I was looking at one of the threads here and wondered how plausible it would be to change how Mario's control physics worked. In SMB1, the controls were a little clumsy, but everyone knows it's a classic, and you can't live without it. There are many people who create SMB1 hacks that would like additional elements past what is available in the NES ROM.

Really, this could open up all kinds of possibilities for hacks. You could use SMB3's engine as a base for your hack, and create around that as you see fit. The possibilities are endless.

Any comments?

That opinion doesn't get us anywhere, so just be quiet. T_T

I'd really like to see someone take a shot at placing NES physics into SMW. It shouldn't be all that difficult, because of SMAS. It would be a hell of a lot harder if it would be copying physics from the NES version. At the moment, I don't believe enough Mario Physics ROM addresses are known to be able to change the physics extensively enough to be like SMB1 or SMB3.

The SMB1 physics have been rather difficult to recreate, historically. Even SMAS wasn't pixel-accurate when it came to Mario's movement. And the countless fanmade clones or remakes haven't gotten that 100% either.

I don't think it is necessary to edit SMW's physics. And that may take a LONG time. If you have time, what about creating a Layer 2 Vertical movement or pause menu?

I thought SMAS did use SMB physics ._. was it not just the NES game with a little bit of new code here and there? If you look at that code then you can be okay, I think..
