Well yes,

Things I'm currently working on:
- separate track editor.
- adequate CallLoop support.
- "Pattern Partitioner" for shifting available space between tracks, adding or deleting them.
- remixing the "Star of Darkness" aka sunken island aka the debris below tree/grass/vegetable/whatsoever palace theme from SoM aka SD2. That will be probably the first to be available.

I got stuck on CallLoops for a while, that was the reason for the delay. But well, no school within the next one and a half months, so I'm quite sure I will get this ready.

Yes, good to hear... I hope it is good, 'cause I'm somehow sick of Snes ASM development kit's permanent crashes...
[offtopic] Yeah, outta here, it pours all day long... well, tomorrow I'll head for Barcelona but before, I have to reach the 5:50 AM train to Berlin

Imported? No, at least not in the near future. As yet I've seen no-one to find out how Squaresoft's SPC data format (lets call it S-SPC, analogue to N-SPC ) works. I remix it, means, I listen to it, switch off some channels, listen to it again and try to hit the tones in Solar Soundtrack.

...but it's not less irritating when "oldbies" flood the board with threads like this one. Even if you're a n00b, you still - hopefully - are not stupid and try to look for threads that answer your question, if there is any. If you don't act so, it's the best for you to switch off the PC and head for the next kidsgart first.

Well, that goes for me too... the problem about N-SPC is that it was, in fact, never designed to work with very complex tracks, as the weird CallLoop system and the implementation of only a little subset of the SPC700's features prove.
The only stuff you could seriously port for now are songs from other N-SPC games and some early squaresoft or enix tracks. Sadly, we know only few about S-SPC and nothing at all about the formats Enix/Quintet (the guys behind terranigma, illusion of gaia et al.) and Taito/NoA (Lufia series) use. Crap, isn't it

The problem about it, for me, is that it looks too much like Linux... and romhacking hates Linux. That's fact. Is there any chance of porting it to Windows before it progresses too much?
...and the screenshot reminds me of a YI level. I believe it is 1-7, the one with the weirdo drug things flying around.
Need any help? I am currently not quite busy with SST and SMW-ALTTP

Have fun,
Blacky.

Either the sizes are wrong, or it isn't.
(1) The floating rock is definitively too high.
(2) Where is the rock wall right of the floating rock?
(3) Where is the wooden ledge below where the rotating platforms should be?

Now this one is really weird... I wasn't able to find any hint to the "dungeons under the guardhouse", so I went into a Misty Mountains cave, turned transparency effects off and dropped my way through to Saha*** (wtf was that guys name?) and went to the dungeons that way.

Burning eproms? Burning? I tried that once, and I actually burned it, along with my SNES (that's why I came into emulation, actually)... if you're successful it's been called flashing eproms.
And,btw... my current hack (SMW: ALTTP) has no problems on Snes9x but doesn't start in ZSNES anymore. Would it work on a cartridge?

The more people complaining, the more changes

Well, what about making it a two man team I always wanted to make some kind of RPG hack (my RPG code for SMW is, at the moment, rather alphaish ), but didn't yet have any time to understand Hyrule Magic. (Or, what's probably the better explanation, was too lazy to find the right ones amongst a list of about 4000 Map32 tiles)

What I could do:
- completely new music, eventually going with SMAS imports. (using Solar Soundtrack)
- new graphics.
- ASM hacking.
- level design / plot ideas.

How about that?

Have fun,
Blacky.

1- For music hacking I would need a ROM (SST's im-/export track function currently only works on SMW, and it would be a too large amount of work to feed it with ALTTP pointers), 'cause I don't know whether HM moves data blocks lik LM (the smw editor).
Well, I at least hope it will sound really good

2- Why insert them in LM? There're enough LoZ 3 (de)compression DLLs to extract or reinsert the graphics, and meanwhile you can edit them in paintbrush or whatever you like.

3- These locations are less asm- than hex hacking. I mean, you more or less know the coordinates of the bird's (for instance) starting location, don't you? Write them down in hex (big-endian, of course), place them near to each other and try to look up the following configurations,
XL XH YL YH
YL YH XL XH
until you encounter a good match. If there're more then one of them, use the famous principle of trial and error. It won't be more than about 10.

4- I mean high-level dungeon layout, means, how the dungeons are connected, how they look from the inside (shape, heights/gaps, ...) and "landmarks" like undersea lakes or whatsoever.
As for plot ideas, I will think about something realizable... but what about the following...
Nuclear winter.
Dark world and light world don't encounter at once, but you make some kind of nuclear GAU destroy the light world (not without w00t asmhacked special effects, of course ) and create a dark world as a destroyed counterfait to the "light world"; the palettes can stay nearly the same, the strange enemies (skeletons, mutated trees) can be called radiation victims/mutations and you insert some deeeeeep dark holes into the map. The final dungeon can be (inside) the nuke's impact spot. Give me some more time and I'll invent a good story for it (fitting with the current name, if you want so).

Have fun,
Blacky.

@Parasyte, no, I think you're wrong. Low byte means, it has the lower aka littler value, means, if it is placed at the end of a number aka the second position, it is little-endian.

1- As for now, I only know of maybe two released hacks... not enough for statistics, I think.

2- Yes, I know. I wanted to type HM, not LM... sorry for any inconvenience I caused.

3- That's quite impossible, as I think you cannot beat orynider and his negative knowledge

4- High level dungeon layout. That means, their shapes and the general maze/whatsoever ideas. Low level layout is up to you, for I'm no good at HM.

Plot- So why don't try something new? The overworld is original, why shouldn't the plot be? Turning SMW into an RPG (that's what I'm doing now) is not less crazy, believe me...

Well, the airship level looks near perfect, and I personally don't have anything against the forest BG's palettes, too...
I just can't understand why anyone goes havoc on changed status bar palettes. I have no problems with it unless it becomes ugly/unreadable (that, for instance, happens when the border and inner colour of the glyphs don't strongly differ from each other).

I'll try it out as soon as I can, meanwhile...

Well, one more hint... try to add some structure to the OW walls (aka the grassless fronts). That would look way better ( although perfectly nobody has done that for now ). If you have enough entries left in your palette, you could also try to create a 3d effect for them by making faces pointing more to the right a little darker.

Well...

straight fireballs -> asmhacking. You'd have to disable vertical movement for the fireballs or just keep their Y pos. constant.

gun holding -> heavy ASMhacking. Flower mario differs from normal mario only on the palette. You'd have to change that.

flower->gun -> extract all graphics to a joined GFX file (using LM) and look up the flower in YY-CHR (switch to 2bit gameboy mode, as SMW's screenmode uses only 2 bits of colour on BG3). Change it to the gun and reinsert the GFX. Done. Now wasn't that easy

if you want me to, I could do the first one for you in a week (that's when I get an access to a computer other than an internet cafe again); but the second one exceeds my current possibilities. Ask BMF, probably.

Have fun,
Blacky.

straight fire byte -> probably. I'm no hex hacker

gun holding on flower receipt -> possible. As I said, heavy ASM hacking.

auto reflip -> you can asmhack that back into hell quite easily.
