"8K x 8" means 8K groups of 8 bits, or 64Kbits. If you look at the datasheet, you will see that there are 13 address lines and 8 data lines. I'm not sure what the others meant to say, but they seemed incorrect. The parallel port runs off the ISA bus which has maximum clock rate of 8MHz. The CPU might be able to continue code execution during an ISA write cycle, but the CPU will need to wait during an ISA read cycle. I doubt that the proposed scheme will work well, if at all. I'd look into 5V programmable flash and building a programmer out of 74LS series parts. Buying a programmer is also an option. |

There appears to be some funny business with the minimum posts for the GunBound rank set. The the minimum number of posts for the later ranks keep changing as the post count for the users on those ranks change. Is that a bug, or is it something deliberate that makes sense to those that are familiar with GunBound? |

Getting my driver's license was not hard. I passed the written test and the driving test on the first tries. I did not need to get minimum amount of supervised driving time. I just had to pass a pass a driving test after having a permit for some amount of time. My driving test was to just drive around a few blocks near the police station, I was not asked to parallel park, the task that many people seem to worry about. I didn't even try to get a learner's permit until I was 18 years old. I got my license a year later. |

This was talked about in another thread. My suggestion that I posted to that thread is repeated here, so that someone who has write access to the current AcmlmBoard code might see it and consider it.Originally posted by Cellar Dweller in "Honestly, why do people bump up month-old topics?" I think the possibility of distinguishing between automatic and moderated closures should be considered as well. |

Yes it is possible, and I's sure that there are libraries to help. The problem is that as the data files get bigger, the site slows down. MySQL or similar database systems will slow down too as the dataset gets bigger, but the slowdown will be much less. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

This is the wrong forum for this question. The AcmlmBoard programming forum is the right place(actually there is no fourm here where this question is welcome). To answer the question, http://acmlm.cjb.net:2/acmlmboard1.8a.zip. It is an old version, and there are some known security holes. To learn how to fix them and set up forums, go to http://www.cymoro.com/abhacks/abinstall.php(read this first to see if you can use AcmlmBoard). If you don't understand the installation instructions, you will not be able to run your own copy of AcmlmBoard. |

Call me paranoid, but I'm inclined to see the story as more than just a joke. It seems to have a undercurrent of an anti unwed cohabitation and a pro "family values" message. Knowing of Nebetsu's religious denial of evolution, it may be reasonable to conclude that part of the appeal of the story is based in a conservative religious view. |
I think that is why I found the story rather unamusing and possibly a little sickening.

I too would like to see hacks of Super Mario 64. There was some discussion about N64 and SM64 hacking in thread 2154. (I wonder if HyperHacker has gotten home yet? ) |
I have been trying to find a copy of Ultralib as well as the function reference that was taken down from n64.icequake.net so that the Ultralib code and calls to Ultralib could be found in SM64. All I could find was an introductory document. An N64 emulator with a decent debugger would also be nice. The MIO0 compression, used in some N64 games such as SM64, has been cracked and a tool has been created that can both compress and decompress. (I hope I have not taken the thread too much off topic.)

The Windows JPEG decoder is not the only Windows graphics file decoder that has been found to be exploitable. Back when a portion of the Windows source code was leaked, an exploitable bug was found in the BMP RLE decoder. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again: migration scripts are not required in order to release. People who have a 1.8a installation and want to upgrade are likely to be the most motivated to create migration scripts. People who want a new AcmlmBoard installation don't need any migration scripts. |

After learning that the compression used in SM64 had been cracked(http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=21072), I wrote my own decompression tool, but I ended up resorting to running a viewer under Wine to see the graphics. I would have liked to post screenshots of the graphics in the viewer, but I had trouble saving the screenshots. |
Here is some of the stuff I found in the Japanese version(I had trouble finding the US ROM). Compressed block at 0x1076d0: font graphics icons? 1bpp font (used when Mario is reading a sign) Compressed block at 0x112b50: textures used on Mario's body(M on cap, eyes) sparkles Compressed block at 0x128be0: looks like the white balls that eyes shoot or the eyes themselves a pair of crossed eyes eggs? textures used on the wind up things that flip Mario up in the air Compressed block at 0x3fa310: fence used in bob-omb battlefield arrow sign flower textures used for the flower patches I beleve that this block also contains geometry data for bob-omb battlefield. That was just a few of the things in a few of the compressed blocks of data. I intend to look at more. To view the graphics I used Jovis's N64 Disassembler as a graphics viewer. My brother's computer is much faster and has Windows. I may attempt to decompress, corrupt, and recompress some of the non graphics data to see what happens to the game. BTW, does anyone know of a N64 emulator that has a decent debugger? |
