Tim Montgomery used steroids, Z!

Holy shit dude. You took HOW MUCH TIME to find all this? I'm sorry, I don't think I have said this very much during my reasonable amount of time at this board but... GET A FUCKING LIFE FAST!!! There are things you can do besides sit in front of the computer and try to figure out something that no one will ever care about for more than 3 seconds.

Wait, any RPG made by Square is great??? Boy, are you in for a surprise. How about you recommend that paraplayer go and download "Square's Tom Sawyer", which, mind you, was a NES game released in Japan on 12/31/1989, and was never in the states... thank God. I can't give you the direct link to the SomethingAwful article, because it has a rom link to it. But I can tell you to go there, and I can tell you to Google "Square's Tom Sawyer" if you can't find it for whatever reason.

Also, FF9 wasn't that great. But this whole business of "everything by Square is holy... er, great" is just plain bullshit, as is evident by their attempt to create a game based on the Mark Twain book.

If you are going to recommend Secret of Mana, how can you forget Seiken Densetsu 3. If you are going to recommend Terranigma, how can you forget Soul Blazer? If you are going to recommend Lufia 2... ok, that game's awesome. If you are going to recommend SNES RPGs, how could you forget CT, SMRPG, along with Paladin's Quest, Ys series, Star Ocean, Breath of Fire series, Tales of Phantasia, Earthbound, Illusion of Gaia, Lufia & The Fortress of Doom, EVO Search of Eden, Arcana, Secret of the Stars, Bahamut Lagoon (if you don't mind strategy mixed in), DQ series, Live a Live.... are there any that are actually WORTH PLAYING for the SNES that I forgot?

There, that should keep you going for a while, paraplayer.

Oh, and Adamant, the GBA releases weren't THAT bad... if you are ever in doubt of this, just play Tom Sawyer

If we are making a list of PSX games as well, then... um, that'll take too long

I probably would have never made the mistake of downloading it :\

I played and loved Secret of Mana so much, that 2 wasn't anything special. The battles of SoM were although easier, much better than SD3's. It annoyed me how you just run along through a field, then completely stop just to pull your weapons out.

And about the Origins/Dawn of Souls thing... Sorry!
I never really cared for 'em anyway...

I got a whole lot of Square RPGs for PSX, that never got released outside of Japan... Some are hell-a-bad

blah blah blah....

PLAY SQUARE'S TOM SAWYER, DAMMIT! ...wait, hellabad? But that contradicts what you said.... earlier....

Aeclml, go play Word Munchers or something before you try playing roms on a PSX. You clearly need to learn how to read simple words. I have seen my friend play both Mario Adventure and Super Demo World on his PSX... clearly it works for NES and SNES....

Anyway, then I would edit Tall Tall Mountain and put a hidden wall in it that leads to a slide...

Yes, well, this was my first hack. Expect much better things in the future. What did YOUR first hack look like? You can't expect the best from a first timer. And besides, this criticism helps me understand how to improve upon this. And that text that doesn't match? That's been bugging me for as long as I can remember. After all, this hack has survived two hard drive crashes, three movements from one computer to another, and one entire loss of an archive. Now, if I hadn't put this out now, chances are I would of redone the entire thing. Wee.

You never said it was your first hack. Sorry

Ok, yea, here's some things that I think shouldn't be in a FF hack (this is only to help ya, see?):

1. No hidden towns in forests unless you have someone specifically give you a hint in another town that such a thing exists.

2. Make the first enemies at least somewhat beatable by a starting team. :| In FFHackster, you can rearrange what types of battles take place in different parts of the overworld. Go to the battle editor and the overworld editor and work on this a little. It really makes the hack a lot less evil.

3. I dunno why, but the whole door + tree thing isn't that good looking to me.

4. It would have been nice if you had at least an abridged version of the prelude in the game... having to read the whole thing in a Word doc wasn't as fun.

5. If you are going to superfy the graphics and everything, just go all out. Find out how to and use the Final Facelift bytes. It makes it look a lot better.

