I am quite skeptical about vitamins beyond "keeping oneself supplied to meet the requirements of one's metabolism" possibly having any kind of life-extending effect. It's a thesis that has notoriously little to go for it apart from a few famous people from fields with little to do with medicine (I'm thinking of this gentleman) advocating it, and perhaps more notably, at least for more basic organisms (but including even mice), calorie restriction and general undersupplying of their metabolic processes has actually a significantly better body of evidence for it (cf. heaps of papers a quick Google search would produce). This might not be the case for longevity, but as far as general health goes, it seems plausible to assume (as with many other things that evolution had millions of years to optimize over) that we have landed in a local minimum and small, uninformed changes to lifestyle won't be able to yield significant improvement.

Your claims are pretty outrageous. Can you provide a citation for any of them?

I think he meant to call the concept of accusing somebody of trolling a meme, not the act of trolling.

On a more serious note, this thread just seems to be a slightly rehashed collation of Aaendi's past attempts to make threads trying to disparage complaints that have been made against him in general/abstract terms (see here for the "citation" thing). As there was pretty unequivocal agreement about this being a childish and blatantly obvious thing to do, I don't think the forum will miss out on much if I just lock and dispose of this thread on the spot.

We have a Gaming section which ought to be used for this kind of material, and besides, just dropping a link to some deviantart page doesn't really meet the expectations for a new thread. Please stop making bad ones.

Everyone has a few favourite songs here and there, but there are those games where just close to every song on the OST is awesome, or it feels like the given game could not have been orchestrated better. Let's discuss those.

For starters, I'd like to pitch

Secret of Mana - the eccentric, rhythm-focused style of the music just screams JRPG, producing an endless stream of memorable melodies.

Castlevania - all soundtracks in the series I am familiar with are glorious, though not always entirely appropriate for the setting.

Xenogears - The metallic timbres invoke a coherent image of technology and strife. I like this more than Mitsuda's other soundtracks, although they are also certainly not bad at all.

What do you think about the above? Which ones do you consider good? What constitutes a good soundtrack for you? Discuss.

Sigh.

Quoting the FAQ,

DON'T:
  • Act like the board is a chat room (post messages like 'HEY ACMLM', 'I AGREE', 'What's up?', or any messages directed to individuals). This is what the private message function is for.

Whose interest would this even be in? The game publishers would risk being deprived of all possibilities of viral marketing.

I've only played VVVVVV (and heard about Crayon Physics)... do the others stand on their own or is it actually the only good one in the package?

There is nothing that says there must be one unique pointer to it. It's entirely plausible that several pieces of code access that data, each of them having their own hardcoded pointers to where the blocks begin.

Anyway, the generally correct way would be to find out what the starting location of the data you found in the actual ROM address space is and then scan the code for references to that address.

Due to the recent unanticipated downtime (DNS problems), the deadline shall be extended by another 48 hours.

Ah, yeah, I would totally go along with Cave Story as well. The only slightly questionable/unfitting moment in the soundtrack I can think of is the reusage of the title theme for the plantation. On the other end, I would consider the sequence leading up to the first battle with the Core to be the musically most powerful moment of the game (Geothermal is used in a positively brilliant manner).

Most Likely to Succeed
Succeed at what, though?

Running
Football
Arson
Weddings
& Art!

Or just winning that category, perhaps.

Thanks to everyone who voted, the implied flattery, where present, in votes for me, and of course to Kawa for organising it

What could I plausibly be somewhere for?

For science!

Cute picture.

Also, that vent looks like it would be an ideal place to hide a geocache in. May this serve as an inspiration for future spells of boredom?
