Posted on 06-19-05 08:04 AM, in seems to be a bug in MWR Link
I am trying to change a koopa's setting "no interaction with mario", but whenever I hit save, mwr only saves some of the other settings. Why is this? AFAIK the ROM is not corrupted, and the other settings save. Would anyone know the correct offset in the ROM, or have any pointers if I need to fix it with a hex editor?

EDIT: nvm. the selection seems to not apply to the "no interaction" setting, because fish sosay don't interact. Anyways, if anyone knows how to stop the red koopa from interacting with mario, could they please help out?

Well, I've gotten a bit... I think I know how to implement HDMA to an extent, but I also think I know how to fix a few glitches in it, with extra coding. Anyways, what are you looking to do?

After the board upgrade, I noticed there is a system messages box just below my private message box in the index. What is it for? I've looked, but can't find anything that explains what it is. Please excuse this thread if I am just blind...

Try googling for a USB MIDI adapter. I found one website that had USB 1.0 (i think) interfaces for MIDI that worked with win98SE for $70, and a win98 version for $80. They just plugged right into the computer and ran off of windows software, according to the site.

OMG, I loved SNES. Here're my favs:

Super Mario World: Favorite. SNES. Game. Evar. This was the first game I ever got, with my SNES at 5, and I would try feverously to beat the donut ghost house, yet never getting peeved like I do now. Happy days, until tha SRAM chip died. Thank god for replacement cartridges.

Sim City: Much better than the PC version, I liked this games and still do because it gave me a lot of time to ond with my mom.

SMW 2: Yoshi's island: Liked this one a bunch too. Nice gameplay, challenging, and lovely art style.

SMAS: SMB? SMB2? SMBTLL?! SMB3?!?! *heart attack*. Loved the compilation. One of the best compilation games ever IMO.

Star Fox: 16-bit 3-D? Gotta love it. Great gameplay, and several textures used too. Brilliant example of what good coding can do.

SMRPG: Although i've never played the cartridge, I am looking to buy this one. Loved the style and storyline

MMX series: My favorite SNES games, or at least in my top 10. My kind of game, and sci-fi, to boot.

Super Maio Kart: My first intro to the DSP, this game RoXd by Sox for a while.

Kirby Superstar (i think that was the title, too young to be 100% sure): Nice game, great MP, at least for 7-year-old me. Liked kirby, too.

Ahhhh... Nothing like the classics.

Please please please just tell us that the pipes will not be as glitchy as the ones in DWTLC.

No, that's just the pointer to a handler rountine, usually. By that I mean it would point to something like this:

cmp #$01
beq xxxxxx
cmp #$02
beq xxxxxx

etc...

"All right. I like your style."

Snipes pulled out both of his pistols, and set them to power mode. Angling his feet, Snipes flew backwards, firing two shots at David.

"Come and get it."

Well said, BMF. Personally, I think that closing, but not deleting very old threads is a good idea, because that could stop year-old bumps. Unfortunately, there will always be someone who misses the help file, because I know few people by name who know what a help file is!

I think it looks good. Perhaps what you may want to do next is grass that sticks out of the ground a bit, almost like tileset specific object "bush 5" in the original forest tileset. Otherwise, maybe some coral formations, or buried treasure chests for decoration?

Well, the only explanation then is that YOUR rom is different from anybody else's. I might get will most likely be flamed for this, but redownload the original somewhere else and remake the IPS.

I can't really explain it the best, just a part of it. Begin your RATS tag with STAR in the rom, by entering the ascii values for it into a four-byte section. Then there are four more bytes, that were explained to me by escherial.

Ok, I'm assuming that you're confused with the size part (the "SSSSSSSS ssssssss" and "CCCCCCCC cccccccc").

First of all, when he says "Size-1", he means "the length in bytes of the enclosed tag minus 1". Therefore, 1 byte of RATS-protected data would have (Size-1) = 0.

As I'm sure you know, 16 and higher bit numbers can be represented in either little-endian or big-endian format. Big-endian is how we normally write numbers (e.g. in 1000, "1" is the "big end" of the number) -- little-endian just flips that, so the "big end" is at the end. For 16 bit numbers, you can simply flip the order of the two bytes that comprise it to convert a big-endian number to little-endian or vice versa. So, in summary, write out the number as you normally would in hex, then flip the two bytes and you're good.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what the "inverse" of the size is. It could either be the bitwise inverse (in which case you'd flip every bit: 1 becomes 0, 0 becomes 1, etc.), or it could be the maximum size, 0x10000, minus the size (and then minus one, in keeping with the format). In any case, the inverse size is probably there just as a check to ensure that this is indeed a RATS tag.

Remember to terminate your RATS sequence with an FF, and good luck!

Snipes angled his repulsors, and dodged most of the shots, except for a bullet that shaved by him, silghtly damaging his armour on his right arm. Switching his pistols to reflective mode, Snipes fired the shots seemingly randomly, however all of the shots would bounce back around David.

"Opps, you missed."

ooc: I've started charging my weapons. 3 turns until my sword is ready to use, 3 turns until my repulsor reactors are at full.
