SMB2J was in SMDX (SMBDX?) for GBC.

Anyway, Advance games are on the way out, what with the DS coming out later this year. If anything they'll remake Super Mario 64 on the DS.

Super Mario Advance 5...

What haven't they done yet? They've done all the Super Mario Brothers series and both Super Mario Worlds...

Nothing, that's what. which is why I think they'll make a Super Mario 64 DX. Or maybe Super Mario Advance 5: Super Smash Brothers. Heheheh.

Speaking of which, I'd like to see a GBA version SSB. That would be quite interesting, IMO.
Craw: Stop being so serious. He's saying, IF there is going to be a SMA5, what would be a good candidate? Just play along. Playcate, or something.

DS is above 64 bits. We know it's graphical capabilities are above the N64s. That's about it, though.

As for SSB, it wouldn't need to use everything from the N64 version, and it could use sprites instead of models. Wouldn't exactly hurt gameplay.

So it'd be like the old Capcom fighters? To be really honest, I think the game would lose a lot of its charm if they switched it to sprites from models. The characters wouldn't be able to have as many animations, when the camera zoomed out or in the sprites would look disastrous, and I just think there'd definitely be an overall loss in the craziness of the game. Models are more fluid and more versatile than sprites, and a game like Smash Brother calls for some extreme versatility.

Well who says it has to zoom in too much? You can still see them just fine from a close distance without it being TOO close. And really, models take up a lot more space than a spritesheet, you could mimic the fluidity fairly easy if you took enough time making the sprites.

He's talking about having the sprites zoomed out too much. Not in And actually, if done right, the sprites wouldn't look disasterous. I've played the GBA game, DBZ: Supersonic Warriors, and their zooming engine still makes the sprites look decent.. One shouldn't exactly expect to see every little detail from a model in such a zoomed out distance. And I've also played Four Swords Adventure, and having the screen zoomed away from all the Links still look good. (A lot better than the DBZ game)

Personally, I'd love to see a sprite based Smash Bros. game. Fluidity shouldn't be a problem if Hal's making it. I mean, them sprite based fighters look beautiful, and everything seems to move fluidily.

*wishes for a sprite based Smash Bros. game*

Judging by your name I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that HAL did the Kirby games.

It'd be nice if Nintendo make a new mario game in the old style, insted of only making those remakes. They should try it.

Well, Nintendo does add extra SFX to the games (whopee!). I think that it's SMRPG's turn to be reborn.

The Nintendo 64 was never 64 bits. It had 32 bit video and 32 bit sound. Nintendo dubbed it the Nintendo 64 because it just seemed like a good white lie.

Anyways, i also think SMA5 should be a remake of SMRPG...

The DS is making an all new original for mario brothers.... Its at gamespot.

AFAIK, it's 64 because (with the expansion) it has 8MB = 64Mb of RAM.

Go play Mario Kart 64. See the awesome 3D models? All 2D sprites. Enough said.

I say Mario RPG, but I wouldn't expect it. Maybe Super Mario Land. (As for a whole new game, that'd be nice, but the SMA series should stick to ports.)
