Guy A was sitting around and ordering the killing of thousands of people of associated with Guy B, so Guy B ordered the killing of thousands of people associated with Guy A and then managed to succeed at dispatching a kill team to get Guy A disposed of as well.

Yes, quite likely. Traditionally, a core function of deities always has been having something you can sacrifice cattle to for plentiful blessing in smiting your enemies.

The ensuing "whoever wins must have the more powerful god"-connoted spectacle has a distinctively mediaeval quality to it.

First of all, the values in effect is justice, that if you use terrorism against the US, you will suffer the penalty for your actions. It is a glorious victory in the view that the 9/11 planner was killed which is one step forward in the war against terrorism.

I always thought one of the chief achievements of western civilization was that guilt was determined by a fair and unbiased court of law which would give every party the chance to present their viewpoint and be considered innocent until proven guilty rather than by the opinion of the head honcho and some large segment of the mob.

If you become a terrorist to defeat the terrorists, the only net winner is the abstract concept of terrorism itself.

Well the fact of the matter is that even before 9/11 he had already done things against the law (US 1998 Embassy Bombings). He had a warrant of arrest from more than just the US and was in hiding, so you can't exactly bring him to court. By not complying with US requests for trial for the actions he is giving US the warrant to do what they must to get him.

See the example below.

He was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, on charges of Murder of U.S. Nationals Outside the United States, Conspiracy to Murder U.S. Nationals Outside the United States, and Attacks on a Federal Facility Resulting in Death (source) so there was a fair and unbiased court that made the decision that he was guilty of many crimes and should serve the penalty for said crimes, death.

An indictment is not a conviction. For instance, imagine Spain indicted US administration members for the widespread evidence of them ordering torture and murder of civilians. Surely, the USA would make no effort to extradite them to Spain so they can stand trial. Would you then consider it a great triumph for freedom if a troop of Spanish commandos snuck into the US with orders to assassinate Dick Cheney and succeeded?

If not, why not?

Punishing someone through what is decided by the law is not terrorist act. It was done through a desire to do justice, achieving political aims would only be a byproduct.

Again, an indictment is not a conviction.

But the Officer's Club is for things like complaining about life woes/personal issues, not news items.

Moved to General Chat where it actually belongs.

Also, it was completely predictable. Even for PCs, they might be on their way towards a majority share if you factor out things like corporate computer pools. The power of peer pressure is not to be underestimated.

Yes, I suppose I do.

I used to play other instruments, but nowadays, it's only the piano for me. I have access to some pretty decent ones in my college. Most of what I play are arrangements of video game music.

As a matter of policy, we don't redact posts in the archives. Profile edits have been performed before, but in more of an ad-hoc manner...

Even if we deleted it, archive.org still would have it, every single of those hundreds of copies of archive2 that are floating around and not tracked by anybody would still have it, etc.; I really think people should realise that it is simply impossible to make the internet forget.

Apple is already doing things that are much worse than that, and the hipsters and cultists are gobbling it up. It's relatively likely Android will eventually roll down the same path, and nothing will change in this case either as most users have MasterPhW's "They'll only make use of this when the user is really evil, promise!" attitude towards this kind of thing. (Not that this even explains the granting all rights to user-generated content part.)

Not that I even play games that much anymore, but I'll just continue pirating. No problems at all.

This belongs into H/S/B, and the usual course of action is to go into IRC (and contact an administrator) or to email an administrator, together with some proof of identity (which most typically would be simply using the email address set in your profile to contact the administrator to begin with - if you have no email address set, you wouldn't be able to recover your password in a more traditional system either way), asking for your password to be reset.
