I'm not exactly a newbie, as I was here back in the good old days when Acmlm actually posted and Somer Z was still around and Ziff was Ziff, but I've come back.

Hello again!

I love the quote Dracoon used. It frustrates me greatly that this was allowed, but it's right on time if you follow trends with various "Sedition" acts through the history of the country.

I hate how the whole country is willing to give up privacy and to limit rights for a false security. New methods of communication will be developed or new technology to circumvent what's being monitored will be invented, any fool could predict that. Besides, there can't be a "war" on terrorism, just as there can't be a "war" on drugs. It's going to keep happening and the way to stop it is not by resticting rights and monitoring every form of communication.

What bothers me more is the people who don't mind it. The idea that you should have no problem with it if you have nothing to hide is absolutely infuriating. It's the principle of the thing. It's like saying you should have no problem with having a survailance camera in your bedroom if you have nothing to hide. Maybe you don't, but at the same time, the idea of it is rather disturbing, is it not? Perhaps I exaggerate a bit, but it's the principle of the matter.

I've been trying to find a place to see it, but in the Bible Belt it's so taboo that no theater will tough it. The only place I've found is in Atlanta and I can't justify $20 in gas and $10 or so for a ticket.

It sounds absolutely phenominal and the trailers look good too. Maybe I can catch it when it comes out on DVD.

That's a really wise plan!

Sucks that you got ripped off though. If it was intentional, I'd be furious. I can remember stuff like that happening to friends back in the days of mass pokemon card frenzy.

Hope you can get something out of the games though.

You know you're getting old when you remember the characters and plot of 90% of the shows mentioned.

I liked pretty much all of it. I've never been too particular with TV shows. I never liked the challenge shows though, like Wild and Crazy Kids or what have you.

I can't say my preference has changed much, save that some cartoons, like Spongebob Squarepants, annoy me for an innumerable number of reasons.

Anyone watched Camp Lazlo? It's made by the same guy who did Rocko's Modern Life and has some of the same voice actors, but it still doesn't quite measure up.

All in all, I guess I kind of do miss Doug. Maybe if it's for no other reason than Saturday afternoons with bowls of cereal and singing along with the theme song.

I've had my bi-curious moments and I can admit it when a girl is attractive, but I'd have to say I'm straight. Something about the opposite gender overrides anything resembling same sex attraction to me.

I have a theory, however, that all organisms are bisexual and may be drawn to one side or the other based solely on environment, be that due to ideas implanted in previous times, chemical reactions, or curiosity. Sound viable to anyone else?

I like tall and thin(thin meaning no more muscular than your average soccer player or swimmer) guys, better if they have pale skin and dark hair.

I'd have to say that bondage appeals to me, but not in the painful sense. I like the helplessness and the ability to torture with pleasure that stems from it.

I like the idea of being dominated as well. The sumissive role has always appealed to me, so long as no pain is involved. Playing a slave for a day sould be interesting.

I also have to admit that the idea of a threesome sounds appealing, but that could get messy or uncomfortable, so it's not a primary interest for now.

Only within the country. Actually, only within neighboring states until Christmas break. I left my home state for the first time in 5 years and the Southeast US for the first time ever for California. It was interesting.

I envy all of you that can visit other countries or even other continents, but I'm the nut with the dream of crossing Europe and not needing a translator(There's how many countries and how many languages in that area? )

I like travel, fun stuff

How do I love thee, Metal? Let me count the ways!

Or bands, whatever works. My taste in metal is as varied as my taste in general music (pretty much anything but rap)

1. Hammerfall
2. Iced Earth
3. Judas Priest
4. Iron Maiden
5. Cradle of Filth
6. Dark Tranquility
7. Dream Theater
8. Pantera
9. Blue Oyster Cult
10. Children of Bodom
11. Death
12. Dimmu Borgir
13. Gorgoroth
14. Lizzy Borden
15. Nightwish(some call that metal, some don't)

I quit listing because I'm tired of skimming my music folder. I grew up in elementary and middle school listening to rock and high school is a combination of techno, rock, punk/ska, and metal. Should I just sum it up and say that I love music?

I do, largely for the same reasons Rydain stated. I'd prefer fuzz or nothing to a tangle.

Not to mention having hair there can be really unconfortable sometimes and thinking about the potential lack of sanitation makes me cringe. So due to comfort, germophobe habits, and preferences, I do.

I use a regular razor. I've never cut under my arms or my legs with it, so I assume i'm careful enough to manage that area with no cuts.

Head's up for anyone preparing to try it though, be prepared for the itching as the hair grows back and the potential picklies of stubble. No one warned me about it the first time I tried it, so it was an interesting experience to say the least.

