No. The region will move. The simple fact is that it will not be inhabitable for too many years, the response of botht he public and private worlds has been too slow. The Mississippi river, as stated, is a meandering river. Now that there is a 10% loss of land on average in an area that it flows, it will seek the shortest route to the Gulf Coast. Guess what is now the shortest way? Try through Baton Rouge. The next big swamp is the one that NO was built on. New Orleans will not be the same. It will not be a beacon of civilization. It will not be rebuilt to be a major population centre. It is going to be a very expensive industrial centre that will be hard to to keep above the water level.

We're looking at something that is a very rare occurance...And what people aren't seeming to remember is something pretty darned frightening. There are three more months in hurricane season.

And the problem is that the environment is constanly shifting and changing. Those levees were bound to break. They can't withstand a very heavy rain very well, so...Yeah. If they didn't break this mess wouldn't be as bad...But we have to remember it is still below sea level. There still would've been flooding and such. The pumps also failed...We have to be very wary about this situation. If those levees aren't repaired (the Dutch just sent their lovely experts over to help) and those pumps aren't put online...:\

And as I've said before, there is too much waste in that water. The clean up is going to take years. It is uninhabitable at this point and during the near future. Plus, anymore hurricanes will seriously hamper the folks in their hope of repairing the city.

EU just released 60 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves. This oil will range from crude to finished petrol. It should reach the USA within 10 days. So, in two weeks prices will go down

I've had to reneg that idea that the 1906 was the worse. I said in another thread that New Orleans is going to be neigh impossible to rebuild...Yeah. The silt it was built on is eroding...

The entire thing raises eyebrows.

But no, it won't be easy and it won't be cheap.

But if they do decide to try to rebuild it, they're going to have to see if it's even possible.

Yeah, that's happened to me too. A Puerto-Rican immigrant took my job at McDonalds. Everyone knew he wasn't legal. Simple fact was he was a better worker and wouldn't complain about minimum wage.

Guess what I've had to do...

Work harder for less.

Basically, it creates a problem. "Legals" as you call them are whiney and fat leeches on society. "Illegals" work harder than you and will work for less. Plain and simple.

Zer0wned. I'm a povery advocate. I work my ass off nearly constantly working for the poor. They're harder workers and in more desperate situations than you can imagine. One girl I've worked with was eating approx. 1 granola bar every two days because she had kids to feed. She worked for below minimum wage as a sticher at a sweatshop. She NEVER complained about not getting more for nothing. That's bullshit that is spouted by morons. When they get heard, they're dead. Plain and simple.

Oh, and NAFTA TECHNICALLY gives us the ability to switch between Mexico, Canada and USA as open workers freely. In practise it doesn't work that way, but that's the theory. Mind you, I think this whole "Americans who have been here for 20 years = legals because they're Europeans not Mexicans" idea is bullplop. I've always thought of whites as illegal immigrants. But whatever.

Hm. I suppose that's the advantage of living in a car factory town. All the GMs are dirt cheap.

But I would've gone with a euro-diseal. Saves you an ass load of money and they're more reliable than a Russian hooker (which are notoriously reliable).

Cuba wanted to send thousands of doctors and Venezuela wanted to send 11 million dollars and a huge amount of gasoline (already refined!). Of course, The Rice shot it all down. The White House LUUUUUUUUUURVES THE POOR!

I don't quite have the time to dredge up a link right now Leg, but I remember vividly today one of the student papers having an article quoted from an Argentinian newspaper regarding this event. I think it was a Red Tory paper, but I can't be sure.

You're picking at straws zer0wned. This topic covers all of those topics. As definition 1 is relevant to the conversation.

Topic 3 is about the only one that doesn't fall strongly into the topic at hand.

geeogree: I get up out of bed because it is biologically imperitive I feed, defecate, attempt to find a mate and go about all other required routines. As a human I get out of bed because I have to fulfill societal duties.

Seems fun, yes, but I'm not buying a PSP for one remake, and besides, I'm positive a game like this won't get released outside Japan. Sony doesn't like stuff like this, and they didn't release the Rockman remakes for the PSX either.

If Sony of America approves it, because it would, it would fall on Capcom for distribution. Not Sony.

Sony and Nintendo have different systems of distribution.

The only thing that stops you from getting up is the inability to do so. It is disingenuous to make assumptions that belief would hold you back in such a circumstance.

Nintendo indirectly handles distribution. Sony has little power.

You folks know little about the business practises behind the companies, and the only business you really know about is that of Nintendo and make across the board assumptions on these practises.

Hence the Nintendo comment.

I like how they use quotes from 1993 as definitive sources relating to scientific knowledge at this time when compared to that time.

The logic behind that gives me sexual gratification.
