I had intended to re-rejoin the board for awhile, just never got around to it. Guess this is it, it's good to be back. Again.

I'm mainly from NewRO, so if you know me from there it's good to see you.

I use Marth. The lack of ranged attacks hurts at times, especially against some of the people I play with, but I always come out on top. And I'm sick of everyone going OMG ROY IS BETTER BECUZ OF FIR ATTAKZ, cause he's just not as fast. I deal with speedy characters better, so on a rainy day I'd use Falco too.

But original, I gotta go with Kirby.

You can't beat Tactics for pure coolness and challenge, it's always been an issue of mine that most FF games were too easy.

Tatanga's not on there cause nobody knows who he is unless you played Super Mario Land, a series more known for introducing Wario, a much better villain and now more a hero in his own right than anything, into the mix.

Smithy's not a cliche Squaresoft villain, but the fact that he's a Square villain in the first place should have gotten him banned from the list of Mario villains (even if SMRPG was one of the best Mario games).

Fawful isn't a badass or anything, but his goofyness kept me playing Superstar Saga. That and Luigi.

Wart is Wart. No personality, just some toad.

And frankly, I don't think Bowser's exactly a bad guy anymore. Nintendo's stuck him in so many situations where he's just not the villain (SMRPG, Superstar Saga, MarioKart, Melee, and all the rest), that he might as well have his own game, which would more than likely rock equally hard, if not harder, than most Mario games out there.

So we've got an unknown, a new hero, someone who'll never return, a green dude who speaks perfect engrish, a frog, and Bowser, who's decided to make up with Mario more than once for the good of the universe. I think Nintendo's trying to tell us all to just be friends. Unfortunately, it's doing it in the form of gratuitous violence, which Bowser is the master of. So, Bowser gets my vote.

Seriously, think about it: Every Mario game out there has had Bowser in it at some point. He's been the main villain constantly, and other characters in the series have gotten their own games, Luigi and Wario, for example. He's never gotten the chance to play hero, except in Mario RPG, where he turned out to be a kind, caring, sensitive fellow, only to be immediately overturned by the disjointed but heartwarming plot of Paper Mario.

I think it's time the big lug got his own adventure for a change, imagine it: Breathing fire, having fairly random sizes based on the environment you're fighting in, tremendous physical power, it'd rock!

I'd have to go with Ark from IX, the Giant Cactus or the Tonberry from VIII, or Bahamut ZERO from VII, cause KotR was cool, but took way too long for my taste.

If I had to pick just one, I'd say those things that look like beanie hats with the propellers on top and the two eyes and grinning face. They were in Cutman's stage in the original, the damn things were everywhere. They're impossible to hit when they dive down on you and you have to have like lightning fast reflexes to avoid them.

Yeah, then it's GO BOWSER GO!

I took on the wedding cake as just Bowser once. Then I forgot that he regens once every turn.

A better example would be if he were the middle character in the Valentina fight.

There are three things you can count on in life; Death, Taxes, and Megaman Games. I'll say FF is dead when I see more of them than there are of Capcom's little contribution to the gaming world.

Which is ironic, cause Hiryuu presents a good point in that I will more than likely continue playing FF games, just like I do with Megaman, no matter how crappy either series gets.

Dunno if it counts as an ability or a weapon, but the machines that Edgar used in VI (the chainsaw, the various guns....) were pretty good.

I also liked the Nail Bat from FFVII. Crude, but damn effective.

I loved most of the airship levels, and the pipe levels were challenging, but the best were definitely the sky world levels, they were really hard and you really didn't see too many of them.

I used to use a blue and white bird/soldier deck that leaned towards amplify and flashback, but nowadays (since I switched to Mirrodin block) I use a big artifact creature/nuke deck. Though I'm a bit light on the nukes, thus far all I have is Worldslayer, Wrath of God, Kirtar's Wrath, and Upheaval. Since I play a big creature deck this may seem like a contradiction, but more often than not I find myself floundering for mana and creatures as my foe pounds into me, so I have to nuke to slow things down.

Thus far I have yet to defeat Valcion. My old nomad/control deck whipped him though.

