Ike the thread title says, I'm trying to move the table that controls the layer 2 scroll settings AND the ASM that handles it, since I want to add another entry that has layer 2 move slightly faster than layer, since I've changed around CGADSUB and TM&TMW/TD&TSW settings for level mode 0x1E to (pseudo) put layer 2 above the other layers, including the sprite layer. I'm using this in a level where there are Foreground objects in front of the level, which are really layer 2 BG tiles, reapeating. I know where the table is, but does anyone have any helpful advice for the ASM?

Holy Fuck. I know which HDMA version I'm using for COTMK 2. Man, your possibilities are endless! No more crashing HDMA palette edits, that's for sure! Oh, and you ARE allowed multiple HDMA effects a level, right? Mixing the itembox HDMA with another one would be fuckin' sweet!

To remove the blocks from the message, go into the overworld editor --> overworld menu --> Change special message levels and change the switch palace level numbers to Zero.

@blackhole: What about 2 reg write twice, writing the same number to the CGRAM selection register twice? You'd only need one entry, but that's with BMF's HDMA code.

Also, that may stop the brick animation, because I used switch palace tiles with different GFX several times, and they never gave me the switch block animation except for the ones with the message level settings.

Responding to your first post, one idea for an HDMA effect would be a desert heat wave, out of MMZ1 (RMZ1 to those who'd prefer it's japanese name) for GBA, in the desert area.

In MMZ1, the desert are has a background that has certain points where the scroll settings are changed, but instead of having the scroll settings changed, the scanline counts are changed to give the illusion of heat distorting the background. Unfortunately, I can't get any useful screens of the effect.

Yeah, bu the difference is that the vertical one has to be quite slow in order for it to look right, with only a few scanline entries used.

The movie industry'd love that.

Up here in canada it's msotly government price fixing, every time the price goes up 1 cent/liter, they make an additional $32 million a year. That, and almost half of the price is from taxation.

1. Did you link hdmamainv2.bin where BMF said to?

2. Did you link hdmasubv2 properly with palasm?

3. Did you update the two pointers in hdmasubv2.bin to be correct?

If the answer to any of those is no, then You'll need to fix that.

I beleive he means the sprite tile mappings... Unfortunately, your best bet will be to hope that MikeyK logs on and see this thread.
