Good job, but you need to fix the "ghost" effect on some of the enemies in certain screens.

I think they are in GFX14. I edited the water that way.

Specifically, I'm refering to the large moon. The rest of the submap is a beta layout of sorts. I plan to improve it later. I tried my best with the craters, and they seemed to turn out quite well. I'm thinking of making the bottom of the craters slightly darker than the main color or the moon. It just didn't seem to look right when it was darker than the inner sides of the crater. What do you think I should do? EDIT: Damned typo. Meant to say "these submap graphics" (edited by asdf on 10-23-04 12:58 AM) |

NES - Classic goodness. Some of the music sounds better than their SMAS/GBA counterpart (such as the ending theme, it seems to sound better at that fast speed rather than the slower speed the SNES and GBA versions have). Lots of fun Game Genie codes to mess around with. Three different versions (Japanese, US First, US Second). But the later version's stupid world names...damn! 28 P-Wing trick, which actually serves as a reward for beating the game. Then there's Mario's Adventure. My personal favorite. SNES - Better graphics, better sounds, save feature. Pretty average. I grew up with it, too. It gets second place. GBA - Loads of extra features, but a lot of them require the scum that is the E-Reader. Why don't I like the E-Reader, you ask? It's an obvious attempt to make more money. So instead of just spending 50 dollars on a game, you need to spend around 120 dollars to get the most out of it. It also has those stupid voices that ruined it all. They're tolerable in the 3D Mario games, but they just cripple the classics. My least favorite. |

Must...resist...urge...to post...LUEshi...GAHHH! Anyhow, if you REALLY wanna be cruel to the little guy, go into Lunar Magic, and place some baby Yoshis in a room with a Big Boo boss. Play it, and during the game, you can throw the babies at Boo and they'll explode like bricks! Another trick is to hold UP while pressing Y on Yoshi. He'll stick out his tongue without ducking. Also, in the European version, Yoshi was able to eat dolphins, but this was disabled in the US version.

First - Good. But you need to give us a shot WITHOUT that blobby paint effect. It really makes that one particular foreground look ugly, like a barrel of paint has been spilt over it. Indeed, I'm not a fan of that blobby color effect Second - Ooo...halloween pumpkin faces! You might want to add that light, though. The status bar is tolerable. As long as you can see all the digits clearly, it's fine. |

I set back my clock about a minute before Daylight Savings Time ended. I wanted to see what happened on that TV Listings channel, and I did. It screwed up on a blue screen, to a gray screen, followed by returning to normal with every channel listed twice, or even three times. It showed what was on now, and what was on an hour ago.

Originally posted by Juggling Joker I, on the other hand, beg to differ. I don't see how so it becomes easier with multiple graphics files. In fact, it seems more tedious, because you need to memorize which GFX files have what and you need to keep loading files. |

Looks pretty good. As for the other problems, forget the jumping and running. Reznor is the definition of "messed up." All that flickering, plus you can only successfully hit it about one out of every four times. Those other three times are when you get hit.

Heh. If you go into water as the first glitched Mario (the plant), you get Kuribo's shoe. But if you go into the water as any other one of the glitched swimming Marios, the games performs a nice crash. The screen turns black with scrolling dotted white lines for a few seconds, then the level comes back, except it's all glitched up and the game is frozen.

I hope that sun is a layer 1 object, otherwise, it's just going to look strange. The second is fine, just fix the green clouds and make the trees a little darker. |

I remember there being a trick a while back where you could use Reznor in a regular level, the only three quirks being that the log section is not there (just like in the enemy credits in the ending), that they spit regular fireballs (but still function normally) and the "disappearing bridge" causes a little havoc if you have walkable tiles at the point it should be at. Other than that, it's perfect.

Looks great. Touch up the cake world with a third type of cake-themed level (ie: stuff involving lit candles, icing rivers), and it'll be great fun.

Originally posted by HyperHacker GFX is permanent. You can use it for ripped or custom tiles you're likely to be using a lot, especially with the enemy tiles. Also, it's the only way to have custom Mario tiles. And I agree with levels being the most important thing. However, the problem I see is that many levels, although they have good design, just aren't fun. Most hackers tend to have the same setting for a world in all the levels. What that really means is that they have 3 or 4 outdoor levels of the world type in a row, maybe a cave level or a ghost house, then the castle. There are rarely new twists in the levels as well, which means things can get boring quickly. For example, the first level could be an introduction to the world, the second could be an underground level and the third could be similar to the first level, except the aspect of wind currents is introduced (for that level only). The original kept things interesting. Graphics are the next best thing. The overworld is important, but as long as it isn't too blocky, it's fine. ASM is just a bonus. Story isn't needed for games like these. |

01) Bears an uncanny resemblance to the original Yoshi's Island submap... 02) Actually, no. The pallete and the perspective are out of wack. The woman in the top left looks fine, albeit horribly out of place. 03) The goal post looks like it's hovering. No biggie, though. 04~09) Nothing wrong here. 10+11) That ? block looks out of place, as does the cliff segment above it. 12~18) Nothing wrong here. And I also agree with Hyperhacker that this looks too much like the original. |

Exceeded bandwidth. Get on over to Imageshack and upload those images to a *REAL* site, instead of Geoshitties.
