How do you reset the configuration?

I have no experience about Photoshop, I have a copy of Jasc Paint Shop Pro

You have configuration like allocating RAM to Photoshop (at least in PSP you can dedicate a maximum amount or RAM for each open image), associated file types and such; for me it is located below "File" -> "Settings" -> "Reset configuration" - I translated it directly from my German version, so it might be slightly similar in an English PSP.

Again, Photoshop should have this too. Open the help file and search for something like "reset configuration" or "reset settings", maybe you will find something, YD.

Posted on 08-14-05 07:04 PM, in NES original game prices Link
For SNES: About 60 Euros for Yoshi's Island and Lufia - Rise of The Sinistrals were the most expensive investions each.

As for NES - I got Prince of Persia for about 60 Euros too. But other than that, consider prices for games played on the Atari VCS2600, the prices were as expensive as back in SNES' high days.
Now check what you did get about game length and variety in the back days.
But it still is retro feeling ... we played games like Pitfall and others quite often: A friend of me had that console and we spent a lot of time together in front of it

Great work.
Now the board got one of its familiar part back - these retro number GFX just rock when the board is also known web-wide when it comes to emulation and ROM hacking.

Posted on 08-15-05 07:01 PM, in Yamaha SoftSynthesizer doesn't work Link
There is no "good" software synthesizer/wavetable, due to the different architecture of sound cards. The standard "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth"(esizer) is crap, indeed. A huge latency of about one second I think and no additional effects for improving the sounds.

Nothing against MIDIs, but some tracks simply sound better wen they got pepped up by software. And the more expensive the card, the better the included software synthesizer for that - and it's also just designed for that sound card and will work. You cannot make a Creative software wavetable (file ending: .ecw) working for another sound card or even onboard chip. Even if, you more likely might screw up the drivers, so that you need to uninstall these drivers anyway.

But onboard sound suck anyway in these terms, I have an onboard sound chip as well and know that.
The in-built MIDI synthesizer in RPG Maker XP is simply awesome, it makes an incredible jump (in comparison from General MIDI -> RMXP's MIDIs) - but just downloading a program in another purpose than just a MIDI player is useless, yes.

I tried WinGroove on my second computer, a Win98 machine, and it was no good improvement.
If you really want to have good MIDI playback, there will be only the option to buy a better sound card, as they provide the hardware and proper fitting software synthesizers to make MIDIs just ear-worms. Then there are only the mentioned compromises with these mentioned "universal" synthesizers like WinGroove (which suck, see above).

Except on New Year's Eve I don't drink wine at all
But I anyway mostly tasted red wine; it even might not be that bad, but there are other drinks which I prefer, like a good and cool beer when it is hot - nothing against a fresh-drawn beer from the barrel

Posted on 08-16-05 10:35 PM, in Where does FCEU store its game save files ? Link
I started my NES emulator and realized that my FF3j save file was gone, I got into the Cave of Darkness and was really fond about that game and playing further.

I thought, maybe it just changed the directory and the emulator assumed there is no save file directory set. Then I opened up the config and noticed there was no entry for any directory; it seemed to be the default setting since I never put a path into that anyay.

I just cannot believe that file is gone - that machine didn't crash, I never had any problem and I so some more serious with that computer -> I do earn money and also work with that machine, do my backups ... but I never backed up that tiny NES save file, oh well, hence my dumbness (I backup a lot of stuff usually ...)

Which file ending to FCEU save file have and where I could search for that ?
Does FCEU immediately overwrites these files on exit ?
If yes, it is lost - since I started FF3j and exited it (didn't save then), after I realized the file is gone.
I don't mean save states but files - battery-packed files like Kirby's Adventure, Wario's Woofd and such.

