Ii think an even better block would be the sand blocks from SMB2. The ones you can pick up and they disappear. The mushroom one would be very cool aswell.

Since the sand isn't sprites does it use a "use next block in Map16" type thing?

If it says its to big in ZSNES, then it is an 8MB rom right?

You need to patch it to a 512KB rom or a 1MB rom. Also having it be a V1.0 rom may help but I dont know if that makes a difference. Are you using LIPS to patch it?

This is MUCH better!

Your mushroom is very cool, I haven't seen the NES SMB1 mushroom used before, good job. The blocks are 100% better. I have never been a fan of them but you can't please everyone (they still look very good). Flower looks better, chuck looks better, goomba looks quite cool, even the item box looks better (its not missing a line of pixels at the bottom any more).

However, the only things I can see not so good with these new shots is the pirana plant mouth and the block in the second shot. The pirana plants look really cool, but the mouth has to much black outline.

Tthis is really alot better. See everyone needs some criticts to make their stuff look better.

I love that overworld, a few glitches but it is amazing.

My very first hack was garbage, and I dont even have it any more. But it looked pretty much like most of these hacks posted

Posted on 11-05-04 09:54 PM, in Different way of selecting game file 1, 2, and 3? Link
I was wondering if it would be possible to get rid of the file 1, 2, and 3 that you can select as your save game and replace them with pipes like in SML2 for the GBC. It could just use a normal level and it would be so much better, IMO, then selecting a file.

So I know it requires ASM, but what would be the first step? I think that making pipes point to loading different files would be the hardest part.

Your first overworld/submap was very cool. Does the new one still include the door that lowers into the ground when the first castle is completed because that, IMO, was the BEST thing about the submap!

Posted on 11-07-04 09:51 PM, in FF Hacking FAQ/Running Q&A Link
I am trying to change it so that a default party and names are selected. I have accomplished the party and so you can't change names part but Ii can't set the names.

So I have 4 default characters with no names. Everything I read tells me to use a DTE table, and I have no clue what that is, so I just edit the names thru hex.

I am making my hack like FFX-2, so I will have to start learning some 6502, but if someone could tell me how to delete one character so I only have 3 that would be great.

So my questions are:

1. What is a DTE table?
2. How do I make default names (BTW, I have it set so its 5 letters not 4)
3. How can I get rid of one character?

Any help would be great, thanks

1st shot:
-Interesting...why is the castle the 1st level (provided mario starts at Yoshi's house)? Might be interesting
-The palette isn't that great for the island, the greens just dont go well togeter, to mush contrast
-many graphical glitches on the island:
1. Extra land piece beside the left most pirana plant
2. The rocks above mario intersect the path
3. Some of the land doesn't look correct, like the squarish area below mario.
-Also, a hint for the future is dont show all the paths reveled

2nd shot:
-Everything is good, except the palette of the mushrooms(the bottoms).

3rd shot:
-the ground palette isn't that great. And what do you mean by the comment you put under this picture?

4th shot:
-This is lookin good!

Just fix this stuff and it will be much better. I also see that you tinted the status bar red, that looks really good IMO! Maby you should tint the OW border red as well.

I posted something like this is the FF sticky but not many people read that so I will make a new thread.

I am trying to change it so that a default party and names are selected. I have accomplished the party and no-name change part but I can't set the actual names.

So I have 4 default characters with no names. Everything I read tells me to use a DTE table, and I have no clue what that is, so I edit the names thru hex which just makes messed up letters when I play. I thought 61(hex) was lower case "a" but it shows up as a sword?

I am making my hack like FFX-2, so I will have to start learning some 6502, but if someone could tell me how to delete one character so I only have 3 that would be great.

So my questions are:

1. What is a DTE table?
2. How do I make default names (BTW, I have it set so its 5 letters not 4)
3. How can I get rid of one character?

Any help would be great, thanks

Posted on 11-08-04 05:54 AM, in OW Screen Exits question Link
Well, there is only a certain number of pipes and star exits you can have.

So say a pipe lead from the main OW to YI and the number it was set at was 6. If you took another pipe and did the same thing with it set at 6, it wouldn't work.

So if you have like 20 pipes/stars then you wont have enough exit numbers to use them all. To bad there wern't more of them...or at least something telling you what numbers you have used.

EDIT: Glyph Phoenix beat me to it

So the exits stop at 96 (hex?). So can you not grab a tracer and then trace at 10, 20, 30, 40, etc up to 96 and then when it stops, you have the value? I would think that would work, then just change the value found to 78 (hex) which would be 120 exits.

This is just a thought, it might work, might not work I have no clue. But good luck with it and hope you find it out.

That is really cool how you made a goomba generator. You should make a torpedo ted generator, that would be REALLY cool.

The dino one sounds interesting. What do you mean by the hidden sprites? Are you talking about the boss dino's?

I knew about this sprite before. You can get the same effect using sprite F7 I think...

What you (or someone else) needs to create is a hammer bro that doesn't need sprite C7.

Or a screen scroll that goes left instead of right

I dont have any sprites to contribute, but I will comment on yours:

Koopa in the machine is pretty cool but the two sprites are different heights so that may look odd if used in the game.

The pot enemy is interesting. Might do well in JJ food hack

I've liked this one ever since I saw it also. VERY good job here

I've seen this before also. Its a pretty unique idea.

THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!! Reminds me of something from YI. This is my favourite in this thread!

IMO, the best sprite is BMF's "mechanical" pirana plant in his demo. They are just to cool!

I need some HTML that will allow me to hover over a certain portion of a picture and when the mouse passes over it, a little message pops up revealing a comment. I know how to do it with clickable links, but I can't seem to find any about comments. My wording may be wrong, so if anyone could help me here, that would be great.

Yes, thats exactly what I mean. I knew how to do it for an entire picture, but I want to include this:

<--map name="map_name">
<--area shape="rect" coords="x1,y1,x2,y2" HREF=URL1>
<--area shape="rect" coords="x1,y1,x2,y2" HREF=URL2>
"
"
<--/map>

(remove --).

What that will do is make a box around a portion of a picture clickable to bring you to a link. What I want to do, is instead of it bringing you to a link, I want it to only pop up with a comment. How would I combine these two?

I have figured out how to do almost everything I needed help with. I am designing what I want in Microsoft Frontpage so it makes it 100% easier!

Now I am having trouble with using Java Script in Frontpage. I know how to use some applets on websites and such, but using javascript on pictures is abit more confusing. Here is EXACTLY what I am trying to do:

This picture:

When viewed on the site with flash doesn't have those blue text boxes. They appear when you hover over certain areas in the picture. There is a javascript I found here: Tooltip Java that I want to incorperate. However, I dont understand how.

BTW, the thing I am doing isn't going on the internet or anything, its just an .HTML file I am making on my computer so if that is a problem let me know.

Hopefully I am explaining this correctly, and any help would be great. Thanks.
