the "free" world and The Beatles. I should also note than 40 odd percent of American have tried marijuana, and over 70 % of Canadians have tried it. Last I checked there weren't over 100 million people living in hell in America, nor do 20 million Canadians. |

I know pleanty of people that smoke pot, or do some relativly halmless drugs, and they are working citizens, as the show Bullshit said, "Your average pot smoker is the average Joe" (or something like that) Yes, Democracy doesn't work I'll give that to you, but we are closer to a republic than a democracy. Our liberties are violated to a high extent and we can't do anything about it, because the poloticians are never going to take those laws back. Patriot Act comes to mind... |

He defined MDMA, psilocybin, LSD, marijuana, etc. as relatively harmless and said that, harm-wise, he doesn't consider them to be worse than alcohol and tobacco. He never said that alcohol and cigarettes were harmless. It would be similar to say that eating candy is relatively harmless and less dangerous for you than punching yourself in the head, but that neither states nor implies that punching yourself in the head is harmless. |

fine, you want to call LDS, Shrooms and ecstasy relatively harmless.... then, define relatively harmless.... because I don't know too many people that would share that viewpoint |

I'm pretty sure Rydain just did define relatively harmless. Relative to alcohol and cigarettes. As in less harmful than those two drugs.

MDMA, MDBM, MMA, MBA, MMD, etc. are all derivitives of a semi-synthetic chemical. When metabolized it creates the effects of euphoria. Sadly, people nowadays have been wrapped up in a blanket of lies and cannot differentiate these chemicals. The pure form of MDMA has theraputic and psychiatric use, in fact, the institutes dealing with such faculties around the world at one time were dealing with the drug and using it to bring forward repressed memories without the fear of an anxiety attack. Then Ronald Raygun came to power and decided what people could and couldn't use to research and help people.

Were there ANY negative effects at all? ANY? The government has a tendancy to jump all over things that are considered potentially dangerous...

On impure ecstasy...hell yes. People die regularly at Raves because they exhaust themselves due to mixing X with speed or other mephamphetimines (bad idea, just like using barbituates). Incidentally, the rate of deaths due to this drug were lower than people drinking themselves to death...Just a thought.

So doesn't that mean that ODing on any of the derivatives of the chemical could cause the same death effect as ecstasy does? That's probably why Reagan jumped it, because if people were administered too much of a drug that would normally be safe, or if their systems couldn't handle it and they died, then what?

And that's where the basis for all the "ecstacy is bad" news reports comes from. Then again, it's not like they're properly educated that mixing all that stuff's bad; plus mixing that stuff with booze is just asking for bad things to happen. If people ARE going to use the drug, then they need to know exactly how to use it; I'm not saying it's good or bad, but lots of people don't pay attention to those factors. |

If it doesn't hurt you why do you care? Really, does our government think it has to be our big brother... (wow I think I am just getting that) and make sure we don't do anything that could harm ourselves. If someone wants to drink rat poisoning but not to kill themselves, I don't care. I'd tell em it is stupid but nothing else. (Unless it was a friend then I'd have to stop them) |

Geeogree, one of the major fallacies of modern life is that because you hold a certain viewpoint, it is unwaveringly and intrinsically truth. This is simply not true, especially when it comes to subjective decisions like personal morals. We can go out on a limb and say that a thing is necessarily immoral when it violates another person's rights, but in deciding what is correct for one's own, personal constitution, everything has to be left up to the one assessing their morals. While you, personally, may look at the physical harms of certain drugs, and decide that it is a fundamental wrong to indulge in them, another person may take a look at the physical harms of certain drugs, and decide that the effects may go to help them acheive material happiness. You may not agree with them. You may think that they're incredibly dense for thinking that it could possibly be a right thing to do. But because they are not harming you, personally, in the best of all possible worlds, you have no choice but to accept their decision. In the entire situation, the only true evil comes when you attempt to curb their own Life, Liberty, or Pursuit of Happiness through the regulation of their behavior. You have to take a step back and look at it objectively, rather than adhering to this statement ( because I don't know too many people that would share that viewpoint ). The Good is subjective, and what may be seen as something destructive (i.e., cutting oneself) could in fact be positive for the person in question (i.e., allowing them a way to vent without murdering the guy that keeps on mugging him), while the person working the deadbeat job or lying in the alleyway could be having a great time in the artificial reality he created so as to escape the harshness of everyday life. I'm not going to attempt to tell somebody what is best for them. All of this, of course, leaves out the economic bonuses of cancelling the war on drugs. Income rather than expenditures, freed up justice system, etc. By this time, I'm sure that everybody has some idea of my leanings on the issue, so I'll go ahead and confirm it. I indulge in drugs quite often, my favorite being the psychedelics, though I do enjoy some codeine or vodka every now and again. (I despise marijuana). The funny thing is, some of the most potent psychedelic drugs aren't illegal in the sense that possession would land you prison time - they can be found right over the counter at any local pharmacy. XD |

The only drugs (excluding things like caffiene and alcohol) that I consider ok is weed and shrooms, which I've both tried, moreso with weed. Shrooms are amazing, but the next day you feel gross and you don't want to do them again for a a long time. So, its hard to get hooked, so its hard to do it enough to effect your brain, unless its long-term use. Also, weed is alright, since it isn't all that harmful, and most people don't get hooked. Its all natural, too. Also all those herbal shamanistic drugs should stay legal too, because I think they're mainly for religious use, so whos gonna be bothered abusing those? Edit: Generation Terrorist, I read in your newbie intro you do dxm. It's over the counter in Canada (and I think most places) but I'm not getting messed up with that shit, A guy at my high school had a nice time in ER with that.
