C&C Red Alert and Red Alert 2

Personally, I prefer the former, for the straight-forward simplicity of the gameplay. I haven't played much of the second game, but it's got an extremely good reputation.

Speaking of endings... Blake's 7 had one of the most interesting and weird endings ever... Seen it, Elmo?

Hmmm, he could indeed be talking about an MMO Zelda. Should prove very interesting.

As for "reinventing Mario"? Mario Tiddlywinks, you heard it here first everyone

As just a speculation, X-Box uses a unique configuration of USB for it's controllers, as opposed to the traditional setup of the PS2. I wouldn't know whether this would make the converter difficult to design, but it would almost certainly be the case for the Steel Battalion Peripheral.

My advice would be to buy new dancepads. There are plenty of good soft ones about, at reasonable prices. It's not like you have to spend £100 on a brand new TX-2000+ (which I did, incidentally. Works with PS2, PC and X-Box right out of the box).

I've got a new job in Sheffield, so I've got to find a place of my own within two weeks. I've only mentioned this to the staff so far, because I seriously haven't had enough time to get online much (most of my free time has been spent unwinding on GT4. Saving up for that Tommy Kaira ). Two weeks is waaaayyy too short a time to find somewhere to stay. My budget is also tight, too. It being a placement job means I only barely get enough to cover rent, too. I might have to take up another job and work a six, maybe even a seven day week unless Chad can get a transfer up there with me. At the moment, I'm still trying to decide whether it's worth arranging a more expensive flat that we can both share, but working two jobs until she can get a job. I've got enough as it stands to pay for rent, but tax, bills, rent in advance, bond and whether they'd be willing to let out to a first timer like me remain unknown quantities

So yeah, I'm a Student Software Engineer, get to get my own flat with my girlfriend and one of my friends is also working with me too, but I might be leaving the board indefinately until I can arrange ADSL or Cable.

It's not always that simple... I lived in the halls of residence directly opposite this place I was interested in two years ago. The telecoms company that proided service to the halls actually owned the switchboard in the complex. They only provided pay-per-minute, so that was the only option.

It did prove interesting, though. You've never seen so much ethernet cable going from window to window in a four storey building... ever.

I did check out ADSL availability, though. It seems it's good for the major providers It's just paying for it now

The information that the board needs to determine whether a thread is new or not is stored on the database. The information is centralised, and doesn't matter where you login from

This is the SQL query that changes the information every time you mark a forum as read:

mysql_query("INSERT INTO forumread (user,forum,readdate) VALUES ($loguserid,$forumid,".ctime().')');

It just creates a record for you reading the forum, and sets the date you read it. Every time you enter that forum, any threads that have changed since that date are marked as new

Slot loaders are so convenient. The iMac's slot loading mechanism makes general life so much easier. You can eject a CD, grab it and then just slot in another. Just one button press is all you need to swap a disc.

Slot loaders on laptops are also a neat touch. On a Powerbook, there's no delicate tray or mechanism to worry about.

I own both Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun. I still haven't got around to getting my Saturn switched, or buying a converter, so I've never even played the latter

I have played Ikaruga though. I got all the way to the second level

With less moving parts, they're probably more reliable than trays. So, you'll have to call someone to get it out, but when they're less likely to get stuck in the first place, they're not all that bad
