Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced. If you're lucky there may be a color correction tab in there. If not... |

Have you tried to start Diablo II and then shut it off? I know that on some games everything get's brighter when I use alt+tab, but only as long as the program is running. Start Diablo II and check the brightness settings ingame, called gamma or something. Do you know which video card you have? |

The entire system crashed? I would blame the video card.

My guess is your computer crashed, and you can kiss it goodbye. Either that, your video card is a mess. One way or another, a game like D2 is bound to cause issues. That's why I stopped using it.

One way or another, a game like D2 is bound to cause issues. That doesn't make any sense at all. And I would really doubt that his computer "crashed" if everything's simply brighter than normal. I would suspect something with the video card but I don't think that it's a permanent problem. Maybe you could re-install your video card or display drivers. |

I would boot into a Linux live disk and see if the problem is software or hardware related. |
