Not really. A shooting barrel true to the old DKC games would require too much hacking to be practical, and if you had that know-how you'd be better off doing better things with SMW. Like new powerups.

That's true... I didn't take into consideration the shooting pipes. But still, it would take a lot of work sending it to the right code piece and even more if you wanted the barrels to shoot you any direction but up and right.

Most of the solutions above suck. If there isn't a way to get it to work, fine. I'll have to do without. But making P-switches fall from the sky like that is hardly a solution at all.

I was thinking about that earlier and I think it would be a great. But I don't know enough about custom blocks to create one, even if it didn't involve spawning a sprite... But then there are those question blocks that turn into brown blocks after giving you a P-switch. If I could disable the 'change to brown block' process for that single block... That is one hell of a teaser, Trasher. Quality stuff, quality stuff. Although those space-suit koopas are a little weird. But hey, I made the Koopas into TOX for my Super Mario Illiad hack. Little black things in multicolored spaceships. So no judgements here.

Heh. I'm a big fan of original GFX, and the whole 3D sidewalk thing is pretty cool. Why is it that no once cares when I make original GFX? Oh well...

We need a warning in the title of this thread. Something like (Warning: Contains bad jokes) |

No, that would be a bad idea. The coin sparkle is a neat effect and it would take a lot to disable it. And why would you even want to disable it? If we wanted this game to be just like SMB3, we'd go play SMB3. This is a port of SMB3 to SMW. And that's why it's awesome, because you get Yoshi and everything.

We need some sort of data... saving... thing... so we don't have to wade through all these 'How do U use LM' topics just to get to the valuable information, like this little tidbit on Bowser's palette. If all this data was accumulated into one.... thing... then we'd be able to make this one unstoppable... thing... Yeah, I'm really tired. But now Bowser is going to be hacked that much more! Huzzah! Kyouji is right, you know. If we wanted graphics to use in our own hacks, we would... gee, I don't know... maybe go to the ExGFX workshop? HyperHacker, this guy couldn't get secondary exits to work correctly. I don't think he's going to be using CGADSUB or HDMA anytime soon. The only reason we've never had a GFX only hack of SMW is because they suck. That's why so many other games have GFX only hacks. We didn't have good enough tools to edit them. But now we have a good one, and it's called Lunar Magic. And that's why we've been working on better things than GFX only hacks. Because they suck, and we haven't had to stoop to that level. Until now. For shame, Macbee. For shame. |

Everyone knows that. It's posted here: http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=3447 And anyone who simply flipped through AllGFX.bin knows where Bowser is. And the SMW knowledge database can't just be whipped up in seconds like that... people have to willingly submit the data, and someone would have go gather all the data floating through the forums into one big page/thread/thing. Anyone who knows HTML could create a SMW knowledge database, but the real trick is getting people to go there. I think this board is the closest anyone's going to get to a database... How the hell can I be an elitist? I'm not even close to knowing enough about hacking required to fall into the 'elitist' category, let alone the attitude required. And I was just saying that if you didn't know how to use secondary exits just a little while ago you're probably not going to be able to manipulate complex graphical systems now. We have SMW already. We have had several versions that were just slightly different. We don't need any more. And Kyouji's also right about the SMW to SMB conversion thing. SMW has a completely different engine, and using it to make an old game would be a different experience altogether. But adding new graphics to a game that we've all played over and over again is just stupid. We're not getting anything new out of this hack, so why play it? And SMWedit, that's a pretty kickass background. |

Damn it, Darkflight! There is a thread about this on this very page. Stop making unnecessary threads!

If he made it exactly like Super Mario All Stars it wouldn't be worth playing. And they're not 'inspirations', they're just levels and graphics ripped directly from the older ones in the series. Sure, it takes skill to rip and pallete the graphics, but if I wanted to play the older games I'd go play All Stars instead of these hacks. And since even you agree that BMF's SMO was a great hacking achievement, where's his fan club? |

Ooh! Ooh! Take a crack at my series of hacks! (Not Mariostrocity, that one sucks. Unless you're looking for a bad hack to review, or something...) http://www.geocities.com/glyphphoenix/illiad.zip Ah, Super Mario Illiad. This is a good'un. Check it out. It's got new graphics and plot and Mario wearing a fez. What's not to like? http://www.geocities.com/glyphphoenix/mstr.zip One has to wonder what was going through my head when I made this one, Mariostrocity. Yep. If you're extremely bored or you want to see one hell of a weird hack, go ahead and download away. http://www.geocities.com/glyphphoenix/mallow.zip And then there's Project Mallow. It's pretty cool, too. Give it a shot if you like. |

Unholy magic? I knew it! And here I was hoping to be able to edit SMW well without surrendering my soul... |
