Very nice idea, much like the Ninji hack was (and the "rob-omb" before that). I've always liked these "enemies in place of Mario" because you can tell the little story there is from a different perspective if you want to.

This is my 2359th post, and with that I've caught up to my old board account in record time (2359 posts in 390 days as opposed to 2359 posts in 863 days). When did you "break even"?

Yes please. Now, to finish this off: * Make sure all spammers everywhere gets taken to court * Make sure rapists get a longer penalty than spammers |

I fixed it by using an entity pointing to the direct unicode code point (Я). Anything not in the unicode range might be interpreted as anything else but ASCII, and in those encodings the specific character might be something totally different, like the ß.

Only registered users can access it anyway, so I thought it was needless to give away a URL that wouldn't lead to anything.

There'll be something called System Messages later on so that you'll be notified when you qualify for a custom title, get a warning, approach a post milestone or the birthday of people in your post radar, etc. However we're planning to add some other architecture to play nicely with this but this will take some time, so it's simply not there right now.

Search is currently limited to staff. There's been talk about raising the limit but nothing's final yet. (It's not that it's technically hard - I literally have to change one value in the board configuration and that I can do within 10 seconds from writing this post, without access to code.)

Originally posted by BMF54123The new "proprietary features" are already known; it's mostly Avalon. I code for standards, which includes IE... if you're using about half of the second to most recent standard, that is. I don't particularly like it, but it doesn't mean I can't use the common ground to build a decent foundation, then make things nicer for competent, recent browsers. (I absolutely hate that they "won't be supporting" all of CSS2... but three months ago, IE7 would only be out for Longhorn and they didn't tout it at all. They're listening, and I can only hope that they do decide to change their mind on CSS2 as well, even if they claim to be listening to "enterprise IT manager professionals" (e.g. mostly ignorant dipshits) instead of developers.) Seriously, however... stop the flaming. We've been waiting for four years for an update to it. It's not going to be any worse than IE6, at any rate. I'm certainly not expecting Microsoft to do above average, or fill all the security holes, or not plug Avalon for all it's worth, or not act as if they just invented tabbed browsing. But I'm not being a cynical ass for the hell of it when we've all asked ourselves why they've stopped updating IE. |

Originally posted by Tamarin CalanisIsn't the obvious corollary of this "If you don't like reading our posts, don't bash our posts - just don't read them"? The frustration is easily avoided by avoiding the posts. We're not exactly forcing you to read them - nor are we forcing you to switch browsers. And if you ask me, assholes that lock you into one browsers are clearly that - assholes. I believe in common ground, which means standards. Sometimes I'll provide extras or a better looking site to competent browsers, but it'd never occur to me to use it as a means of limiting functionality. |
