Needle Man's attack missed and right as he was to adjust his aim and attack again, Schwa thrown rings at him!

Surprisingly the rings pierced right trought Needle Man's armor, inflicting full damage!

Needle Man: "System error... Protective armor inneffective against successive attacks... Retreat..."

Needle Man dived under one of the chairs right next to Top Man!

...

Hard Man was a bit angry that Schwa dodged his homing boxing gloves... well, in fact, he was very angry. He picked up one of the 3 barrels that made up his cover and then thrown it at Schwa with surprising precision.

While Hard Man was throwing his barrel, Spark Man finished charging. He jumped from behind the kiosk and thrown a large, slow-moving ball of electricity toward Schwa! Since the ball was so slow, it would be easy to avoid enough... but the Rainbow Devil had other plans for Schwa.

The slime covering the floor was struck with a ray of electricity from above and the slime began to move... the slime gathered, forming a giant hand under Schwa. The hand then proceeded to try and grab Schwa so he wouldn't be able to avoid the incoming barrel that came from his left and ball of electricity that came from his right.

As for Top Man... well, he's still under the chair... but he's no longer hiding. He's observing Schwa, looking for the right moment to act...

Perfect Dark... DUH!

Those who say Goldeneye either:

-Think that Bond license > gameplay
-Hate the Perfect Dark single-player campaign (which I tought was better than Goldeneye's)
-Ignore the fact that you can actually just turn off the overpowered weapons in the multiplayer game setup

Well... that's pretty much it. The only good reason in this list is the second one in my opinion.

OFF: To Schwa: Indeed, Dark Weapon has one eye.

____________________________________________________________________

The energy beam doesn't do anything to the Dark Weapon since the retina of it's eye cannot be overloaded. Ex hoped that Ami wouldn't notice that Dark Weapon cannot be blinded and would continue wasting her time on Dark Weapon. After all, since Dark Weapon is totally invincible, Ex is safe as long as her foes ignore her and try to break her weapons unstead.

Then, Ex suddenly noticed that Kire used a blessing spell on Ami...

Ex: "Well well well... it looks like you decided to double-team me since I'm more than a match for you right now... I strongly encourage to do so! I do not see any interest in defeating you if I don't have to do any effort in the process so... go on!"

Ex was still standing there, waiting for some reason...

Change the level type or something like that (don't remember exactely becease I didn't used Lunar Magic in a long time...).

Prepare for uber-glitchness however.

You cannot change the boss battles much using Lunar Magic unfortunately. All you can do is add sprite generators.

Don't forget to change the level type back to what it was!

NOTE: The Big Boo boss, Lemmy, and Wendy fights are fully editable on another hand. You can also create your own "boss battles" if you're clever... and you don't need ASM for that!... altought ASM is a good extra.

Ex stared at Destin and Hero... as she stared at them, her eyes turned from blue to white... in short, she was switching her vision mode.

She was no longer able to see physical matter but now saw soul energy. The reason why she changed the way she saw the world? She wanted to see if these two figures were truly Destin and Hero... or if they were products of Origin's magic.

...

During this time...

...

NeoBowser stared at the Chimera. He knew exactely the very weak point of Chimeras... normal since he redesigned the Chimeras during his war against the Hunters since natural Chimeras have a fatal flaw...

NeoBowser: "Too easy. The foolish deity of this tower thinks he can stop us with that stupid thingy? Everyone knows that Chimeras can't do anything if you attack from a certain angle... and everyone knows that a single hit to the weak point will kill them, no matter how weak the hit was. Watch and learn!"

NeoBowser approached the Chimera from an odd angle... it was an angle at which the Chimera would easily be able to attack NeoBowser... but he knew otherwise. In fact, he was approaching from the "blind angle", in short, the angle at which Chimeras cannot attack... at all.