6. GOLBEZ!!! SWEET! (ok, so that's not a criticism, but yea)

7. I like the final level, but you should use those classic FF sprites as statues floating in space or something if they are going to be in the tileset. That would be cool.

8. Fix the overworld. Some really weird stuff happened to it when you made the IPS patch I am guessing. I am not sure how to fix it precisely, for it has never happened to me, but in the top sector of your map there is some REALLY weird junk. Fix that, and if you can't figure out how, ask someone like Lenophis, who has had to solve the problem before.

Ok, it could use a lot of work... perhaps making it a little easier at the start would make me inclined to play all the way through...

Oh, and I know what you are going through with losing data/notes and such. Although I am not sure why your comp crashes a lot, I have had to go through something similar. I have been switching households and computers a LOT recently, and as a result I keep losing my Kirby Adventure notes and having to refind data. I am doing that again right now. It sucks, I know. All I have to say is that each time you update something, you should put it on the web somewhere, even if it is emailing it to yourself. A crappily stored backup is better than no backup.

The forest villages I'm trying to incorperate into the story of the other two hacks.
Also, those statues are indeed used in the final level.
If you would like images of the more advanced hacks, I'll post them.

I'm surprised that no one's pointed out that peter is taking tons of time and energy to recreate games that have been released at least 3 times already, and sometimes more. And even so, he is making them easier because of the backup item.

I'm sorry, but I think this whole thing is retarded. I can play SMB 1-3 anytime I like, and on 3-4 different systems. Why do we need it on the SMW engine as well? And why do I seem to be the only guy that thinks that (at least, no one else has said anything)?

I'm just that good. I can edit the Adventures of Lolo with a SM64 level editor if I need to.

I believe that the enemies you are talking about are the Chuckyas.

And for your mountain level, maybe you can make the lava/desert area one half of the level and the other half identical except that it is a really cold snow level. Mario can jump into pipes to alternate between the temperatures. Where there would be lava would instead be solid rock you can walk on. Normal water in the hot part of the stage would be frozen solid in the cold part. Certain gaps would be filled with water that can drain your energy quickly. Mario can also find Spindrifts and Mr. Blizzards instead of Pokeys and Bullies.

What does that have to do with the already existent trick in Tall Tall Mountain? Anyway, yea, that idea had been implemented into SMB3 by DahrkDaiz. He abandoned that project, but it was still cool I think. He actually got it fully working.

You know, after looking through Kefka's threads, he never released a hack. I'm still waiting for his Kirby editor. (whenever that'll happen)

Anyways for a first hack it's not bad, you'll improve. I like a good challenge, just fix up the little kinks & you'll be good to go.

Editor, eh? I don't think I'm capable of making an editor

And I did release a shit FF hack back on the old board. It was such a disgrace that it was completely withdrawn from the net altogether. This guy's hack was 10x better than mine, even with the flaws.

Yea, you shouldn't wait for a Kirby editor. I am just hoping to get a hacked level. And, mind you, this would be quite a feat, for there are, get this, 7 different types of compression in the friggin game! It is harder than hell to do stuff to levels.

Yea, but if you want me to release a hack soon, I can, for I can scrap together a level hack of some random game rather quickly Thanks to editors.

Yea, Kirby is hard to deal with. And yes, I did release a hack once. It was shit. So, that should answer everything If DD or bbit were doing KA, you would have a hack already, I'm sure. Unfortunately, I am doing it.

Well, I'm sure that when the programmers of SM64 were making the game, they had guys create an editor for the game designers. This would only be practical, and I'm pretty sure most games are like that anyway. Therefore... if we could just jack that.......

Then a SM64 editor would be easy to imagine.

What exactly is the trick in Tall Tall Mountain?

....Are you kidding?

I said something like "I'd put a hidden passage in a wall on Tall Tall Mountain that leads to a slide" and then you said "And for your mountain level..." and then went on about changing the season/weather in the game...

The Tall Tall Mountain trick is the friggin slide!
