Yeah, I ripped Mario from SMRPG. Andddd I have the palette right, too. I even gave Luigi a palette by doing math with Mario's palette. Problem is that some sprites that use Mario's palette got a little discolored. I'll fix it some time.
I'm not sure what to do for Caped Mario since there wasn't one in SMRPG. The rips aren't 100% accurate because I had to make them fix in the 16x16 tile areas. Fire Luigi: I'm going to tone down the green a bit, and tone up the grey. Luigi: I'm going to change his eye color so he uses purple instead of green. Fire Mario: Yeah lol. Mario: You all know what Mario RPG Mario looks like so whats the need for a screenshot? |

Hey, that looks pretty damn cool. Have you considered ripping more stuff? Koopas, goombas, maybe even the hammer bros. Obviously, the sprites look out of place in SMW's 2-d world, but if you have the talent you could create some more 3-D looking objects. | |||

I'm going to rip some more graphics too, like the blocks and sprites like goomba as the other guy said. I'm going to make some custom graphics too based off of the grpahics in SM RPG. | |||

If you want, you can use the SM RPG Piranha I already ripped and resized.
I do have a Piranha with the full stem as well, I just happened to not have a screenshot around with it cuz I'm at work right now. But yea, if you want it, let me know and I'll link an IPS of my current and barely progressed project (should allow full games cuz IPS' are gay and Nintendo's not going to sue anyone for it anyway). However, people if I do put it up, don't use my mario gfx D: because that is not a rip. Not much of the frames are finished anyway, so it'll do you little to no good ; ). Heh, well that's an old pic. Status Bar is already fixed in the current game, except the "TIME" text, and mostly in lvls that I haven't worked on yet, which are a lot. You really have to be careful with your color choices to make sure everything looks right when you switch between the Bros and their Fire colors. The perspective is going to be a bit off because Mario RPG had a slight birdseye view, but it's probably not going to look too bad. It will be more of a challenge getting all the frames you need. Does Mario RPG have swimming frames, carrying item frames, or any small Mario frames for that matter? There's going to be a fair amount of heavy editing involved, and making a sprite look 3Dish without using actual 3D rendering software can be difficult. Anyway, we don't see many new Mario sets, so best of luck finishing this one out. |

I have to say, that looks really, really cool. I never thought I'd see SMW so pseudo-3-D-ish. Nice work! If you do decide to continue with this project, I'd suggest making the edges of the blocks and floors a bit darker or something. | |||

A few things that would make this easier are: More palette lines, double the gfx space for layers 1 and 2 (SMW uses slightly less than half the amount other SNES games allow ): ), and a 4th layer (allowing me to use 2 layers for the ground and one for BG). And since I can't get those due to the limitations of the SNES (except being able to use about all of VRAM for layers 1 and 2), those're the main reasons it's going to be tough, but I guess I can keep trying. It's possible to make something out of it, but sometimes it just seems like it'll take more effort than it's worth. And yeah, I can get 4 layers, but having 3 colors per layer doesn't help either =P. | |||

Wow! SMW Hacking enters the third dimension! (Well, not really...)
Kind of reminds me of the SSBM Adventure Mode or NSMB a little. Your screens look really good so far, just incomplete ^_~ If I may nitpick: The tops of the bricks in the cave area don't tesselate right. Looks like big holes between them. Oh, and are the bricks in the grassy area animated? They look a bit bland. There's a pixel glitch in your green hill background. (It's hard to miss.) Are your graphics ripped, or did you hand-draw those? Although they fit well with the 3-D perspective, they clash in art style. Are you going for an SM64 feel? The status bar looks almost exactly like the icons from that game. And I really, really like the ripped Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts font, but I don't know how well it fits into the Mario universe... And kudos for the custom palette l33tness! Those are some smooooooth shadowing effects in the pipe. Keep it up! |

I really like the 3D look (reminds me of one of the levels in Zycloboo's challenge). I may be wrong, but it seems like Mario's perspective will be off when he walks to the left. Since it is just a mirror image of him walking right, it will look like he's walking at an angle.
I don't know if SMW stores Mario facing left and Mario facing right as two different sprites, or if is the same sprite mirrored. If they are separate, you may want to adjust the left-walking Mario so you see more of his backside and less of his front. < |

Totally cheating with the time and as well with power ups. Hmm, I'm not seeing the whole Status Bar color thing, can someone point that out a bit more specifically =s (and ignore the "TIME" text and the pic with the green status bar colors for now)? Are there too many colors in it? Or, were you saying about the green colors?
