$250 is cheap, so that isn't a letdown. Controllers are cheap, especially considering each one is its own GPS system more or less. Buying a browser really doesnt matter. Surfing on a computer is much better anyway. Region coding is still up in there since there are so many different answers. I don't see the big deal with it anyway.

I don't see how anything is a letdown so far.

$250 is expensive for a Nintendo console. $40 is expensive for a controller regardless of what crazy devices it contains. Other consoles already bundle a browser right in the firmware, and doing that would allow cool additional features that wouldn't be as feasible when having to buy the browser. There's plenty of uses for surfing on a game console, especially if there's no computer in the room (eg if it's in the living room). Region coding is completely pointless (when it's legal to bypass a form of "protection", there's a problem with the protection) and makes it a pain for people who want to import games.

$250 is expensive for a Nintendo Console? Why is that relevant when you consider how much cheaper it (still) is compared to the other two consoles? And.. honestly, it is only $50 more expensive than any of their previous consoles.. and it allows playability of all those previous consoles too.. Hmm, yes, seems reasonable to increase the price a tad. Besides, it is packed with a controller and a game as well.

Besides, it has been said for months now that the price would probably be between $200-250.. A lot of people just took that as "Oh, yay! $200!" without considering for a second that.. indeed, more realistically it would be $250. This should not be surprising at all, it isn't a let down either, and again.. it is still much cheaper than the alternatives.

Next, $40 may be expensive for a controller.. but it is not a normal controller. Do you expect them to suffer a loss on the controller, just to keep the prices lower? Nintendo has been making a profit on everything they've sold in recent (and otherwise for the most part) years.. Microsoft and Sony have been shooting themselves in the foot, anticipating a profit to make up for it in the long run instead.. And STILL their prices add up higher than Nintendo's on average, that's really something to consider..

Honestly, this isn't very expensive for what it does. More expensive than you are used to maybe.. but still less expensive than the alternatives. It IS the machine itself you want, right? I can't see why dollar signs alone are a "let down" when it is the console and what it can do that matters.

As for the Opera Browser.. Opera isn't free anyway, is it? I imagine it was up to Opera to sell it, not Nintendo.. But sure, they could have found someone else to do their browser software for them, which could have been free.. Eh though, coulda shoulda woulda.. Doesn't matter how often people might surf on the television either, if someone actually wants to that badly.. they can just pay up. Me personally, I'd never have used the damn thing anyway. My computer is right next to the TV..

As for the Region Locking.. I don't like it either in general, however they do it for a reason ya know? They want to control the market the console is released in.. That way, if a game is released in the EU and the US, and the US one is cheaper to import.. they use the lock to sway you into buying the EU version anyway.. If there were no lock, and everyone imported - there would be some problems eventually.. Like it or not, it has a purpose. And besides.. all prior Nintendo consoles had region locking, and all of them were EASY to bypass! I don't expect this one to be much different!

Just say "Good day" and keep on moving, damnit. Not that big of a deal is it? You don't have to say "Hello" or use a real greeting, just say "Good day" and keep walking if you don't know them and don't feel like talking to them, that should work well enough and shouldn't distract you from your thoughts much.. If you actually know the person who greets though, chances are they actually want to talk, in which case you should probably, you know, say Hello back in that case.. or something.

Eh, it shouldn't be such a big deal anyway..

Supposedly, due to the fact that Link will be right handed in the Wii version.. they're actually going to mirror the entire world. I don't understand why it was so important to do this, but eh..

Personally, I'm considering to get BOTH because of this. The human brain is not very good recognizing things in reverse order, so you could very easily enjoy the game twice over with it like this.. Regardless of whether I actually get both though, the Wii version is definately my priority.

Neb, they've had a year to port it over to the Wii.. Also keep in mind, the Wii is being regarded as a "supped up GCN" in terms of hardware.. it would be VERY surpising if this "port" of Twilight Princess didn't come out looking and playing exactly same.

What it really boils down to is the control scheme on the other hand, which is completely user preference and has little to nothing to do with the fact it was ported.. Personally, I think the Wiimote will be a very interesting change of pace. And as I said, with the reversed worlds, there might be merit in getting -both- of them.. Besides, Nintendo has a pretty damn good track record here, so I'd only expect quality service from them by now. (They'd severely disappoint me if they suddenly stopped trying, but I don't expect that to happen anytime soon..)

Argh, why oh why must they do this? KH1 pissed me off enough with the "Final Mix" crap, but I got over it.. why do they insist on doing it again?! Especially if they really did state there wouldn't be one this time.. ugh.. The changes aren't enough to justify buying the game twice, but all the same they're just enough to aggrivate a person in having missed out on something..

As for the Chain of Memories remake.. eh.. I'm indifferent on it. It was annoying as hell on the GBA and it took some really determination to complete it then.. Not sure if I even care.. But then again, one of my major peeves about the GBA version was its redundant and lifeless combat. 3D might actually improve the combat considerably.. might of course being the keyword, which could merit checking it out.. Bleh.. They'll probably stick extras in there too anyway..

This is a field that thrives on patience.. And it is ridiculous to suggest that approval is even that big of a deal.. Free MMO's have generally felt really cheap to me, or just especially glorified time wasters. Pay to Play MMO's more often are quality services with massive amounts of content to undertake.. By no means am I saying they don't get boring eventually but.. they tend to last years for people.