As long as NeoBowser stood at this angle, the Chimera could do strictly nothing against him... and while NeoBowser was still very weak (remember that his body is half-decayed and everything!), he knew that a single hit to the weak point was all that was needed to kill that Chimera, whatever it's power level may be.

Suddenly, a lightning bolt comes out of nowhere and strikes William's mini-stereo, breaking it.

???: "I hate One Winged Angel. Most overhyped final battle music ever."

The source of the lightning bolt and the one who had made that comment was none other than Ex Lightheart. She was none other than the strongest creature in the entire Universe... well, in her Possibility, not in this one. Ex was a female black humanoid pichu with blood-red eyes and with a permanent aura made of black flames... While Ex was seemingly a pokemon, in fact, she was not a pokemon... she was not of any know specie. She was the result of centuries of experimentations on DNA and soul energy... and she was most probably the closest thing to a perfect living weapon that will ever exist... if she is not the perfect living weapon.

??? #2: "I just hope Seph will finally get over his arrogance and actually fight unstead of using cheasy, cheap tricks every single round."

The second being was totally covered with high-tech armor. It was Admiral Zerodius, the leader of the Hunters and thus, leader of the entire Universe... well, in another Possibility, not in this one. Zerodius was know for his strange personality and for being the creator of the "Ex" beings. Few in this Possibility were those who knew what was under that helmet of his... and those who saw what is under either get traumatised... or agree with Zerodius never to tell anyone. As such, while Zerodius's accomplishments are well-know, his true identity and private life remains a total mystery.

Both creatures had seen countless battles and fighters... and Seph was exactely the type of fighter they loathed.

Ex loathed Seph for he was an insult to the "Ex" being specie. Seph is a fallen "Ex" being... in short, an "Ex" being that was killed by the Anti-Exs and returned as a shattered, twisted shadow of it's former self. While Seph kept all of it's powers after his original form's death... his mind was completely shattered, transforming Seph into a psychopath.

Not only was Seph's nature corrupted... but his actions are even worse! A truly arrogant, over-confident, and cruel fool, Seph cared about nothing but his so-called "winning streak"... which is in truth, a mindless slaughter of other beings. Ex truly wanted Janus to finally end this crazy monster's rampage once and for all...

Zerodius, on another hand, loathed Seph for another reason. He loathed Seph for he was one of the select few who could be reborn after being attacked by an Anti-Ex... and how did Seph use his second life? By becoming a member of the very force he had fought all of his first life! He had thrown away all of his principles, all of his dreams and hopes, thrown away his very identity to become just one more raging, mindless Evil force.

Seph was a fKitten Yiffer, a worthless piece of junk, outdated both physically and mentally (but most importantly, mentally). Such a twisted, horrible monster belong in the Prison Dimension, not in the Simbattle Arena.

As such, both of them loathed Seph and wanted him not to lose this battle... but to be completely, utherly crushed by Janus! They wanted Janus to finally show Seph how vain he is, how pathetic he is with his arrogance... but they both knew that there were chances it wouldn't happen.

While Seph is merely a shadow of it's original self... it still has it's insane power level. As such, it can pull off city-destroying techs in seconds and it's regular attacks pierce trought the hardest metal with ease. Seph was also able to break trought the barrier of sound and if given the opportunity, could even break the barrier of light.

Only the most skilled warrior would conquer such an unfair foe as Seph... and Ex and Zerodius hoped Janus was one of those warriors who can conquer Seph.

Well... I decided to make a hack of FF1!... and well, I want comments and suggestions!

As such, I'll tell you what I want to do...

=What I want to do
-Completely changed story... almost
-Add more characters during main events
-Make an unique boss battle theme for each type of boss
-Have new events (mainly, a set of rivals for the heroes)
-Change all the maps
-Change the GFX of all monsters and even create new monsters
-More areas, anyone?
-5-letter name hack
-several items can be bought at shops
-All stats for the classes changed
-Each of the four characters have their own set of GFX (in short, the hero will have a different Black Mage class sprite than the fourth character)
-Intro + Ending changed
-Extra endings (basically, losing at the last boss gets you an alternate ending and if some conditions are met or are not met, the game may end before you make it to the final boss)
-Bosses can have multiple forms (in the sense that when their HP get low, they become a different monster but keep their HP level)

Since I know next to nothing about Hex editing, a lot of the details above won't appear.

