Alrighty, I've got a couple of questions regarding the overworld.

1. How do you make the Switch Palaces and castles collapse when you clear them? I've tried everything I could think of, but I can't get it to work.

2. Is there are possible way to edit the colors of the level tiles? (Haven't tried to do this yet, but I might as well ask before I try to do it on my own and screw something up.)

...You guys actually tell them specifically what you are doing? I just generalize it and they seem happy.

"Hey, Bob, what're you doing?"
"Oh, I'm making my own Mario game. Right now I'm changing the overworld you can select the levels from."
"Oh, alright."

Done. Of course, there is also the fact that they don't know anything about computers, considering they bought Windows Me instead of 2000...bleargh.

Thanks, guys. Now I've got my first overworld done. Once I create some levels and find some web space, I'll post it in a thread and you can play yet another crappy hack by a n00b.

I think he's thinking along the lines that of all the Mario games, there are only 4 RPG's, despite the differences between them.

My hack is just going to be that: focusing on the level design and not the pretty graphics. I'm trying to make more of an extension of Super Mario World the way Nintendo would do it, along with a hint of Super Mario Odyssey (the only thing I am having in relation to that is an in-depth story).

And since I doubt anyone will read this, post count +1.

Not when you can't draw your own graphics, Kyouji, or have no idea of how to rip from other games. (Not that I have any interest to, anyway...that will come later in my hacking career.) And, at the moment, I seem to be having more trouble thinking of food names to go along with the differnet worlds than anything else .

You people are distracting me from my levels...unless I'm distracting myself by having the browser open and hitting refresh. But then you would still be distracting me by responding, but then I would be distracting myself by reading them...*head implodes*

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I've only been hacking for a month, and have been learning Lunar Magic as I go. I've already figured out how to change things with YY-CHR, and am progressing with hacking as I go. So, that's the main reason I'm doing no ExGFX and other things right now. I've just started to learn. Sorry if my other posts didn't necessarily explain that.

Hmmm...

- A Lunar Magic style editor for SMB3.
- A Donkey Kong Country editor! That would kick ass.
- And what HyperHacker said, hacks with edited music! Sometimes the music is the most important thing of a game; it sets the tone of the level or world you are in. Man, I could do so much with a music editor...

When you figure it out, please post it here or PM me because I would love to have it in some of the later levels of my hack. It would fit the atmosphere perfectly.

Alrighty, more questions!

-How do you change the colors of the individual Switch Blocks? I'm working with YY-CHR, and I'm changing the colors of three blocks (Yellow, Green, and Blue) at once, and it's really not helping me.

...Oh yeah. What is the GFX.bin that holds the Switch Palace? (I don't have all of the GFX in one .bin file.) I know there is a list somewhere, so if you don't know off the top of your head, don't worry. I'll find the thread somewhere.

I'm too used to all of the music in the game, so I just turn the sound off on ZSNES and listen to other songs while playing any SMW hack. Guess that'll change for some of the newer hacks coming out.

How quickly we change put the notes in? Is it, by chance, anything at all like NoteWorthy Composer? 'Cuz if it is, I'd become the Mozart of new SMW music with this thing.

I should have added the question: Are there any keyboard short cuts? Such as Enter-Note, Space-Rest, (on the Num-Pad) 1-Whole, 2-Half, 3-Quarter, etc.? That's what I meant when I asked if it was like NoteWorthy Composer.

I do like the screenshot, though. Very nice layout; everything looks organized and such. Can't wait to try it! *drool*

Apparently I suck at finding things. Could anyone tell me what they typed in Google/Altavista/random other search engine?

Unless you want to aggravate me and not tell. That will just make me want to work on my hack more.

Alto Saxophone in Band at school, Tenor Saxophone in my leisure time at home, and I'm learning Trumpet.

My bro plays Baritone and is learing Bass Guitar.

I'm also getting into the ReMix scene (http://www.ocremix.org), but due to a crappy comp with Windows ME (save me ), I can't get any good recording equipment and such.

I think that's what would REALLY happened if people tried to time-travel.

(And now, something relative to the subject)
I haven't really fooled around with this editor much yet, but I like all of the features that I have discovered so far. I think the only problem is getting myself adjusted to the .Net loading times. (I'm far too used to Lunar Magic and instant loading).

My two cents, whether you use it to buy coffee or not is your choice.

Shows you how much I've worked with the editor. However, I do plan to change that, and hopefully I might have an expansive knowledge of Chrono Trigger just like you, Geiger, for the hack that I have planned in my mind. I'll have to do a lot of work to complete my vision.

Ever wonder what would happen if The Legend of Zelda met Chrono Trigger? That would be quite interesting...omg teh spoiler

Heh, I just realized what Davallar did. Because you guys all posted your e-mail addresses, he took it upon himself to send you guys his hack because earlier you guys banned him for not reading the FAQ and such.

Also, I'd like to give your hack a try, Draklight; PM me if you feel like giving an IPS to me (I won't post it for the reason in the above paragraph).

..I just used Lunar Expand to take the ROM to 3 MB and then LIPS to patch it. Worked for me .

Well, I've played to the Plateau Mansion, and I'm loving it! Just like a Nintendo game; nothing hard at the beginning, everything is taken at a slow pace to ease the player into the probably hard situations at the end of the game. Only thing I didn't like was the Iggy battle. I actually died on that one and i never die versus Iggy . Oh well. Taught me something: Fire Flowers have a purpose!

Well, here are some things I noticed that you might want to change:

#1 Iggy's Castle
-The Thowmp that is just before the Ball 'n Chain attached to the wall doesn't change his face when he falls. And a section of him disappears when he retracts to the ceiling.

Grassy Plateau 3
-The "Yellow Teleporters" don't go up when you stand on them. Mario just shoots up. Perhaps you could change them into fans, giving the feeling that Mario is shot into the air, and is floating there?
-When I hit the coin snake, I moved it over to the left and pressed down. It hit the floor and stayed there, with the music still like the song you hear when it is activated. It stopped when I hit the Message Box again.

Seaside Soriee 1
-There is a section of four pipes in the middle of the world; one blue and the rest yellow, I believe. If you go down the first yellow pipe, you will end up in the area that is the sub-area for the traditional Yoshi's Island 4, and everything is unaltered. When you go down the pipe at the end, however, you appear in an area with no floor and a red-tinted background and you fall to your death. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but it sure surprised me.

Grassy Plateau 2
-The key and lock are a bit too easy to get. Of course, I haven't gone to the Star World yet, so it might be that way because the Star World is a bit difficult, no? Yes? I'll find out for myself later.

As I progress in the game, I shall add more. I expect more greatness from this hack!
