Title says it all. Let the owner of the thread have the ability to change the title and Thread Icon! All Support?

No. We discussed this before, and I don't think it was considered that good an idea back then.

I don't see a problem with that. Editing your own thread title, should be Okay. I used to be on a Forum, and We were able to change our thread title and icons. And I can't find the place where you guys discussed this.

Why you gotta be like this, KP?

I'm pretty sure we discussed this and came to no real consensus. Because I have always thought this was a good idea, and don't remember losing an argument about it.

If you really, REALLY need your thread title changed you can just PM a staff member to do it.

Why should you have to do that? The times when this are going to be used innocuously far outweigh the times it is going to be used mischievously or maliciously. And when that happens, the person in question can just be banned or something. There's no reason not to implement this.

I'd really hate to admit it, but that's actually a pretty good point there, Stark.

This is one of the few times that I agree with Stark. This has been discussed before, but there was no consensus that users may not edit their own thread's titles. The main reason for not having this feature is laziness on the part of those with server access. I even posted secure, polished, and debugged PHP code for such a feature, but it was rejected for rather weak reasons.

Well said. I just can't see why only moderators and admanimators are allowed change other people's thread titles.

Fuck everyone in this thread who just said "No" with no reasoning. You people are fucking blind and narrow minded.

This is an incredibly useful feature. Surely if someone can't be allowed to modify the title of their own thread, they shouldn't even be allowed to post said thread in the first place, right? Otherwise it could be abused, and like, we'd need moderators of some kind to make sure people didn't post bad threads all the time. And as we all know, that's an incredibly inconceivable idea. :o

I really question why the ability to edit one's own thread titles was not standard from day 1.

Heck, just the pain it would save on the rom hacking boards when people update their hacks/apps and have to go fishing for a mod but instead go "screw it".

Good point. The board is allegedly supposed to revolve around ROM Hacking, how come you haven't made it easy for users of the ROM Hacking forums to manage their projects? Pretty shoddy work there guys. :\

Agreed completely with Stark and such. I don't really see a reason why a thread starter wouldn't be able to edit their thread title, tags and such. Heck, adding the ability to edit tags even just for mods and above in the forums where tags are used would be helpful.

There isn't a way this could really go bad. I mean, how bad can changing the title of your own thread actually get?

Everybody is agreeing now. Why it hasn't happened was because of these selfish posts. Also the user should have the ability to delete their own posts instead of calling upon the name of a moderator or Administrator, waiting for hours or days.

Funny how we wind up with Web 2.0 functionality instead of editthread.php.
I lol'd.

So, I haven't seen any reasoning on why this shouldn't be done in this thread, but I see lots of reasons it should be done. Can we be decided then, and get something done?

Deletion of posts isn't even allowed to the staff, we can only hide them. So no, users are never going to be able to delete their own posts.
