I've played with Hyperhacker's sprite editor for the last two days, and got some expected results as well as some surprisingly interesting ones. They are so interesting, I had to share it with the experts. Perhaps we could collaborate on this information.

I've created a goomba generator by backing up the bullet bill data into an unused sprite, then replacing the original data with the goomba. I've also made the goombas squish when killed. So far I made it so that they look like a normal squished koopa. The graphics will be modified in the future.
I also plan to remove the puff of smoke somehow.

If you replace the paragoomba with this data:
100C3FEA59465E8700CE (Invisible Solid Block - 6D)
You'll get the hidden Dino Rhino images to work with the sprite, except the flames will be invisible. The interaction with Mario is up to you, but the flames still hurt him either way. If you want to see them properly, just change the graphics index to be sure.

Another very bizarre result I got from replacing Digging Chuck's Rocks OR Spineys (w/ Falling Spineys) with Swooper Bats, the background palette changes colour, hammers appear at the top of the screen, and lightning with the sound is enabled. Although I find this very interesting, I do not recommend you do this, unless you want to make a BS hack for the fun of it. I'm assuming that this changes into the bowser scene without bowser. Mechakoopas jump out of random locations, a dead give-away.

So, if you don't believe me, check for yourself...

That is really cool how you made a goomba generator. You should make a torpedo ted generator, that would be REALLY cool.

The dino one sounds interesting. What do you mean by the hidden sprites? Are you talking about the boss dino's?

I knew about this sprite before. You can get the same effect using sprite F7 I think...

What you (or someone else) needs to create is a hammer bro that doesn't need sprite C7.

Or a screen scroll that goes left instead of right

I have been doing this too.

10F00673F70FF98FFFF - A very wierd sprite. It will float into a shell, and then shoot up to the top of the screen...

857394738CDE748F004F - I think that this is the flame that hopping flames make. But there is no hopping flame and they just start appearing? Maybe a hopping flame generator

0005874DEF5058DAC505 - Something that makes you fly extremely fast to the end of the level...most of the time it makes you go way past the goal point and off the last screen.

10101010101010101010 - Makes all layers dissappear except layer one. But it also kills mario...

All were done on unused sprite 36.

I also changed all the unused sprites with leaping goombas. They all did something wierd...they all turned into koopas in shell when hit from the side with a feather. But weird things happened when I let them jump out of the shell. Like the game freezing, or stuff like sumo brother or dry bones jumping out of the shell. I even got a koopa in a shell to jump out of the koopa in the shell, which a charging chuck jumped out of

Creating a goomba generator, haven't you destroyed the bullet bill generator?

*Brainstorming*
Try to make a sprite based on an item box, change it's graphics and disable contact with Mario... Maybe invisible solid block would work as well?

Damm, doesn't work because I can't copy its ASM code because it's in a different location than most Sprite's ASM (same goes for the Light Switch Block)

Keikonium:
The effect used the curious graphics of the Dino Rino. Check in the 8x8 editor on that set, and you'll see what I mean. He opens his mouth facing to the side and another graphic with his mouth upward. So F7 is the address of that sprite? Hmmm, I'll check it out.

Mario Maniac:
Technically, yes. I did in fact "destroy" the bullet bill generator. Until I or anyone else can figure out how to make another generator, this problem remains unsolved in my book.

Atma X:
I think there is a way, but I'm not sure yet. I'd assume that you use the data from the "invisible solid block" but that's already been tested as mentioned above. Keep trying different combinations and maybe you'll get something amazing along the way.

Hmm. It looks like some sprites are making use of their index number somehow, so copying their data to another index, or replacing their data with another sprite's, can cause things to go screwy. You can tell this is the case by looking at the different versions of Chargin' Chuck; they all act differently, yet point to the same code and have the same flags set. I have a bad feeling this behavior is defined by each sprite's individual ASM code, and isn't stored neatly in a table somewhere...

Maybe it is just like with the block code, which passes the map16 number of the current block to the handler routine... why not.

I was thinking the same thing, BMF...since the unused sprites all have an unseen effect on what you put in there...and therefore not really unused

Yea, but if you post it in a completely different Thread, most people won't know what you're talking about, because we've got a different subject that we're talking about in this Thread.

And about your question, I don't know the answer for sure really, but maybe it's because you're using Win98, you might have to use WinXP. Other than that, don't have any Ideas.

You need to have the file COMDLG32.OCX in the directory of marioworldreconfiguator for it to work. Because I have windows 98 too.

I have tried to make a torpedo ted shooter that would come out of a bullet bill shooter, but all I can make it do is make weird sprites to randomly appear in the game.

No, actually, you CAN put in the folder, it just won't be very useful for other programs that might need it in the future.

I have created 3 sprites with it:

1- A Lakitu that is actually an Sumo Brother in the cloud, with shoots lighting and spines.

2- A Super Koopa shooter; that's why I've asked about the generator's destruction...I've did the same thing.

3- A lighting generator. I was a stupid thing. The lightings just appear from nothing falling in the ground, but when about 5,6,7 (don't remember) the generator simple stop working.
