Hello there. Care to try and beat a mechanical monster?

From time to time, you can see more complete descriptions on my Wiki profile.

    Bosses:

  1. Symphony

    • First creation made. Scarce use of events, and default durability. Shouldn't be too difficult for any who's played Fraxy before.

    • Sample image: 479 x 639 pixels; PNG format.

  2. Spiral Ocean (incomplete)

    • Shaped like a snail's shell. Invincible walls, save for doors, constant-fire vulcans and small spaces can cause death fairly soon, especially upon entering the parent core's miniscule chamber. If you get too far away, it will try to ram you.

    • Last modification: 12/10/2009.

  3. Xie Xie (incomlete)

    • Protected by invincible honeycomb walls and four destroyable doorways. Entering the room of Nana Bee (parent core) causes a core to appear around its external barrier. Destroying one causes another to appear, until all four are destroyed. The rest, I'll leave for you to discover.

    • “Xie Xie” is pinyin for “thank you.”

  4. NAME (incomplete)

    • Still working on an ideal shape for this. Pretty sure Search Lights will play a big part. NAME might be its final – uh, name.

  5. Silucnumoh (incomplete)

    • First attempt at creating a multiple form boss. It will start as a face that fires various weapons from its mouth. In order to reach the parent core (codenamed “Empty Brain”), various parts of the head must be destroyed in a specific order. Not sure if it'll have a lot of patterns, or just a rain of bullets from everywhere.

    • “Homunculis” reversed.

    • Last modification: 12/10/2009.

    Drones:

  1. Orange Light Show

    • Exactly what it says on the tin. (If it's not orange, check your color settings in configuration or ignore it.)

    • Sample image: 478 x 638 pixels; PNG format.

  2. Lantern Dragger

    • Sample image: not yet.

    • Finished: 2/11/2009.

Symphony was... interesting. The second form surprised me. It was weird for a first creation. The other bosses sound great.

Just so I know, did you mean weird as in bad, or weird as in something else? I certainly don't expect it to contend with anything from people like Eboshidori or A70M1C, but “weird” has a broad meaning for me.

And yes, I do hang on every last little word. However did you guess?

Weird as in, it was different from the rest. But in a good way.

If all goes well in these next few tests, Silucnumoh's going to have four detached cores circling it. I'm have some trouble getting the movement to be perfect, but I'm pretty sure I can fix that with careful timing events for the Boosters and Move Joint.

Oh, then, thank you!

Added Orange Light Show. It was a fun distraction from the huge beasts that all the others becoming.

Well, the bullets are only orange if the player didn't change from the default bullet colors...

Or is there a way to change it in events now and I've just forgotten?

Not yet, but I'm hopeful. (Sprite colors generated through hex colors inputted by the user rather than images — no clue if it'd actually work very well outside of Web coding, but hey.) If and when that's implemented, I'll go back and define exactly what it needs to be.

What did you think of it?

Started work on a project for the Tail Connect Type: Tailing Shaman. CLEVER AMIRITE. (Hint: no.) Will resemble a long wall hanging that wiggles from side to side while perpetually moving upward and shooting various weapons. Probably going to have to modify the current design a lot so that it works the way I want it to, but that's nothing new: Spiral Ocean's exactly the same, since I didn't know everything about the parent to child relationship back then.

So yeah. Not adding it to the index yet, since it's nowhere near even 50% finished.

Blargh Tailing Shaman asdf. I can't detach that core, because then it doesn't move upward with the main body, but then the boosters that make it move up and down repeatedly make the main core sway all crazy-like, and THEN IT IS DOING WRONG NOT CORRECT ABORT MISSION BZZZZZZT.

This is going to take a lot of careful booster balancing. It's worth, it, though, 'cause I think it looks pretty darn awesome. Previews will be posted soon. Maybe. I dunno.

Edit: All right, forget the boosters. I'm going with move joints and effectors. The simplist solution is the best one, and right now, anything looks simpler than the alternative.

Spiral Ocean's mostly an editing job at this point. Seeing as I didn't understand the entire parent-to-child relationship during its initial build, some of the parts you have to destroy also kill a large portion of the walls. I could insert the ending to the first paragraph, but I largely hate repetition. Suffice to say, this is what I'm doing with it now:

if (durability < 500)
{
durability = 5000;
visibility = hidden;
stop movement;
}

Xie Xie's kind of in the same boat right now, though it's better, at least. I need to increase some of the weapons' potency, as well as fix the timing for the four cores so that you have time to get in front of it before it blocks your path. Plus, I've got no idea whether or not the barriers, what with their new reflective properties, nterfere with any attack patterns.

Silucnumoh — not much to report on that. I haven't really worked on it, unfortunately.

NAME is NAME is NAME is NAME. Same as Silucnumoh.

I might start on a new drone, just as a distraction.

Instead of changing the visibility of the part and stopping it, just have it change the Max Durability to a rather small number (ie: 1), then the parts will still blow up.

The thing is, I don't want them to blow up, because then most, if not all, of the wall that needs to remain alive is taken with it.

Use negative durability to make them invulnerable, then.

That is, if I got what you want to do right xD

There are doors that need to be destroyed, or at least made so you can pass through them. However, destroying them also tends to take all the walls down too, which is bad. Negative health doesn't seem to change that.

Your suggestion gave me an idea, though.

Oh, were the destroyable parts also parent parts? That would do it, yeah.

Yeah. Now I'm thinking of having them be invulnerable, but disappear after being hit enough.

Have some Lantern Dragger goodness.

I've not done much to any of the bosses. Sorry, Final Fantasy IV has distracted me from, like, everything.
