I've recently stumbled upon SMW hacking doing some searches on google, when I saw lunar magic I thought I was dreaming! The editor is beautiful in my eyes, I fell in love with it immediately. Over the past two days that I've had it I've used up half that time tinkering with it, 1/4 eating/sleeping and 1/4 testing out my creations. Today I've delved into GFX and ExGFX stuff, I've read the majority of threads on this forum and I'm still confused. Maybe Im just retarded 1. Making a new .bin file, how do I do this? I dont want to copy a gfx bin to make an ExGFX one because I'd have to copy over the images already there. 2. When inserting ExGFX and than using Super Bypass, MUST I have garbled and demented "terrain" objects? 3. Can you add stuff to the 8x8 editor pages? I want to add graphics for custom blocks later on and I don't see any free spaces to save those tiles in. Maybe I overlooked something, I read the help page at least four times and I STILL don't get it. I'm a real moron and so you must treat me as such. |

Thanks! I think I have a grasp on the ExGFX aspects of LM now. All those hours cursing at my monitor and myself all seem to be distant memories now that I can actually work this thing.

I just tested it, it does not work. As Kyouji said, you can't get outside of the intro! That and the background is all garbled up.

The smc works, I like the first level except for one thing; the koopa eyes! My God that's... evil. You should learn how to use the overworld editor, it took me only 2 or 3 hours (even if it did take me 12+ hours and a very helpful forum to figure out exgfx...). A new overworld would make your hack real nice. (edited by DisruptiveIdiot on 04-24-05 12:24 PM) |

In addition to Kyouji's comments; TOO MANY COINS! God if I actually tried to get coins I could probably get a 1-up each level (or at least get closed to it) No bad language, keep it clean; besides Yoshi isnt that kind of dinosaur (a jackassosaurus *rimshot*) Some of your secret 1-up spots are... conspicuous and obviously placed. For example; Mudhole Marsh 3, a giant ledge with nothing on it? Yeah right! I also like how crazy the levels are, it's really enjoyable. Oh yeah, are there two ways to get *up* in iggy's castle, tell me if you dont use the shell correctly you're screwed. Edit : I like the poking pencils (as I call them at the last part of the castle ) (edited by DisruptiveIdiot on 04-11-04 09:57 PM) |

It allows you to press the letter that a sprite/objects name starts with and bring it up instantly.

Hmmm I think the ROM might not work on a fresh copy of SMW because maybe your copies are expanded. If they are than just send us the IPS and tell us what to expand the ROM to.

Couldn't you use the invisible solid block sprites? Just put them on the same level as the ground so it has the illusion that the cannon ball is falling on the ground.

I just set the Cannon Ball at the very top of the Level, and it lands after it drops 9 spaces whether there is ground or not Hmmm... Is that where they hit the ground in the final battle? Maybe where they land is hardcoded. |

Well than, that means you'd have to make a new sprite than to use the balls of death?

a .zip is a compressed file, you have to extract it with a tool such as winzip.

I love it! The difficulty is kinda insane but I still enjoy it. After you get about 10 game overs you get the hang of it and it's actually possible BTW like the switch palace secret. Edit : You should also edit the castle entrances and stuff to fit the candy theme, I think there was a thread on it before. Edit2 : If you're serious about making JAMH easier you HAVE to add midpoint entrances. You should position them after a big obstacle so there's still a challenge and those who make it across won't feel frustrated if they die after the big obstacle. Clockwork needs a time out (an eternal time out) Although that was harsh and stuff Kyouji. |

I have nothing against you either, I like your hack... you just post too many things that are easily answered in the help file or in another thread here. You need to stop posting so much, in fact it'd be great if no one posted in this thread anymore.

1. How do I edit "Super Mario World" in the title screen? It's no where in the help file. 2. Is there a way to increase the speed that monty mole pops out? He's a bit slow and I need to change that. Also I'd like to ask everyone on the board something unrelated to actual hacking. What makes a level fun for you? Lots of enemies? Multiple Paths? A good challenge? I'd like to know! |