I remember my friend Nick got me into it, I had seen stuff like DragonBall Z on Cartoon Network and watched it a bit, but when he asked if I had watched Gundam Wing, I gave it a try and liked it a lot. A few years later I developed a fervent hatred for DragonBall Z, and stopped watching for a while. Then I got a cable modem.

Nowadays, thanks to being shown a little thing called Animesuki.com, I have to regularly clear out my hard drive in order to make room for my latest download.

The US needs a stronger presence in the Middle East if it wants to maintain a hegemony within those areas. The only way for them to keep the order in the Middle East with modern extremists abount, many of whom are in government, is to use force.

The current rumors just are anti-Bush. The thing is, any president can do this. The minute that there is an announcement for more troops, the legislative branches of the US government just need to pass some bills at the presidents recommendation...AND BAM! say bye-bye to your sons and daughters.

It's an excellent point. War is the only constant in American history, wherever there has been conflict there has been force. The problem is that my History books overglorify America as being the hero, but in reality the heroes of history are always the victors. America's been the victor thus far, and is as a result a legend in its own eyes. Our troops being spread across the world is nothing more than a testament to how victorious we've been.

I can't stand the idea of being forced to fight, mandatory military service goes entirely against the "land of the free" ideal. The land of the free is also the home of the brave, but some people would rather be free to not be the American definition of "bravery," which involves bloodshed, destruction, and now in latter day cases humiliation of one's foes.

We're all cowards, in a way. Even those who choose to fight.

The summer school thread reminded me of something.

My father once spoke to me about dying trades. He is into carpentry and tiling, he does custom jobs for people, and considers his trade to be a dying one. He says that the work will eventually be subsidized as landscaping has been, with "puerto ricans doing all the work and the work becoming lower quality" as he puts it.

I do not agree with his views, he consistently says things like that, that eventually "cheap labor" (which oddly enough in his case involves the use of minorities to do the dirty work, sounds quite familiar to me) will take over every profession. I do agree that mankind is getting lazy, but it's the same as it has been since the early 1800s. White america has always tried to get someone else to do their work, hence slavery, hence anti-union legislation in the late 1800s and early 1900s, hence the invention of machinery to do the work that, by hand, once supported thousands of families.

Nowadays, we see people voluntarily doing the same thing. Everyone wants to be a doctor, or a teacher, or an engineer, or something else that requires a college education (myself included), but the thing is once the job markets become saturated, one single question remains.

Who, out of all of these doctors, teachers, lawyers, programmers, and engineers, is going to do the grunt work? We're witnessing a reversal of roles here, as while everyone wants a cushy desk job, the overall quality of the profession decreases. On the other hand, trades like my father's, because nobody wants to get up at 5:AM to drive 60 miles to make people's floors, are flourishing because the artists are becoming rarer and harder to find (if you want a good job, anyway).

Eventually, because of this, will we live in a society that considers "poor man's" jobs to be those that involve the donning of khaki suits, meetings, coffee breaks, and the general business world? Will Wall Street become so crowded that nobody can walk the tarmac paths of profit? The small businessman could make a comeback, and eventually we'll see my father's baleful definition of "cheap labor" in the offices, while those who want only money will revert back to the manual labor jobs. It seems as though society will travel in a circular pattern forever, until eventually everything is mechanized and people will be able to sit on their arses all day and watch TV while machines do their work for them.

If that happens, I know I'll probably end up in exile, a shack in the middle of Montana, while everyone else around me sits pretty living a soft life. I can't stand not working. What would you do?

And me without an Xbox, I remember hearing about this game when it was called Project Ego, a friend of mine was obsessing over it.

Hope Lionhead does the right thing and makes a PC version, if they already announced one and I'm desperately out of the loop gaming news wise, can someone please clear that up? I'd love to try it out, it'd be like Morrowind, only, you know, with a reason to exist.

Hey, I wanna be a programmer. The thing about saturated trades is that they still work, if you're a cut above the rest. It's no good being sub-par in any profession, nevermind an easy or hard to find one.

Still, lucky for me my dad says if I'm ever in a tight spot he'll let me come work for him. Always have something to fall back on, right?

The gas pumping thing was rhetorical, obviously most stations are self serve now.

Though come to think of it, there's a shell station in my town that still has full serve gas.
