Three short reptillian figures staggered through the door, looking like that hadn't eaten in months. That was the case, actually.

Spaky: This is the glorious cafeteria? You know, I sure wouldn't mind some food, but I have the feeling I'd be getting more of it on me than on my plate!
Speeky: Indeed.

Now that there were actual targets, the peices of food that had been randomly thrown were able to reach their mark - the Lizard Bros. Spaky, Spiky, and Speeky were flipped onto their backs from the barage of food.

Speeky: Okay, we're out of here! This place is dangerous!

The three ran back out into the hall to find another place eat.

Computer detected traces of metal beneath the ground, but he did not know what to expect from it. As a precaution, he flew higher above the ground, suspecting some kind of ground attack. From the air, he fired a homing missile at SIR...uh, Marty.

Cyberaptor had to suck in his gut to avoid Mewquas's spinning sword attack, which missed him by inches. He immediately saw a weak spot, though. The velociraptor leaped high into the air, and came back down at Mewquas's exposed head! Just before reach him, Cyberaptor drew out his laser claws again, for added attack power when he swiped.

Kirby Star felt a tap on his back. The origin? Cyberaptor, 3rd Guardian of Cybercity, who had just then been teleported to the area. Cyberaptor stepped forward, causing his heavy metallic armor to clunk quietly. He didn't leave a very long pause when his computer, built into his armor, starting speaking.

Computer: Greetings, civilian. We have detected a presence of numerous shyguys around the area. Have you seen them? Our leader has determined that they are hostile, and we have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that minimal casualties are assumed.

Cyberaptor stared at Kirby Star, awaiting an answer. A little antenna unfolded off of his back and emitted a faint green beam of light, scanning him.

Here's a game that I've found popular at a few other forums I go to. I thought it would be appropriate here, since this seems to be the general...er...pointless posts forum. The first person asks a WWYDI question, and the next person responds, then asks their own for the next person to respond to, and then this third person asks a question. The process continues forever. I'll start it off.

What would you do if you won $1,000,000,000?

(Just reply and then ask your own question.)

Blue: Finally fall? Not yet! What do you think I am, a gruntling?

Blue crossed his wings over his chest and stepped backward over the cliff. He fell down to the platform below, and all of Jaques' strikes missed. From behind the cliff, Blue prepared his spell.

Blue: All right, shaman magic, let's go. Now, uh, what's the phrase? Ah, right.
Blue: Eekum bokum eekum bokum eekum bokum ee-u-ah!

Suddenly, a powerful bolt of blue lightning shot out of the sky, straight at Jaques!

Ah, phew. I was beginning to think that the setup for this battle was a little too far-fetched!
I have a feeling that the kitchen will serve as an eventful battleground for this fight...

Spaky took a closer look at who he hit when he heard the weeping. Indeed, it was just a little girl!

Speeky: Spaky! How could you do that?
Spaky: Buh - gah - er - buh - oh come ON! What were the odds of THAT?! I was expecting some big security guard or something!!!

Spaky, with his super speed, was over by Ami in the blink of an eye - not only to try to cheer her up, but also to block the view of wrecked kitchen behind the door.

Spaky: Look, uh, sorry about...about the hot dog, I, uh, was...I was juggling. Don't bother looking in the kitchen, it's perfectly clean.

Spaky smacked his forehead at himself as Spiky and Speeky scrambled to put everything back as it was in the kitchen.

A few days after a confusing meeting with a delivery cucoo, Kyle wandered around the more desolate reaches of the board with a paper pressed closely to his head.

Kyle: Lousy printable Internet maps...where is this place?

Kyle squinted at a map of the board he held in his hand, desperately trying to locate the chapel reserved for Jarukoth and Ada. He didn't know them personally - heck, he hadn't even met them yet - but he had obtained an invitation, and would arrive just like any other respectable member...but perhaps a bit later than he had intended. With his eyes focused intently on the paper, he didn't realize that he had found his destination until he walked into its hard wall headfirst.

Kyle: OW! Oh, there it is!

He took a second to straighten the collar of his suit, and then slipped through the doors of the chapel, thankful for the cover the movement of the crowd provided him as he quickly found a seat. If he was lucky, his near-tardiness would go unnoticed.

Spaky angrily poked his head through the kitchen door.

Spaky: Hey! You clowns almost finished tidying up in there? Things are getting ugly here!

Speeky and Spiky were busy lifting up the last shelf, and didn't respond.

Spaky groaned and returned to Korra, who probably hadn't noticed him.

Spaky: Look, uh, Koo...rachi (is that even a name?), about the wiener...

Spaky looked at the tearful situation in front of him, paused, and then broke completely.