=What I will do
-Completely changed story
-Stats for all classes & heroes changed
-New GFX for all enemies & all stats changed
-All maps edited (will do towns last however)

Anyway... on to the details.

The backstory is basically the same... but what happen between the opening and ending is different. The main villain is different and will show itself many times during the main quest (altought you only really fight him/her/it twice in the game). Also, there will be more than just one character that will lie to the heroes in the hack... Also, it will seems at first that the world is threatened by four fiends but appearances are what they are: appearances...

Anyway, I won't give much details on the story for now. All that I'll say is that I have everything already planned out but since I'm just beginning to actually hack the game and can change details easily, I'm open to suggestions.

Now, time for some screenshots!... or so I would say if I had actual screenshots. Hack not nearly completed enough for screenshots unfortunately... but I have some pictures of some of the monsters I edited.

The replacement for the Imp, the Mask Dude! It's a slight edit of one of my old Imp replacements I had done in a past hack that was never released.

The MadFace in that hack was considered really funny and well-done... but I tought it would be illogical that the first enemy would be a floating face. As such, I edited the sprite turning it into a shockingly small guy wearing a huge mask. If people judge that the Mask Dude sprite is just too ugly, I might return it to it's original design.

The first boss, Legion. Took me a while to complete him. I think that he's somewhat well-done.

No, that's not a mistake. I plan to keep the Marsh Cave in the hacked game (altought the layout will be far different) and this guy appears to be the dungeon's boss! Unlike the original game, you only fight one of them... and that's a good thing since I'm giving it something no monster in the original game had: a good AI. This guy will actually use support spells to incapacipate the party and protect itself before moving on for the kill. In short, you'll actually have to use better strategies in the hack than just "TEMP on Fighter/Knight, 0wn3d enemies".

Judging from this guy's size, it's obvious that he's the last boss. While I think that I did a good job... I'm not satisfied with some details. Some of it's tentacles look weird and so do the eye. I'll probably change him anyway.

...

Well... comments? Suggestions?

Both Ex and Zerodius were unimpressed by Seph's big speech.

Ex: "Whatever. Just go on and fight!"

Zerodius: "I guess I'll go buy some refreshments. I will take a while until the fight actually begins..."

Ex: "Errr... Admiral? You're from Dimension 0! You don't need to eat to survive!"

Zerodius: "That's just an unimportant detail, Ex!"

OFF: Since I'm the only one who joined the RP... it could be a good idea to fast-foward the story to the moment after the class has been completed.

My character will continue on doing nothing... until the class ends.

A little comment...

You STILL didn't edited GigaBowser's GFX! It looks really bad, you know!

The sprites for the "dead" state for the Peach and Daisy classes are glitched also... and when Daisy changes class, she becomes a yoshi (WFT?!?).

It would be nice if those things above would be fixed.

I would actually like to have some help... but first, I want the hack to be somewhat playable. In short, first, I'll complete the prologue part of the hack (before the Bridge event) and then I'll let you edit the intro, bridge, and credits (if that was what you meant by help... but if you just meant about giving suggestions and comments as well as beta-testing... it's still appreciated).

Ex yawned.

Ex: "Doomsday Device? Undead Zone? Yeah... right... always threatening everyone BUT his foe..."

BOOM!!!

Suddenly, a truck fell out of nowhere and landed next to Ex! It was filled with all kinds of candies, chips, soft drinks, the like. Zerodius got out of the truck...

Zerodius: "You heard agent Grey! No more flaming!"

Ex: "Whatever!"