Mattp - I realize it's not the people voting on it, however, if you take to the streets and ask, you'll find that a number of Americans don't know their rights and would hand them over for "security" and that a number don't know what the Patriot Act does and therefore approve of it by default. I've come across people that have never heard of it This is particularly true in our state

I disagree with the idea of restrictions being stict during war times, however, that's what leads to stuff like the "Sedition" Acts in the 1700's and 1800's. The limitations should be stricter, but not very strict. The first they always crack down on is the first ammendment (speech, press, petition, religion, etc) which pretty much your ability to voice an opinion. That goes against the ideas on which the country was founded.

That does bring up the question of whether or not we're at war though. We're at an awkward time as far as warefare goes, somewhat as Skydude said. It's somewhat like the American Civil War in which the technology had advanced and the war tactics had not. Napoleonic warfare was too outdated for the technology, which is where we had the birth of what became trench warfare. It's possible that, as Skydude stated, was as we knew it is over. Maybe this is the new face, I really don't know.

I feel the way Jomb does though, I would rather risk some danger than lose my rights. Anti-Federalists fought like hell to get the Bill of Rights and the ability to amend the Constitution in there, and I have full intention of making use of every single right I have. I'm also willing to fight for that. The Declaration of Independence and the Consitution practucally mirror John Locke's Two Treatises on Government. One of the Treatises states that we have a responsibility, not a right, as citzens, to overthrow a government that does not please us or protect us as we wish it to. Such extreme measures are not yet needed, but If the invasion of privacy continues, I can easily see it leading to that.

We didn't have the Revolutionary War and the Civil War for nothing, you know.

Did anyone else suffer from what feels like chronic and irrational fear of failure in high school?

I've gotten over fear of failing tests and what have you, AP is a wonderful tool for kicking your ass and the rebuilding it.

I mean more like failure at life. Let me give those of you who don't know you personally a look at my history here: I live in a 21 year old trailer, which is falling apart faster than it can be fixed, my parents declared bankruptcy when I was 11ish from 70k in debt, my father killed himself, both my parents did drugs and my mother never went to college. I'm so scared I'll wind up like my mother. I love the woman to death and I respect her for all she's done and all she's given me, but I am terrified of ending up in her shoes.

I have done so much to prevent myself from falling and having to live in this hole while I still can for free. I'm always done my best in school, I take difficult classes, I've learned to manage money and organize like no one's business, and I work incessantly, to the point of exhaustion to make better of myself. It takes money to make money, so I might as well make use of the tax money being spent on my lovely little public school, neh?

Despite my AP teachers being confident that I'll get a 4 or 5 on the exam, despite decent grades on the PSATs and a natural curiosity, I'm still petrified. I take the SAT in April, three AP exams in May and the ACT in June. I'm afraid I'll do horribly on all of them and never get into college or that I'll get in but not be able to pay for it and fall in debt.

I woke up physically crying a week or so ago because I had a dream that no college would take me, and it's really spurred my pessimism up again. I've gotten back into an old fear of thinking every moment counts and that every stroke of a pencil or pen pushes me further towards or away from college.

I don't expect anyone else to be as psychotic and in need of tranquilizers as I am, but has anyone else ever been this freaked out and generally terrified of messing up? I have such a hard time forgiving myself for mistakes and it can't be healthy or efficient to get as panicked or upset as I do. This isn't helped at all by the recent end of a nearly nine month relationship, which is coming back to haunt me in ways I might vent about on a different day, because my current ex is who I used to confide so much in. This leaves me feeling excessively scared and psychotic and like I have no where to turn.

Right, rant over before it gets too emo. Did anyone else/can anyone else relate or give me some advice on how to calm down some?

I realized that there's an entire section I forgot on my original post.

Does anyone else have a thing for hands? I find myself really attracted to guys with very strong hands or very pretty hands (like geeks and piano players).

I share the sentiment for backs though, particularly on guys who have a slightly effeminate figure. Not terribly sure how or why that works, but it's even more appealing if they have soft skin.

I kind like how markers smell...

Keitaro, you're more attractive everytime I see you. Excellent photos, despite the blur

Here's a few photos of myself that I don't absolutely despise:

Taken last year, I think I was 16 there.

Taken last week. A friend was having fun with my camera and the fact that plants are starting to flower around here.

Cramming for AP exams and the SAT, or attempting to at least.

It makes sense that constant interruption would lead to ADD-like thought patterns.

I can't imagine having to focus long on anything in a job like the one you described and it would seem that intolerance to interruptions would inhibit things quite a bit.

About mentally training yourself to stay as you are at work and have a longer attnentionspan elsewhere though, that seems plausible, but i'm not terribly sure how well ot would work or how you would go about trying to train yourself for that. I attempted something similar with some of my school work and although there was some impact, the results weren't henominal.

Best of luck if you decide to try that, it'll be interesting to hear if anything works particularly well.

Not saying I'd like to try it, but it's just meat. I'm sure something in each of our diets looks peculiar elsewhere in the world.

The true question, I think, is if they meant to use innuendo as an advantage in titles like "Dragon Caught in the Flame of Passion".

Also, I must say that the descriptions certainly don't sound appetizing. Terms like "stringy" should only be used to describe cheese on pizzas