Free MMO's seem to be a side attraction, something to do when you're bored, as they don't often (if ever) have anything really there to keep you playing for longer sessions than that.. Mind you, I've never played this particular one, but yeah.. From experience that's what I've learned, so I'm with Colin here with the doubt of it being "just like WoW" - which happens to be the most popular MMO out there right now, with millions of customers.

Those types of sites are also rather meager in comparison to a major shopping corporations webpage anyway.. So that said, I'd say it is rather irrelevant..

Killing the whole thing just because they're posting too much is kinda anti-productive in keeping the forum community happy and close-knit.. At least in my opinion.

Eliminating post count and ranking in that specific forum however, seems like a fair trade off for those who want to fool around in there. But eh, can do what you want, no big deal to me.

I agree, that would be impinging on peoples freedom a little bit. But there is something the ESRB should be doing to control the amount of violence in video games, because kids DO end up playing them. Parents see Grand Theft Auto, some laugh at the name, some take it seriously.

Exactly what are you suggesting, then? They place the rating clearly on the packaging. Children do not buy video games, parents do.. It is -totally- up to the parent, you cannot justify at all that a parent just "laughs at the name" and ignores it.. No, that is not the ESRB's fault at all, that is the parent being ignorant, or feeling the kid is mature enough to handle it. And in the latter case, that's their choice.. In the former, they have no one else to blame..

Once it comes to being a teenager, and they can buy their own games, regulating their intake becomes harder.. But that's because they are maturing faster. Chances are, most games they buy are "T" (for Teen) rated anyway, and most "M" rated games are more timid than "R" rated movies that I've seen. (Not always, but still, you know what my point is.) And anything higher than that is never seen in a store anyway..

What exactly, do you expect of the ESRB? You want them to censor violence in games? That pretty much sounds like what you're suggesting.. and we all know how wonderful censoring is, right? Right, so what were you saying again..? Oh yes, it was this:

Well, some people feel censorship is necessary because there are instances where the parenting fails and kids will end up seeing this kind of violence at an age when they shouldn't really even be considering this. I don't advocate that it comes into real life through these video games, not on such a major scale, because there is enough influence from street culture that works its way in somehow.

No, censorship should never be necessary. There are books out there (probably even in your local library) that are a hundred times worse than these games.. Do you see ratings are books? Hah, you don't see anyone complaining about books anymore either now do you? Jack has nothing to stand on with his arguments.. As JDavis said, he's just another guy playing his part in the grand scheme of things.. no one special, and no different than the others before him. (except, perhaps a little less sane..)

In the end.. As a parent, YOU are ultimately responsible. You are not so fucking lazy that you can't read a letter on a box and make a simple judgment call. Nor are you too lazy to glance at a TV screen once and awhile to see what they're playing.. You cannot honestly tell me that it isn't laziness either. Parents need to RAISE their kids, not rely on fail-safes like censorship which hurts legitimate people..

Those aren't at all justifiable either. The chewing gum is on the same wavelength. Wanting to kill people over material possessions is dumb and there's no justifying it at all. Xboxes are not anymore "precious" than say, y'know, a HUMAN LIFE.

I think his point was more.. something like an X-Box has value, worth, it is not exactly cheap, and it is just like any other valuable high-tech electronic in your house. That isn't to say that it is justifiable at all of course.. just, at least in THOSE cases they were fighting over something of actual worth, something that costed money and had continual potential use for years to come - where here instead, it is fucking gum that you chew.. You can't eat it, the flavor fades quick.. it is a timer waster at BEST and it costs practically nothing to buy more of.

I mean.. gum.. I can't think of anything less valuable other than maybe a rock, and yet.. I can see a rock still being worth more than gum somehow (you can actually do stuff with a rock that might be useful.. not so with gum).. but gum is one of the most pointless creations ever to exist to begin with. To KILL over gum just boggles the mind.

I'm just going to buy my Wii.. However, for the hell of it I signed up anyway, and selected the four controller option.. The controllers aren't cheap, and four extra ones would be nice.. Besides that, it only takes 4 ref's versus the 10 the Wii needs. Sounds good to me.

http://www.freewii.com/?r=1286

Currently on the 12 hour confirmation thing though.. Do referals pass through correctly even during the wait period? Eh, well that's my link for anyone that cares.

Normally I agree with that logic.. Here though, it seems fairly easy to wash your hands of the whole ordeal afterwards. I've used a mail account I don't often use, so if they want to spam it, they can have fun doing so. (Besides, it is a gmail account, so spam is filtered pretty well anyway.) If they want to snail-mail me crap, I don't care, doesn't bother me much, I get it anyway.. They don't ask for a phone number either, so eh..

The little spyware\malware thingy is easy enough to clean. (Or as ||bass suggested, easy enough to get around altogether) The real question is just whether they hold up their end of the deal or not.. Might as well try and see..

They work, sometimes. The thing is though.. they make money from people going through with all these special offers. And, well.. very few of those people ever finish their end of the deal. (They almost never get enough referals..) That means, they get more profit than they waste giving out gifts.

Whether "this" one works or not, is hard to say.