Zerodius: "As a being from Dimension 0, Grey has full power over imaginary characters. If you break the rules, he WILL kick you out of here."

Ex: "Whatever! The supreme leader of the beings of Dimension 0 won't let that happen, isn't it, Admiral?"

Zerodius: "Indeed. If you break the rules, Grey won't kick you out... I will kick you out personally."

Ex: "You're no fun!"

Zerodius: "Yep!... and I'm proud of being no fun at all! Now sit down and watch the battle!"

Ex: "Yawn!"

Zerodius: "Ex... do not test my patience!"

Ex: "OK OK I got it..."

A humanoid figure in a high-tech armor was in front of Cyberaptor. The armor was strange... it was almost identical to Master Chief's but was black with an orange visor and there was a strange aura around it...

Zerodius: "Hi mortal. I am your challenger, Zerodius. I'm here to test the power of the creatures from Cybercity and see if they're worthy of joining the Hunters... and you seem to be an excellent test subject."

Zerodius's visor turned red.

In the Hunters' mothership, a humanoid being in a high-tech armor was giving a briefing to a dozen of young yellow female humanoid mice that were all seemingly identical and were all wearing the exact same clothes.

(guy in armor): "Alright! Listen troops! Today, you shall all take a break from your military training and do something called "attending school". You shall be sent to this small planet, in a building know as a "High School". Your mission shall simply to learn the..."

One of the humanoid mice raised it's hand...

(guy in armor): "Yes, "Ex" being ZX-107 KL-2014?"

"Ex" being ZX-107 KL-2014: "Admiral Zerodius! We are living weapons. We do not need to attend school!... and anyway, we learnt all about those mathematics and physics thingies during our training!"

Zerodius: "As you already know... in order to protect the mortals, it would be best to first learn how they live and the like. It's the reason of your mission. You shall go there, observe them, create relationships with them..."

Another mouse rose it's hand.

Zerodius: "Yes, "Ex" being ZX-107 AP-9812?"

"Ex" being ZX-107 AP-9812: "Why create relationships? We're weapons. What we need is to follow orders, not make friends!"

Zerodius: "All wrong. Having friends will give you mental strenght and extra determination. As you must know, you were created to face the strongest Evils in the Universe... and unless you have a very strong mental stability, you won't be much successful... friends can help you overcome your fear and will serve as precious allies. Believe me, you won't regret the time you will have spent on this world! Anyway... back to the briefing. *COUGH!* OK... You shall observe the mortals there, create relationships with them, and attend the classes. The knowledge you'll gain there should help you in a way or another someday... Anyway! Questions?"

None of the mice moved...

Zerodius: "I see. Now, each of you shall receive an official name and shall planetfall immediately. I've already contacted the local autorities and as such, nobody shall ever notice that you're not from the place or ask questions of the "wrong type" if you know what I mean... now, move out!"

(all mice): "YES SIR!"

The mice were all teleported on the planet's surface... While they were being teleported, their name was uploaded in the cybernetic part of their brain...

...

12 identical young humanoid mice wearing blue jeans and a white sweater appeared in front of the school.

Mouse #4: "Hey Ex! Remind me why we were sent here..."

Ex: "So we could experience called a "normal life" for a short period of time. Your memory chip was damaged during planetfall, Jenny?"

Jenny: "No... no..."

The 12 mice entered the school. Leading them was a mouse that seemed quite different from the others... she was a bit older and there was something in her eyes...

While all the other mice looked like soldiers, the leading one seemed a lot more cheerful... and while all of them were unnaturally beautiful, the leading one was less abnormal for a reason...

Mouse #11: "Hey Ex! Why are you older than us, again?... and why are you different?"

Ex: "I'm from the ZX-106 generation, Melissa."

Melissa: "But... wasn't the ZX-106 generation slaughtered by the Anti-Exs?"

Ex: "Yes... at the exeption of myself."

Melissa: "I see..."