Spaky: ...IT WAS ME!!! I'm sorry, you see I was panicking, it was a blind shot, I couldn't see what was happening andIwasrattledenoughwithextremehungeranddesperationandIreallydidn'tmeantohurtanyone'sfeelings -

Spiky opened the door and tapped Spaky on the shoulder, very visible and audible.

Spiky: Hey! The place is cleaned now. They didn't find out about the mess, did they?

Jackson: FORTY MEN, ROLAND AMONG THEM?!

High in the air over the wastelands near the mine, inside one of the many rooms of the Basilisk airship, Jackson pounded his mechanical fist on a tabletop, across which stood the pirate who had just told Jackson the casualties they had suffered in the mine. Forty well-trained pirates, and Jackson's first mate, fallen at the hands of a single foe?

Jackson: How could this happen?
???: It gets worse, sir.

Skeeves, a squat man who now replaced Roland in rank, had walked into the room.

Jackson: ...Continue.
Skeeves: Ehm, it seems that we are possibly being pursued by this Phantron. When we left, an object was sighted, following us from the mine. It was only there for a minute, before it broke off and headed southwest.
Jackson: Following us? This is worse than I thought.
Skeeves: ...
Jackson: All right, I want all men to keep vigilant. If anything suspicious is sighted, I am to be made aware immediately. For now, we will try to remain unnoticed. Return to your posts.

Jackson walked out of the room, followed by a few other pirates. A minute later, as a jungle approached on the distant horizon to the airship, it disappeared entirely under a cloaking device.

-----

Off, far away from this remote island, across a sea and many more lands, a moderately familiar figure noticed a strange light in the sky as he limped away from a grueling battle at the Sim Battle Arena. It was Kyle, the young gravity mage, born with the inexplicable ability to manipulate gravity's effects to suit his will. Normally he stood up straight, dressed in a stunningly clean white karate robe with smug determination, but his last fight in the tournament had gotten the better of him. Not only had he nearly been owned by his latest opponent, but he had also been assaulted during the fight by some unknown assailant...though he suspected he knew who it was. A few months back he had encountered a mysterious undead figured, Ghost, who had attempted to take his soul, and since his narrow escape he had been plagued with suspicious misfortunes like the one this night. All in all, the drama had a terrible toll on his back, and he was left limping away from the arena, wishing that a healing potion could do more to null his cramp, when he spotted a strange green light in the sky.

Kyle: Wtf-? I must have taken a harder beating than I thought. Now I'm seeing strange lights! Ugh, I need some sleep.

He proceeded down the dim windowed hall, headed toward the exit, but still the green light shone through the glass. He turned the corner, went down some stairs, and found himself in a courtyard. Here, the sky was clearly visible...and the beacon as well.

Kyle: ???...So, I'm not imagining this, then.

Kyle stared at the mystifying light for a few more minutes. His curiosity now nagged at him incessantly. Clearly, he would get little sleep this night.

Kyle: Gah! I've got to see what that darn thing is!

After quickly noting the relative direction of the light beacon, he magically opened a wormhole - his newest trick - and stepped through the portal. A moment later, he arrived in the wastelands, not too far from the mine.

-----

Close to where the mage previously stood, in fact in the very same building, were three reptilian figures - Spaky, Spiky, and Speeky. They each slightly resembled a yoshi in their body structure, but their heads were shaped more like that of a T-rex. They were small, too - the tallest, Speeky, was only four feet tall. Speeky was the first of the brothers to notice the signal, as they departed the kitchen of the SBA after an embarrassing ordeal.

Speeky: Say, what do you think that thing is?

He pointed out the window to the beam of light, which had still another two minutes to live. The youngest, shortest, and red colored lizard, Spaky, responded.

Spaky: I dunno...but I think the last time I saw one of those, it was because someone was in trouble.

Spiky, the middle-sized lizard named for his tail that was covered in sharp, bony spikes, spoke last.

Spiky: You don't think anyone's in trouble now, do you?
Spaky: Maybe. We should check it out, though!
Speeky: Yes, we certainly should inspect this light, as we

Computer: What havoc! The shyguys are in too many places at once for us to deal with. Luring them to our position may help.
Cyberaptor: I will create a hologram to bring them in - wait - the Kirby creature seems to be in trouble.

Cyberaptor became visible again, and charged straight at the mob that had tackled Kirby Star! Once he had reach the shyguys on the outside of the swarm, Cyberaptor's antenna folded out of his back, and shot a green wire frame-like beam at the soldiers. One by one, they slowly disappeared, being sucked up by the beam and converted into data, which was then stored in Cyberaptor's computer! Hopefully, the shyguys' attention would be turned to Cyberaptor, and they'd let Kirby Star escape.

