Its easy to change the hat letter, but how do you change the clothing colors without the Gameshark code. I never figured it out.

I think you have to find out the values that the codes change,
then use a hex editor and hard code in to the rom. I think that means you have to change: 8107EC38 to 007F and 8107EC40 to 00FF... Unless gameshark codes are in a special format, but all I think they change are values stored in hex... The M is easy to change from what i've seen, and then if you want, you could somehow change mario's height, which would be hard at the moment. I'll stop talking now. |

Gameshark codes are RAM values, and can't just be written into the ROM. You have to find what changes the RAM value and experiment with that.

Would it be possible to put the "play as" GS codes into the game? If it's possible then we could use the earlier dicussed model editing to fix yoshi because he's messed up in the GS code.

Okay, I have been playing around with the textures, music, and text, and I just wanted to know where to get the n64 patching program. I want to release my demo.

Spiky: The question's been asked already. Take a look at FreeDOS's post. He linked to a patcher there. Next time, try to search this thread a little... It'll do you some good when something like this arises.

^ Lunar ips patching utility ^ I don't think that Ninja would work for *.ips files. |

Originally posted by TanksOriginally posted by jensthecomposerOriginally posted by Tanks Yeah, I guess it's possible but to do that you have to reassign the animation and stuff. No one knows how to do that, and to make it 'perfect' you have to edit some animations which is very complicated. It is possible and easy to change the behavior code assigned to mario on each level. I'm gonna try to assign the "yoshi behavior code" to mario and see what happens, but I'm afraid that you won't be able to control him. I believe that because I once tried to change mario's behavior code to a cannonballs and he "rolled away", but I'm not sure. Gonna try out some behavior codes on mario later. About NINJA Patcher, it's said that it can take IPS patches and many other patchformats, but I've never tried it myself. IPS patches are not compatible with too big files (max 16mb I think..), like the extended SM64 rom. I'm hacking the nonextended rom, 'cause I'm rarely edit anything inside the mio0 files and a nonextended rom is easier to deal with. |

There is something I realy dont get... I found Mario's eye textures, and I tried to edit them red. For some reason though, the eyes dissapeared alltogether! I realy dont get this. I also did the same for his shirt buttons. I why would turning Mario's eyes red make the texture dissapear?
Mario: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g42/ajstal8/snap0009.jpg Like to remind you this is using tile molester. I know this sounds kind of noobish...but how do you put a link to an IPS patch online? (edited by ajstal8 on 08-23-06 12:27 PM) (edited by ajstal8 on 08-23-06 12:52 PM) |

TM has bugs on Windows; you may have corrupted a byte before or after the texture data.

Is there any solution to this problem? I'm actualy ok with eyeless mario, but what you said seems to be the problem with a few other things. When I edit certain textures and test what they look like, there are sometimes yellow and blue dots, even though when I check TM there are none there in those textures.

Unfortunately I think the only solutions would be to obtain and fix the source or run it on a Mac. It's a byte ordering issue, so it probably occurrs on all OSes on little-endian systems (basically everything except PowerPC Mac).
You can often work around it though by just using the + and divide buttons to move ahead or back a byte, or just avoid editing the top left and bottom right pixels. |