The twelve mice stood in the middle of the hall and looked around, a bit confused.

Ex: "Well... we're in, now! What to do now... who's got the mission objectives?"

Melissa: "I got them!"

Melissa searched trought her backpack...

Melissa: "Hu oh..."

Ex: "What?"

Melissa: "I... kind of... forgot... the mission objectives..."

Ex: "Great. We're stuck in this place with no instructions..."

Jenny: "Cheer up girls! It could be worse!"

Ex: "How could it be worse?"

Jenny: "Well... the Anti-Exs could be here!"

Ex: "As if this could really happen..."

Suddenly, a male orange humanoid mouse passed in front of the twelve mice...

Mouse #7: "WHOA! What was this cutie? He's SOOOO cute!"

Ex: "That's Siryx, the leader of the Anti-Exs, you moron! Which means that..."

Jenny: "OOOOW! HELP!"

A human wearing grey tights had grabbed Jenny's ear and was pulling on it while a humanoid fox wearing green pants and a dark green coat was holding her. Some kind of carbon copy of Young Link exept with white clothes and a strange fiery aura was standing there, staring at Jenny...

Human: "Yo Lieutenant Shadow! Yo look real man!"

Lieutenant Shadow: "OF COURSE it's real, you stupid moron!... but well, this is to be espected, Captain Dark! You ARE the dumbest of all the Anti-Exs after all!"

Young Link copy: "Looks like they ARE "Ex" beings!"

Lieutenant Shadow: "Indeed! Don't just stand there, Fierce Deity! Unsheat your sword and kill her! I'm holding her there!"

Fierce Deity: "Alright! Let's do this!"

Fierce Deity was about to unsheat his sword... but Siryx came.

Siryx: "Captain Dark! Fierce Deity! Lieutenant Shadow! We have no time for games! Our next class is beginning! We'll harrass the "Ex" beings later!"

The Anti-Exs seemed disappointed at their leader's decision... but the boss is the boss so, the Anti-Exs let Jenny go...

Ex ran to Jenny...

Ex: "Are you alright?"

Jenny: "Yes I am... but that was scary! However... you must explain to me, Ex..."

Ex: "What?"

Jenny: "The Anti-Exs were adults when you were younger... and now, they're about our age? WTF?!?"

Ex: "Errr... well... the name of the RP is "High School Hijinx", you know!"

Jenny: "What the f**k are you talking about?!?"

Ex: "Breaking the fourth wall, sorry."

I'm basically ready to release the first demo... well, almost.

The demo is completed up to the first boss. Once you pass the bridge, the demo is over.

Until I'm finished with the last details (and found a host), I'll post a link to the IPS patch.

For now...

Features:
-Altered stats (all monsters and classes)
-GFX changes (all monsters, some overworld sprites)
-Changed text (most of it is done)

What shall not be done in this demo:
-Maps shall not be changed
-various enhancement hacks by Disch not included

What is left to change:
-the amount of EXP and gold individual enemies give
-I think I forgot a few dialogues... maybe.

Now... screenshots time!

The heroes fighting a group of Imp replacements (which I named MaskDorks)! As espected, the first enemies are not hard to beat but...

...almost every enemy has an AI now! In short, almost every enemy has some kind of special attack or technique... and spell-casting is not limited to bosses only!

The replacement for the Wolf! The enemies that have no AIs usually have boosted stats in order to make up for their lack of intelligence. Nothing is easy anymore!

The replacement for the zombies. Virtually weak in everything and has no special attacks... but as stated earlier, all enemies are dangerous now: in this case, the enemies doesn't strike too hard and miss often... but they WILL paralyze you unless you kill them fast enough!

Some of the enemies in the hack will be strong... VERY strong. Fighting enemies such as Clusters and Slimes without first levelling-up is not a good idea. Here, a Cluster shows it's power by striking 5 times the White Mage for a whopping 34 points of damage.

