You probably patched it to a SMW ROM that was 1MB+.

You need to patch it to an UNMODIFIED 512kb ROM.

So something has to be touching the block, like a sprite? Not just mario, any sprite? If so, why not just place a keyhole (with the graphics removed) ontop of it?

I was playing this game on my SNES a while ago, and got to thinking.

The keyhole is a sprite that can be placed any where and it doesn't interact with anything except a key. Would it be possible to copy the keyhole data to an unused slot, disable key interaction, and increase the size? This would create a static sprite that can be placed anywhere and not interact with anything.

So, would this work?

Funny Ya my wording could have been better there but you all know what I mean

Anyway so, I know how to edit the sprites and all that stuff, but making them bigger is a problem. Do any of the sprite editors made edit size yet? If not, does anyone know how to change the size of sprite 12 so its 9 16x16 blocks?

Ya sure I would love to try it out. This level looks VERY cool. I just get it off your site right?

*goes to check*

EDIT: Got it, I will try it out tonight.
EDIT2: Just read your post

The 5 with the | beside it is used for a 5up graphic. I dont think that it was used in the final release, but there is a block in BT that uses it

The green stuff above the goal tape is the bottom of the flying pirana plants.

The star in the bottom right is used for either a BG, a sprite when it dies, or mario when he has a star (I would go with that one)

For all the other stuff, delete it (make a backup) and then test the game and see if anything is missing of sprites or mario.

Because I want to make the bowser battle more exciting by putting in a moon. Regular tiles will not work, BG's will not work, etc etc.

There would probably be other uses like for BG's if you dont have enough map16 to use a bunch of tiles with minor differences. Just use the same tile and put this over top.

I just need it for a moon

EDIT: This is why I want to use static sprites:

This would be nice
This would hopefully be possible

Golden Yoshi, when I patched the demo that you sent me the link to, it wouldn't enter the first level. Ii use LIPS to patch and I tried it on the american 1.0 and 1.1 roms. Freshly d/l'ed. Iis there something I am doing wrong?

The 1.1 (I think) just gave me grabled graphics so I am pretty sure that one is not correct.

The 1.0 worked fine, but when it came to the black screen that said "Welcome to Yoshi's Island" it didn't go any further. The game didn't freeze, it just didn't progress into the level.

I had this same kind of problem with the patch on your site. I am pretty sure Ii am doing something wrong.

So what version ROM is it that I need to patch to and can I use LIPS to do it? Thanks

Also, take a look at some of the titles:

BMX XXX, Lisure(sp?) Suit Larry, DOA: Beach Vollyball, most fighting/shooting games, etc.

I dont want to be seeing little 10 year old kids playing these kind if games. This are adult games and the industry knows that its the 20-30 year olds with money, not most 10 year olds

Are there any ports of FF1 from the NES to the SNES? I know there is one for the wonderswan color but I need one for the snes.

So if there is some 3rd party hack or whatever could you post a link, or pictures or something? Thnaks

Well, for the Wonderswan, how much of a difference is it from the SNES?

BTW, I also did a search and got pretty much the same thing.

I just want to make a FF1 hack with 16 colour instead of 4. And the snes has more features than the NES.

Thats interesting. The inside of a computer?

I had a Win98 set a while back that I thought was pretty cool. What would be awesome is if mario was on a "window" and the scroll bars on the top and bottom followed mario based on his position. Maby with a layer 3 cursor wondering around the screen

That would be incredibly hard to do tho so I dont think it would happen

One thing about that picture tho, is it doesn't really look like alevel. More of a BG A mircochip foreground would look much better.

Posted on 11-19-04 06:19 AM, in Need some help with a JavaScript. (New to this) Link
First off, I am new to this so if the responses could not use huge technical terms that would be great

I am creating an .htm document using Microsoft Frontpage and I need to include a Javascript.

The script I need is from this site: Tooltip Site

I downloaded it, and followed the directions as best I could (putting it in the same directory [folder] as my document) but the script will not work.

I need the JS for tooltips that pop-up on mouse over (which I can do with the regular windows tooltips) and this JS just wont enable it.

I know it is something I am doing wrong, but I just dont know what I am doing wrong. This htm file will not be uploaded to a browser, internet page etc. It is just being run of my computer for personal use.

So any help would be great. Thanks

Yes, I know how to make tooltips, but I want to make ones with BG's, pictures, make them stay on screen for a fixed amount of time etc. THATS what that JS at that site does. Just go there and hover over the picture of the guy on the bike. That is EXACTLY what I need to do. Now, if I can do that with HTML, that would be great. But when I try to include a BG, or other HTML (like < center>) it doesn't work. This JS enables that.

Looks cool. Here are my comments: (#'s are shots in order)

1. Everything looks good here except the bricks in the top right. They are black and white, they should be brown.
2. Everything looks great here!
3. Looks good
4. Looks good
5. Looks good except the boss color.
6. Very Cool
7. Very Cool
8. What happend to mario!!!
9. Awesome
10. awesome
11. awesome
12. This looks very cool except the green lava Make it red or something (unless you have some plan and thats why its green)
13. Very cool again!

Overall this looks awesome!! Just 2 things I found pretty much constant is marios weird colour, and the status bars colour. They should, if possible, be changed

In SMW, the enimies never turned into fireballs when shot....They turned into smoke then disappeared. Im not sure about SMA4 because I have never played it, but if it is the GBA port of SMW, then it doesn't do that either.

Posted on 11-21-04 10:21 PM, in Back to hacking and having some layer scrolling trouble (pictures) Link
I am starting on a new theme, and that is custom design and mushrooms. I have a few levels done, but am having trouble with some layer 1 and 2 scrolling. Here are the shots:

The boat is on layer 2 and the rest of the level is on layer 1. I need the boat to scroll across the top of the water like its floating. What options do I need to set up?

I am having the same problem with the lifts, but I want them to scroll up and down the ropes. Hopefully this doesn't involve ASM.

So if anyone could help me out with these two problems, that would be great. Thanks.

Also, is it possible to make an ASM hack that will make all colours fade to black when you pass the goal tape?

Alright, I will try out the layer 2 in donut land sprite. Thanks

I wasn't thinking at that time. I want EVERYTHING except the status bar palette and mario (yoshi) to fade out. And I dont think its because of animated colours, I heard that the last 8 colours in each palette row were never used (or not used after the goal tape) so they weren't programmed to fade out.
