It looks like the filenames need to be changed (rs_gl.ogg? what song is that?) to be just a bit more descriptive.

The file names hardly matter at all. You see, this is 2008, and we have these wonderful things called ID3 tags.

Hmm. Ogg is as good as mp3 but has smaller filesize, right?

Hm. I might give the radio a try. And upload stuff too, perhaps. But most of myn music is of mp3 format.

This requires the song to be playing already. I'm talking about that radio list link he posted. The admins would have to memorize the filenames of all the songs to know which song is which. It'd make changing the queue pretty hard.

Yeah, blackhole89, check out this package, you could use it to make that list a whole lot nicer.

Unfortunately, the "idle loop" (i.e. what plays when nobody is actively feeding from elsewhere, which me or other people could do when there's a higher number of people listening) only takes OGGs. There are no particularly powerful pure command line Linux streamfeed clients to begin with.

Someone should get in contact with Dwedit to see if we could use a converted version of this.

Get a proper music player.

As for aurora.nsf, I can add it later.

So, the radio so hardly gets listened to anymore. People always complain that they've heard everything on the radio already, and that it's stagnant. Well, what kinds of songs do YOU want to hear? If you give me suggestions and I like them, I'm likely to add them to the radio. I have pretty diverse tastes, mind you, so there's a good chance of it getting accepted if it's of any real quality and is not too repetitive or similar to other tracks on the radio.

Obviously game music. Other than that, I like metal, techno/trance but I listen to other genres ocassionally aswell.

Ok, so everyone is talking about adding music to the radio... but what about removing some? I'd like to make a request to remove all of the DJ Velocity stuff. (and possibly a couple that are low-rated) That is the only reason I don't listen to it right now. Other than that, I'd have it up all day long.

Also, is it possible to add a mute/volume setting on the radio window on the front page? Possibly a timer as well? It's not really a necessity, but I have to shut it off every time I get a phone call since I use Skype.

Well originally I was told just to delete the rows; now I guess I shouldn't since it screws up the rating system.

blackhole, I still have the old exclude-from-playlist code that shouldn't mess up the ratings and shuffler if you're interested in it >>

On a little side note, I just removed an annoying additional reencoding step from the serverside pipeline, giving the radio a long-needed massive quality boost.

You may now enjoy board2 radio in previously unknown fidelity :3