Same battle, a bit later. This foolish low-level party just won't run from a fight. While the warrior's armor effectively reduce damage since the Clusters' attack power rely mostly on the amount of times they strike... the warrior's high defense won't protect him from the Clusters' special attack. In this case, it would be best to run.

The Slimes are the second-to-strongest normal enemies in the hack (well... in the prologue anyway). This is a rare sight: a Slime's strike actually connecting. The Slimes have low agility and accuracy but stupidly overpowered individual attacks. While Slimes can't touch high-level parties, this low-level party is getting slaughtered! Each type of character has it's own strenghts and weaknesses... and those differences are actually important in the hack! Thieves never have to worry about most undead and slime-type enemies becease of their high agility but magical enemies tend to devastate them. Mages suffer massive damage from enemies such as Clusters and Knife Beasts but last actually longer than the mighty Warriors against enemies that rely on their spells and special attacks.

The screenshot you were probably waiting for! The boss fight of the demo! All of the bosses have a specific strategy that they use against your party. In Legion's case, he'll put the party to sleep and then hammer the party with Lit and Beam. After a short round of hammering the party, he'll heal and put the party back to sleep. How you can counter his strategy is up to you.

No, the hack is not THAT difficult.

Monsters give more than enough money and experience to make up for their big stats and AI.

Furthermore, every monster has it's own weaknesses. As stated earlier, Slimes may do big damage... but they can't touch thieves at all. Spell-casting monsters are intimadating... but mages withstand their spells very easily.

Also... there ARE easy enemies.

Yes, MaskDorks have a special attack... and? Yes, they can occasionally get lucky and do more than 1 damage, so what since you kill them in two hits at level 1?

Yes, I DID raised the difficulty quite a bit... but I raised it so that people may actually have to use a strategy to beat monsters, not so that every single random party may slaughter their party forcing them to level-up during 10 hours just to tackle the very first boss.

Yes, I WILL post more screenshots... and more GFX shall be changed.

=SCAN COMPLETED

Target identified as an incredibly advanced armor suit. Technology level beyond anything ever sighted before.

No life-signs detected... the armor is definitely empty and yet the armor is functionning. No form of artificial brain present.

No explanations found on why the armor can be functionning without anything controlling it and without it having any self-control systems.

Right arm is in truth a mechanical cannon that emitts strange radiations. A strange bio-mechanical blade was also found. Blade made of unknow alloy and seems to somehow emitt dark power. A strange crystal device is within the armor's chest.

Crystal is emitting an incredibly toxic semi-liquid substance: direct contact with substance for more than 0.00000000000000012 second is instantly fatal with maximum protective gear.

Scan results inconclusive.

Threat level according to scan results: Omega

Use extreme caution and firepower. Chances of victory, let alone survival, at 10% and dropping.

=END OF SCAN

Zerodius laughed...

Zerodius: "I hope you found the results rather interesting... especially the part about the crystal and deadly substance."

Zerodius *using telepathy*: "You have no idea who you are about to fight... I will be unlike any being you ever faced before. I'm sure you'll be impressed... Now, I will begin this fight."

Suddenly, Zerodius's visor flashed red and it seemed as if a gigantic being entirely made of light had appeared in front of Cyberaptor for a second...

Then, Zerodius attacked... but unfortunately, Cyberaptor's senses could not grasp the form of the attack. It was an attack that couldn't be seen, heard, or felt.

The attack was a mental attack... an attack destined to disrupt Cyberaptor's computers systems, robbing him of the abilities his mechanical parts give him.

The ninjas attempted to jump out of the way of the incoming attack!... but failed.

As such, they were both destroyed!... but not before throwing their katanas toward Jarukoth, like if they were shurikens!

Almost instantly, 5 new ninjas dropped from above and landed around Jarukoth, surrounding him.

The ninjas didn't moved. They looked almost like dummies...

In the shadows, something was moving...