Thanks in advance,

Surlent

The version is FCE Ultra 0.98.12 and it doesn't appear to have these hotkeys.
I also found a file called Final Fantasy 3.sav, but it is weird to have a save file when there is no actual save on it

I cannot get past 1-4, I enter the pipe in the end, as the screen doesn't scroll futher and come right out of the first bottom pipe

I like the backgrounds in the overworld, having fire bars outside (I don't know if this simply is possible anyway or requires a lot more work), these bigger bridge tiles remind me slightly about Giant World in SMB3 - and the bigger bounce when you stomp enemies, other than that it is a great hack so far ;(

I just thought back when I first used Blocktool in 2002. I simply didn't know why it didn't work and realized, that I forgot to open the ROM first in Blocktool. It sounds stupid, but this can happen easily

About that,

Close and then re-open LM. Go to the page and block area with the number you used. That tile now has the properties (or should) of the block you inserted.

I always thought it was a fault of my (old) computer, because all inserted custom blocks didn't show up in the map16 area until I reloaded Lunar Magic. At least I know it is just normal to do that

The Post radar is more a feature which might come in handy when you want to compare with somone, who is likely close to you, concerning the post counter. It may not have a real purpose like the Calendar, but it is just a neat add-on.

About ratings: People get rated by sympathy anyway the most time. If a very high-level user (not the powerlevel but the calculted level from registration time and experience) rates a lower person who got a 10 previously with a 2 maybe, the rating pretty will drop to a relatively low value if the rated person got votes from other people with lower levels.

Admins can see who voted for you and who you did give your vote; but mostly you will encounter people high in the 8s+ or having dozens of 0s, which mostly applies to banned people and ones who opened stupid threads mutliple times.

Disabling votes might be an idea. I could say I'm a bad guy because my rating is below seven, on the old AcmlmBoard it was nearly ten - also very few people voted for me. I think a single "0" by Acmlm had drawn that vote down to 1 or something similar.

As stated - if someone had a zero but is a nice girl/guy, I won't care about the rating as long I know the person has some "brain power" and/or is nice. A person like Karadur fulfills both and it won't change my positive attitude about him, even if he got a zero in his profile

I have a cheap GeForce MX4000. It servers me well, since I don't play except old games and I'm using emulators for NES, SNES and PSX.
A weird thing is newer drivers, which cause Zelda OoT to mess up (floor texture in Hyrule Field and other loactions is flickering or missing), but using the original drivers supplied from the install-CD, everything works fine.

If I was a creator who asked to close a thread (like announcing one demo from a RPG Maker game, but something like data loss or similar made the demo going so there was no release), and later maybe asked to reopen due to new material to show, I would ask either an active mod or an admin to do that.

That feature might be okay, but doesn't bring too much convenience.
It just can be misused - if it was about activity, even comparison in the "# of closed threads" might occur.

So people like FuSoYa would have pretty low numbers of closed threads, but since "activity" doesn't imply the pure number of posts and/or threads closed/moved/whatever (I know it - I moderated a bigger forum a longer time; hell I even got the job while I had the lowest post counter of all current moderators then ), this must not be a criteria. I still suggest posting an extra post like "I'm closing this thread." from a mod - it's the same effect though.
Does the moderators can close a thread while posting ?
I mean you have the normal reply window but a small check box which says something like "Close thread" - when you checked it and sumbitted your post, the board would close that thread after it automatically.
If yes, that feature anyway is useless ...

But in case of forums which existed only due to the creator's program and knowledge (like FuSoYa), there is no question in people, yes.
Just it _could_ lead to a comparison and maybe moderators might be dropped out at a certain time, if someone saw "OMFG, modderator XYZ clozed ounly 25 threads, while mod !37 trahed off tem!!one"

Posted on 08-19-05 04:13 PM, in Can someone please tell me how to grab sprites from MMX,4,5,6 ? Link
I began ripping PS sprites a few weeks ago, and PS emulation doesn't have background layers - there are even no real sprites. Ripping is not hard at all (at least if you use ePSXe and Pete's video plugin), but only time-consuming.