Computer: Oh no! Cyberaptor! Incoming ground attack!

The armor tried to fly to Cyberaptor to lift him up in time, but did not make it. Just as Cyberaptor landed, the large spike impaled him through his right leg. The spike pierced straight through it, as this part of Cyberaptor's leg wasn't covered with armor. After a loud roar, Cyberaptor freed himself from the metal spike, and crouched at a bare spot on the ground. From there, he activated his Cyberstaff, which formed another shield around him for protection.

Computer flew to Cyberaptor's side, although he managed to fire a beam of energy at Mewquas along the way. Once he reached the wounded raptor, he re-connected, and immediately some small metal arms came out of the pack and began mending Cyberaptor's wound. Also, Computer activated the jetpack before the spot Cyberaptor was at was covered in spikes. Cyberaptor did not attack this turn.

Spiky: Huh? Fight? No, sir, we don't fight very mu - *CRASH*

Spiky was cut off when Spaky shoved him back into the kitchen.

Spaky: Oh, yeah, we are team-fighters! Why, are you looking for a spar? We'll agree to it!

He looked around the hall.

Spaky: Might want to avoid fighting in the hall, though. How about in here? It's pretty big.

Spaky stepped inside, and immediately started warming up by doing aerobics super-fast. Speeky, who had been inside the kitchen, did not hear Spaky's conversation.

Speeky: Eh, what's going on? We should leave now, before we're caught.
Spaky: Naw, I agreed to fight the two people I met outside.

Speeky was used to the kinds of rash decisions that Spaky made, and was not too overcome with shock. He sighed, but agreed to go along. Spaky had already agreed, anyway.

Speeky: Fine. Spiky, since there are only two of them, you can sit this out if you like.
Spiky: Wha-? You got it!

Spiky slipped off to the side, while Spaky and Speeky waited for Korra and Ami.

Speeky: If you want to, you guys can go first.

Posted on 06-28-05 01:51 AM, in Capture the Flag! Link
The landscape was perfectly symmetrical. There was small stream with two bridges over it, which separated two 100-foot stretches of grassy field that expanded in both directions from the water, East and West. At the ends of these fields, the land sloped upward for another 50 feet, and eventually reached a tall stone wall, forming a valley.

Kyle paced around the Western side of the valley, thinking it mighty convenient that he happened to stumble upon this little place when he craved a good game of Capture the Flag. He then started explaining the rules out loud, knowing that he didn't have to talk to anyone in particular. People would come if the game held promise.

Kyle: Okay, what I'm holing here is a good old game of Capture the Flag. I'll be the judge here, once at least two people join, though I'd prefer to have around 4 people to a team. If only a small amount of people join, I suppose multiple characters can be used for each user.

Right. The West side of this valley will be represented as the Red Team, and the East side will be the Blue Team. I've placed the appropriate flags at the base of each wall at the ends of the valley. All a team has to do to win is bring the opposite flag to their own flagpole.

Sides of the court play a different role here, as this is the Sim Battle Arena, not a normal game of CtF. If you want to stop an opponent, you must fight them. If you successfully beat an opponent on YOUR side of the valley, they will be instantly teleported to your 'jail' that is set directly halfway across each side, or 3/4 of the way across each field. The jail is the little circle drawn in the grass. You can do nothing but watch the game in the jail. Any prisoners can be freed if their ally can press the button set in plain sight right in front of the jail. The prisoners will then be teleported to their side of the valley, right next to the stream, and their HP and MP will be recovered.

However, if you beat an opponent on THEIR side of the valley, they will only be frozen for two turns (wait until the other team moves twice). Then their HP and MP will be recovered, and they can continue.

Remember, your goal is to capture the flag, not beat your opponents into submission. As such, it would be smart to try to escape any opponents you meet on their side of the court, and run to get the flag. I mean, would you want to wait around in jail if you lost? So, try not to let your opponents get past you. I predict that attacks that slow their target will be useful here.

I figure it will take 3 turns of running for a fast character to make it to the end of one side. Probably 4 for a medium-speed character, and 5 for a slow one.

As is with all battles, it'll be up to the defender to say whether an attack misses or hits. Be fair; I'll be watching.

Kyle pulled out a handheld remote thingy.

Kyle: Also, if things start moving kind of slow, I'll use this device to make random events happen. Like what? I'm not telling.

So anyways, you can join now. Just say what side you want to be on. If teams are too uneven, I'll shake it up, and if an odd number of people join, I'll send in Cyberaptor for the shorter team. He's a good guy.

You have until Thursday to join. Past that, NO ADMITTANCE.

So join already!

Kyle disappeared somehow.
