The reason I ask is because I want to see what types of levels everyone likes. This will help me decide what kind of levels I should make next.

Also, if you vote other, please post what level it is that you like the most.

Thank you

Um, why is there not a choice for, say, normal levels, or sky levels, or or or or or.

Other will beat anything else in this poll, if anyone votes at all, and you'll have to way to tell which from Other they wanted. Make a few more categories, then I'll vote. Until then, let's all post suggestions as to categories!

Plains
Sky
Pipemaze
Mecha
etcetera...

Unless you want people to pick the gimmick to levels you're making, but in that case, why the underground category?

Ever do I apologise for being an asshole.

When I do this poll, I mean, like, unique, or other levels. Not levels like Donut Plains 1, that are just there.

I'll add a few more categories, but I basically want, unique levels. Thats the best way I can describe it.

EDIT: There - added about 5 more choices - but not gonna add plains - they're just too . .original

None of those work for me. My favorite ones are the levels that a lot of stuff in them. When one level is only pipes, then one level is only platforms, its just boring. Mix it up, put some stuff together.

You know what would be interesting?

A side-scroller that you have to use P-switches stragetically or you risk dying.

For example, there's a line of coins. Normally people would dash ahead and pick them all up, but then realize that the line of coins is actually going over a bottomless pit, and plummet to their doom. They then bring a P-Switch this time and use it, and the line of coins become blocks to help them cross the pit.

Fancy coin patterns could actually be platforms to get over walls or pits.

Using a P-Switch too soon would result the blocks reverting back to coins or vice-versa, resulting in death. Same with if you use it too late.

It's just some ideas, really. =P

I'm guessing metallic things - metal platforms, metal blocks, metal enemies - things like that. It could actually look furturistic if you wanted.

I've noticed that in many mechanical factory levels, they had the buzzsaws (the huge spinny things and things that follow platform paths), bullet bills and most types of Chucks.

Oooh, a good example of a mechanic level would be some of the levels in Ninji's Saga!

These are all great ideas - I will definitely use your guys input for my next few levels. Mechanical factory could = conveyor belts, moving platforms, even some cranes in the background.

I forgot about ice level those are always fun.

I don't think I've ever seen the mechanical factory tileset done, so I voted for it. I personally don't like most of these, because they've all been done before. The levels that shoot for something totally different than any one I've seen before would be my favorite. But voting "other" sucks because you never know what kind of "other" you mean until you read the whole thread, and if you never do, you'll never have any idea of what the person really meant.

Edit: Oh, and all of you should look for the James Pond III rom. It's got totally awesome and new levels; it'd be a great inspiration for any level designer. And it's really fun.

Sky scrollers are the best. When that cool music is playing, it's makes you want to do more.... Sky levels are harder than castles. Seriously.

Something totally different . . .hmm . . so Glyph, do you mean something so weird that no one would have ever even dreamt of it?

If that's the case, I have a few. . . crazy ideas . .

Well, as long as it's not ugly. But yeah, the more interesting the idea, the better the level. For the love of ROM, you just have to make interesting levels with interesting themes. Without people finding different ways to make more interesting levels, then ASM is the only way anyone can make interesting hacks.

Can't believe I'm the only doomship fan..

I can't believe I've never seen a hack where you do a doomship level with one of the always-flying blue Yoshis. =\

I plan on making a doomship level soon - but no blue flying yoshi, sorry

Also, I can't believe no one liked the ghost house maze. We all LUV ghost houses, don't we?

It also appears that sky levels are right up there too. If you look in my screens for my hack a few topics down, at the very bottom I added some sky level screenies for you all to look at.
