Welcome to Acmlm's! Good to see a fellow Rom hacker, I found the site when I was relativley new to hacking, I only had about six months under my belt. Anyways, my best advice as of now would be, don't click the "delete the board" link if you want to become a long term member, and be sure to check out other forums besides the hacking ones... You learn alot that way...

Acctually the best way to go is to recolor a majority of the tiles with YY-CHR or whatever tile editor you prefer, it requires more work but it has a better payoff when you don't end up with an awkward pallette...

My first suggestion is that you add a bit more texture... Granted this is a prototype, but... Yeah, anyway you should try and animate the waterfall, and for the record, blue/lightblue waterfalls generally look the best.
