Actually, playing as Zitz in Battletoads gives you a slight edge. One of the electro-blaster thingy monsters in the wookie hole never targets Player 2, so he just sits there until you kill him.

I wonder if someone could check and see if all these games use the same music engine: Athena 1942 Ghosts and goblins Mottomo Abunai Deka Tiger Heli (edited by Dwedit on 06-23-05 07:14 PM) |

Admins, lock or delete this thread. The IPS converts the JU version of mario bros to the E version and contains no original non-pirated data. Really! Run the IPS on mario bros and you get a file identical to the later european version. (edited by Dwedit on 06-24-05 03:27 PM) |

I think that was Morimoto's emulator assisted speedrun played on Famtasia.

The translation of "100 World Story" fails on the newer more accurate emulators. At one of the screens at the main menu, the game is guaranteed to crash. In fact, during the intro animation at one point, the translator puts 9 sprites on the screen next to each other. (edited by Dwedit on 06-28-05 11:43 AM) |

I think the real issue is that this isn't background tiles, but sprites!

Thy Dungeonman is crap. The main point is to give Dennis the trinket, then you win. For more information, go read it up on hrwiki: http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Thy_Dungeonman Thy Dungeonman 2 on the other hand is a legitimate text adventure game. |

While and for loops are actually different. This might be compiler specific, but in a for loop, it remembers the value to compare the variable to, but in a while loop, it checks the variable each time. int number; int count() { number--; return number; } void some_function() { number=10; int i; for (i=0;i cout << i << endl; } } void some_other_function() { number=10; int i=0; while (i cout << i << endl; i++; } } I think the while version and the for version will have different results, but if you want to test it out and correct me, go ahead. |

Oh crap.. Sorry, I was thinking Visual Basic. Visual Basic does that stuff with for...next loops, not C++. (edited by Dwedit on 07-15-05 12:19 AM) |

In case you're new to the internets and have no idea what those two pages are a parody of, go to http://www.timecube.com. Gene Ray makes Alex Chiu look sane by comparison.

...And I though Red Mario Bros 3 had a bad color scheme... Ich! The green hill zone looks like it's running on an old PC with a CGA graphics card! The spring yard and marble zones also look bad. (edited by Dwedit on 07-15-05 08:37 PM) |

You can even jump off spikes if you are flashing invinciblity (makes it much easier to get that one heart in X2), did something like that happen there?

That's the worst SWF size optimization I've ever seen! 16.7 megabytes! The only thing that comes close is RandomFerret's Holy Shit! Ninjas! at around 9 megs. (edited by Dwedit on 07-28-05 08:33 PM) |

Um... the string content itself uses heap memory. Making a 'new' string will just stick the pointer and length on the heap, which is pointless unless you really really want objects on the heap. I never use 'new []' anyway, the vector class takes care of that for me. |

I can't really hear anything (thanks to the corrupting SMT rom dumper 1.0) in Touched, but I suspect that the reason that the Mona Pizza song does not have separated samples has to do with the fact that the song is only being played at one speed, so it wouldn't need to split each word/syllable apart when the song plays faster.

I've never needed something like VAC, I just set my recording source to "sum", then recording sound output just works. |
