Originally posted by Surlent Yes, it has affected other programs, but the vulnerability has been known about since the middle of last year. Most applications that use libpng have patched the vulnerability, so it's likely that Miranda doesn't have the exploit any more. (If it did at all) |

I could get Super Mario Kart to start however, for me the debugging console appears, and I have to hit Run to get the game to start. However, I have an entire different problem. The input (specifically the directional keys) do not seem to register at all. I can set the controls up perfectly using the controller dialog, but when it comes to actually using them in-game they don't respond. At first, I thought it was my joypad, but I have the same problem with the keyboard too.

I hope you know PHP, as that version of AcmlmBoard has several major security holes that you'll need to fix.

From what I can tell, it doesn't run any games yet. Just development demos. And it might not run any for some time if the games are all encrypted.

Would it be anything like a Treamcast?

From looking at a MHT file in Notepad, it seems to be similar in format to a saved email. Testing this out, I renamed the MHT to .EML, and found that Outlook Express could open the page as an email. Perhaps, you could look for some kind of EML extractor utility, if MHT extractor searches turn up nothing. (Which they did for me)

Which Super Mario Bros 2j ROM are you using? You might want to try the ROM listed in GoodNES as SMB2J mpr4 (Hack). It doesn't have the title screen, but it might not crash at the end. (It's probably better to use this one too, as it uses a few more common memory mapper than some of the pirate ones)

The modem I used to use, did that. I found that there was a service running that seemed to cause it. PCtel Speaker Phone was the name of the service, I think. Try disabling it (if it exists on your machine)

Your boast of having every Pokemon hacking utility that has ever been released is far off the mark. You have no Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow utilities at all. I also have a few dozen Gold/Silver/Crystal utilities that you do not have. And I don't even hack pokemon. So yeah, cut down on the boasts, or you'll end up looking like a complete dork. Oh wait. Also, you did the big no-no of not properly stating who made each tool, and what their homepage is (if it exists). (edited by dan on 02-16-05 11:44 AM) |

Blackhole89 has stated that his program randomly crashes, and bugs up from time to time. If he goes ahead and releases it in this state, and it happens to mess up someone's hack or something, he'll get people complaining at him, even if he's stated that the software is slightly buggy. If it were me, I'd hold back on the release until I was sure that it was relatively bug and glitch free. Not too many programmers would disagree with me on that one. |

The main problem with giving the source code to someone to work on would be finding the right person to give the source code to. The person would have to: 1) Know C (or C++, whatever Lunar Magic is written in) 2) Know 65816 (or whatever) assembler 3) Have enough time to devote to Lunar Magic Can you think of anyone from this forum (hell, even in the whole ROM hacking community) who would meet that criteria? I sure as hell can't. (Cue random people jumping in with "I can do it!") |

No, they know how to use exploits in the board software to become an admin. You'll need to find and patch those exploits.

Why wouldn't it be a good thing to discuss in public? Sure, you'll get people using exploits on unprotected boards, but doesn't that happen already? If people discussed the exploits in public, and provided fixes to the exploits, people who know squat about security in PHP (i.e. the vast majority of people running Acmlm Boards ), could fix the vulnerabilities, and there would be less of this shit happening.

Mingw is pretty good. There's also the Visual C++ Toolkit 2003, of which I know nothing about, apart from the fact it's free.

It sounds like you are trying to load the ROM as a exgfx file. I think you have to export all the graphics using Lunar Magic, which creates small .bin files. You edit those in your tile editor. (I'm not sure on the details, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can fill in the details) |

Originally posted by Master M Um, all you did was change the program that .bin files were associated with, when you double-click on them in explorer. It shouldn't affect any other programs using them. |

Hmm, I think I'll have to go buy that, even though it sounds like a truly terrible article. |
