the truth is simple.

Dabby Mago is Termingamer himself, he made up a bully that goes after himself, so that he can:
a) get attention from the drama it causes
b) get pity because he "gets harassed" by himself

I wouldn't be surprised if the time his account was "taken over" was him too

Well, if that's true, that's pretty silly. It's not like "harassment"/somebody posting mean words gets you a lot of sympathy this far away from Tumblr.

Either way, I'd also prefer if you didn't contribute to perpetuating this topic.

These are just UTF-8 emoticon characters. If they don't work on someone's board, that board probably doesn't support UTF-8 in post text, which would appear fairly odd for an internet message board...

Ancient (2008 or so) falling-out between him and this forum's administration (which is to say, mostly me) over how aggressively the community should be moderated. He and his closer friends wound up splitting off to their own forum and relentlessly pounding this one with recruitment propaganda and exploiting holes in the forum software Xkeeper was naturally familiar with as one of the developers, so the ban was sort of an inevitability.

Every now and then, when he gets bored or needs an outlet, he still registers new accounts and starts trolling around until he's being shown the door, so it's not like you can't interact with him around here if you do really want to

Also did anyone get a message about this site being hacked via PM? I did.

Yeah, I think that Turkish kid was a bit fuzzy on what "hack" means. If they turn up again, I encourage asking them if the dog in the picture they post stands for Erdogan. If we're lucky, their national pride will be gravely injured and they will do something more amusing.

Ugh, I hate emojis, and it was a waste of time for the maker to make every single one of them in my opinion. I prefer the emoticons on acmlmboards.

Well, there is a good argument for putting the codepoints into the Unicode character set - before that, the various phone chat systems largely used their own completely proprietary encodings to represent emoticons, so in any sort of cross-OS messaging scenario (like SMS from an Android phone to an iPhone), you'd be pretty likely to receive either gibberish or nothing at all whenever the sender uses them. Now, they all represent the "proper" pictorial emoticons of their platform with the corresponding unicode character.

Of course, if you put something into the Unicode standard, you have to provide a reference glyph for what it is supposed to be, which is where the pictures we see in the opening post come from. I don't think anyone intended for them to be used directly except as a fallback.

Now, the "morally right" thing for us to do, with respect to the standard, would be to make the board search-and-replace the UTF-8 emoticon codepoints much like it currently searches-and-replaces the ASCII sequences for our emoticons, so for instance any 😉 would be automatically converted into

. I'm not sure it's worth it, though. Thoughts?

No, that doesn't strike me as at all likely; all things considered, he is still much more constructive in his participation than I would expect Xk to ever possibly be. Besides, why would Xk have it out for you of all people? As far as I understand, you weren't even around during the split yet.

By "this site being affiliated with illegal repro cart community", are you actually referring to this forum? In what way is it affiliated with that community? Is there even a community for it? I'm pretty much the person in charge here, and I'm not aware of such a community existing, which does not seem very compatible with my understanding of what being affiliated means. I don't even recall seeing any posts about repro carts around here. What exactly is your problem?

I'd wager a good sum that he isn't reproing it, and probably doesn't even own the equipment to flash physical carts. (How many people even do, and why would one bother with the pain of running something on 90s hardware that probably requires one to have a 90s TV set to decode analog video?)

Rather, most likely, people reading your tirade in the initial post - which is directed against an enemy who is almost certainly very nearly fictitious ("the repro cart community") and moreover almost directly accuses them of being in league with said enemy ("this site being affiliated(...)") - will be more than a little tempted to rustle your jimmies by claiming affiliation with said enemy and declaring that they will go and do the exact thing you appear to be comically overreacting to. This is no different to other popular entertainments along the lines of reacting to the preachings of some Westboro Baptist type by announcing that you'll go and sacrifice some extra fetuses to Satan above your monthly quota just for them.

I don't know what happened to you on Youtube or wherever people have previously claimed to make repro carts with your hacks, but this site probably has nothing to do with it and I'd rather you consider the possibility that these uncalled for outbursts will actually make people who would have never even thought of using repro carts do so just out of spite.

I don't think that bringing this sort of RPing into the board is going to be good for causing anything other than drama and flamewars, so I'm taking the freedom to ban the secondary account. (I don't think it's a good idea to just bluntly tell people who aren't into this sort of thing to put up with it or get out, either.)

There often isn't much of a point in bothering to ban those accounts; they are typically people sitting in spammer farms somewhere in SE Asia and following a procedure of jump to forum -> register -> post -> disappear forever all day.