My method I use, is that one:
http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=16051

See my current avatar ?
There are some nasty errors, I could fix the character shadow if I was not that lazy, but Surt's sword really was a pain in the ass, especially if the background is nearly the same as the sword's graphics. I have to cut out the sword by hand: http://mitglied.lycos.de/mithrandir21/itsapainintheass.jpg
And Surt is a boss and he _doesn't_ reappear somewhere else (like having a mono-colourd background), an example is the floor in the Seraphic Gate here.

You really cannot prove the non-useage of tool- or even within-emulator-assisted runs.
I rather might suggest, instead of making speedruns, just something like reactivating a Tetris Attack thread, like on the old Acmlm's Board.

I just played yesterday, and my poor 4000 to 6xxx points in Time Trial were nothing to my opponent who pulled out 20000s and even much more in the matches

Back to those speedruns:
I actually adore watching these in games like Super Metroid, Metroid: Zero Mission and the Mario games ... but as stated, doing this on an emulator really isn't the same thing - also I'm still proud beating the Ancient Cave in Lufia II on a real SNES several times. On the emulator it is just a joke - there's speed up, save states (and then people say they did it on an amulator, with usage of these ) and other tricks

Too bad, Abused Rib isn't active anymore (what about Maticolotto? Anyone heard something about him?), I would say if someone achieved something like more than 60k in 2P Time Trial mode ... that might be nice to have recorded. He went for 99999 in Endless for about little more than three and a half minute - I needed 48 minutes the last time

I also would like to play against him, on the other hand there are the experts, certainly on ZBattle - I barely survive more than two or three minutes - my weak 6x chains (without garbage blocks) cannot even scratch these people, doing x10s and higher one after another
I'm too weak. On the one hand I beat the VS. mode on very hard without one continue one day, today I needed six of these (I just make regresses although I play very much ), and in 2P Time Trial I hardly get something above 6k - level 1, easy ...

If you wanted to record something in TA, gogogo. I like to watch good ZSNES movies and/or AVI files

I'm using Windows XP and am (maybe I'm the only one) very satisfied with it. It is stable, despite the numerous security holes and maybe incompatibility due to the missing DOS mode with olter games, I never experienced major problems with my installation.

Disgaea even runs on my computer with my cheap GeForceMX4000, although it is slow (assuming about 10 to a maximum of 15 FPS ), but it is playable
That doesn't beat the wish to buy a PS2 in december after Sony's new console is out (and the PS2 will get cheaper) - and I'll be ready to buy copies from Star Ocean 3 - Till The End of Time, Disgaea - Hour of Darkness and La Pucelle

Speaking of prices, Imoto, they were the same in Germany like in Austria (?) where you live.
I remember having Prince of Persia for NES bought for 109 ,- DM.

Considering the game time for getting through is fixed to one hour only, it is basically ... scam
On the other there were good games even cheaper ... Kirby's Adventure - I still love thag game today

Posted on 08-23-05 01:16 PM, in Tetris Attack Tournament - Round 3... I hope. Link
On the old board there was a very nice thread about that addictive puzzle game:
Tetris Attack, in Japan it was named "Panel De Pon".

Nevertheless, a tourney might be fun, although as for myself, I even won't stand a chance with my weak x5 and x6s, but the fun-factor is important

I know, tha last time I tried also to organize a tourney here - due to the lack of players it didn't got to that
So, I'm asking if there is interest - sadly all the people like Maticolotto, Abused Rib are not active, except Prier/Hiryuu who also seems to be quite good.

What about some discussion here, what are your recored in as-fast-as-possible-to-99999 in Endless ?
You will have to kill yourself when your reached it - at least the verified records on a Tetris Attack page (I must not post the name here, although it is VERY nice, but there are two ROMs on it ) has such an end.

What about fastest time in 2P Time Trial ?
As for my self, I suck - 99999 in about 45 minutes, beaten VS. mode on Very Hard only once without a continue (), in Time Attack I usually get something between 3000 to 7000 and I play against one opponent from time to time, who is as "good" as me - most of our games last at least five minutes.
Other than that I would like to participate in maybe a board tourney with pleasure
