It's not the right term, but if you understand it then who really cares? Anyway, it is the same track (I know because I have all the songs dumped as SPCs) but getting rid of that should be easy. The song just uses a 'loop 8 times' command before going into the SMB1 music, so you just have to find that and change it to an infinite loop, should just be a one-byte change. AFAIK, SMW's music data is pretty much the same as it is in an SPC file after the first 256 bytes, so you should be able to just muck around with the SPC until you get it, then find and change it in the ROM. | |||

I always thought this would be nice; a way to have different graphics show up in LM than in the ROM. What I do is just make crappy simple graphics for each block so I can tell what they are, then change them into something decent before releasing it. Could be difficult for people who use a lot of Map16 tiles though, since you'd probably need a few duplicates of other blocks. | |||

I don't think anyone would really mind, it's not like this was totally spam. Now if I understand correctly you want the black piranha plant object to become a coin when the blue Pow is pressed? There must be a table in the ROM somewhere that tells it what to turn into what... *does some quick searching* Hmm, can't find it, but I made a list of Map16 numbers: Blue POW - Changed: 132 -> 2B (Brown blocks -> coins) 2B -> 132 (Coins -> brown blocks) Revealed: 27, 28 (Door) 29 (Coin block) 2A (Coin) ?? (Note blocks, obj 3) Considering that, IIRC, the only tiles that get switched are 0x132 and 0x2B, it might be a good idea to do some searching with the hex for the 'CMP' opcode followed by those; also keep an eye out for 0x119 as this is the 'key' number - XORing those two numbers by this will give the other number. (0x132 ^ 0x119 = 0x2B and vice-versa.) And of course 0xC800, being the RAM address Map16 starts at in both banks 0x7E and 0x7F, would be another one to look for. Wouldn't that disable the buttons themselves? I still want them to work for things like custom blocks and re-entering castles, just not for scrolling. | |||

Yeah, but it only works in VS mode. Plus you have to be far enough ahead to be able to stop and back across the line anyway. Regarding Mew, I've heard all sorts of rumours that he and other secrets were available through button codes in the Japanese versions, though I've never made any attempt to verify them. Maybe when someone makes a flash cart and GB emu for DS, I'll load up the Japanese version of one of those old games and check it out. Could be a fun way to get used to the language. |

The descriptions are copied from LM, so any errors in that would be in MWR as well. The settings in question are most likely unrelated bytes (such as program code or other data) located after the sprite table. Since the table contains less than 255 entries, trying to access these entries gets what's after the table instead. | |||

Hmm, come to think of it, LM must keep a list of blocks to draw transparent, such as the ones that are revealed by a POW switch. It probably wouldn't be too hard to allow such a list to be read from a file instead, like with the custom tooltips... | |||

I always used to be able to do it that way. Hitting them from behind is a huge pain. Sometimes I go through them, usually they just bounce away but still act like they were hit (like when you hit the Big Boo boss the first 2 times; he bounces off like he was dying, but doesn't die). |
